Here’s a team if I was using my fantasy premier league wildcard now. Its an application of my “ones to watch” article
- Hart
- £6.9
- Another clean sheet to quieten the doubters. City are still statistically the best defence in the league in my view. Fixtures aren’t great at all starting with Spurs home but the clean sheets will still come. Hart is the cheapest secure option where the only other is Kompany at £7.3m
- Tremmel
- £4.0
- Hart will play every game so get the cheapest replacement. Tremmel happens to be playing at the moment with Vorm injured
- Rafael
- £6.3
- Despite all the negative hype Utd’s defensive stats aren’t that bad, just not the best. However Rafael, as he did again on the weekend, always gives you the chance for attacking points to compensate. The fixtures are now very good although 2 games away arent perfect. However a defensive presence is absolutely necessary. Rafael has risks with Smalling and Jones coming back but no one is safe from rotation. Didn’t start against Braga which is positive for the weekend
- Cuellar
- £4.5
-
- 3 clean sheets over play what is a pretty poor statistical defence but a good goalkeeper has helped that. The good news is they’re forced to play defensively as they really cant seem to score.
- Sagna
- £5.4
- Not in my “ones to watch” but should be. Like city ignore the doubters this is a good defence. Sagna will also get attacking returns and excellent value
- Williamson
- £4.3
- Im not a fan of the Newcastle defence but fixtures are good . I’ve recommended Santon at £5.0m for those who are but thats too rich in my view for a Newcastle defender. Willimason is dead cheap and is at least guaranteed 3 games while Colccini is suspended. Santon is the only guaranteed starter though so get him if you’re a Newcastle defence fan
- Cameron
- £4.6
- Best fixtures and best defence apart from the elite clubs. A stoke defender is a must have at the moment. Cameron is the cheapest apart from wilko who’s a bit of a YC magnet
- Fellaini
- £7.2
- Top of the midfield shooting stats. Was unplayable on the weekend. Even for the 3 games against Sunderland, Reading and Norwich he will be worth it. Warning though after those 3 games the fixtures are terrible.
- Sterling
- £5.3
- Will hold his place but starting too get expensive. fixtures are good after the Chelsea game
- Schneiderlin
- £4.4
- budget filler
- Santi Cazorla
- £9.4
- Underlying shooting stats have improved and keeps creating chances. The good fixtures start here home to Fulham and then continue being reasonable.
- Mata
- £9.4
- Fixtures arent easy but hes the closest to a fixture proof midfielder that there is. Bale is more proven but Mata intuitively looks like a better captain option if needed. LIV (H) WBA (A) MCY (H) are really testing fixtures though.
- Van Persie
- £13.3
- The only really reliable coverage for the Utd team at the moment with the midfield rotation and Rooney dropping deeper. Underlying stats aren’t as good as last year but is finishing off chances when they come.
- Suarez
- £9.8
- Top of the shooting stats despite the hard fixtures start. Has problems finishing but after the Chelsea game fixtures are very good starting with Wigan at home
Ba Newcastle
Fixtures are strong although Has the ability to score against any opposition. Monitor the injury position for this week before buying
Good luck to all fantasy premier league geeks in game week 11
