Barclays fantasy premier league – “ones to watch” forwards – GW2 Buy Hold Sell

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s the “ones to watch” for forwards on the Barclays fantasy premier league format in a buy hold sell format for GW2.  This will give the best forward players at a variety of price ranges

There is no rule for forwards just pick the best ones.

As for midfielders  I’ve provided the following stats to support the player choices and to guide you in your decisions:

1.  Goals and assists last year.   I’ve used last year until 5 games or so have gone in order to start a pattern

2.  Time per point scored last year.  This is how many minutes it takes for a Barclays fantasy premier league point to be scored over the course of last season.  The lower the better obviously.  I’ve used last year until 5 games or so have gone in order to start a pattern

3.  Rotation risk.  High, medium or low.  High is the greatest risk of rotation.

4.  Fixture ease ranking:  The link is at the bottom of the article but essentially I’ve ranked all the teams by the ease of the first 6 fixtures.  The team with the best ranking ie 1 will have the easiest next fixtures of any of the fantasy premier league teams over the next 6 games.

5.  Consistency:  The % of times that the player got a goal or assist or 2 point mnimum bonus last year as a % of games played

Elite forwards

RVP (£14.0m) BUY

  • Goals and assists least year:  26 goals 15 assists.  Time per point scored last year:  12 mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 18th.  Consistency 89%

Answered the question about whether he should be in your fantasy premier league team emphatically with 2 goals in GW1.  Gives a default captain option.  Great shooting stats to underline it.

Benteke (£9.0m) HOLD

  • Goals and assists least year:  19 goals 4 assists.  Time per point scored last year:  17 mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 16th.  Consistency 46%

Fantastic first season and 3rd top goal scoring forward and 4th overall points scoring forward in fantasy premier league.  2 goals with pens and 1 with 1 goal 1 shot against Chelsea.  Was fantastic all round though but if you don’t own him leave it until his bye in GW1

Soldado (£9.5m) BUY

  • Goals and assists least year:  24 goals 4 assists (La Liga).  Time per point scored last year:  N/A .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 6th .  Consistency N/A

5th top goal scorer in La Liga and certain of starts and  being the main striker in a team with great fixtures to come.  Has pen duties which helped against Palace but best coverage of a top 4 challenging team with great fixtures.

Sturridge (£9.0m)  BUY

  • Goals and assists least year:  11 goals 5 assists.  Time per point scored last year:  13 mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 3rd.  Consistency 66%

Really good first performance scoring against Stoke and could have had so much more.  Good shooting stats to back it up.  With good fixtures he’s a great buy.

Lukaku (£8.0m) HOLD

  • Goals and assists least year:  17 goals 7 assists.  Time per point scored last year:  13 mins .  Rotation risk: high.   fixture ease ranking: 17th.  Consistency 71%

Early on last year I was saying this guy is going to be one of the best strikers in the world and his season ended up nothing short of phenomenal.    Returns hardly different than RVP, underlying stats exceptionally good for the game time and a consistency for a player in a mid table team that was unreal.  Surprisingly didn’t start either game in GW1 but did more than both Torres and Ba in half the time and has helped his future starting chances in my mind.  No point in selling now as he will start against United

Giroud (£8.5m) BUY

  • Goals and assists least year:  11 goals 5 assists.  Time per point scored last year:  19 mins .  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 9th.  Consistency 38%

Very streaky scorer against poorer opposition and didn’t fail at home to Villa although as usual could have scored more.  Good shooting stats as well.  I personally prefer Walcott but he is a viable alternative for arsenal coverage.

Aguero (£11.0m)

  • Goals and assists least year:  12 goals 3 assists.  Time per point scored last year:  16 mins .  Rotation risk: medium.   fixture ease ranking: 5th.  Consistency 57%

I haven’t put a category on him as he’s a punt.  On the back of the barest underlying stats he got a goal and an assist in GW1.  Is pure quality with a good conversion rate historically.  His price for someone who will be rotated is some punt but with Jovetic injured he is the striker best suited to dropping a little deeper so may have a strong run in the side while they work through these good fixtures.  Pellegrini playing 2 strikers helps mitigate the risk.

Mid price forwards

Dzeko (£7.5m) HOLD

  • Goals and assists least year:  14 goals 6 assists.  Time per point scored last year:  14 mins .  Rotation risk: high.   fixture ease ranking: 5th.  Consistency 80%

Was very unlucky having one of his low conversion days against Newcastle.  I wouldn’t sell now though but monitor the next few games.  Has the ability to score as a sub in any case and at this price he can almost be accommodated in your team with some rotation.  Every fantasy premier league team should have some City coverage though.   Jovetic injured with no return date helps,  although Negredo you would think would be the nailed on most advanced player.  As for Aguero,  Pellegrini playing 2 strikers helps mitigate the risk.

Lambert (£7.5m)HOLD

  • Goals and assists least year:  15 goals 8 assists.  Time per point scored last year:  17  mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 8th.  Consistency 50%

Virtually no underlying stats but pens and free kicks, plus the ability to create chances, get him out of jail as they did at the weekend.  Osvaldo may dilute his returns but worth keeping for me.

Bony (£8.0m) BUY

  • Goals and assists least year:  31 goals 8 assists Eredivisie.  Time per point scored last year:  N/A .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 15th.  Consistency N/A

Very expensive but goal against United and general performance plus underlying stats convinced me

Budget forwards

Cornelius (£5.5m) BUY

  • Goals and assists least year:  18 goals 5 assists (Danish league).  Time per point scored last year:  NA .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 4th.  Consistency N/A

Was injured for GW1 but should be fit.   Good scoring record in the Danish league and the fixtures will be improving after GW2.  Will be the main man and good value.

Anelka £5.5m SELL

  • Goals and assists least year:  24 goals 3 assists.  Time per point scored last year:  NA .  Rotation risk: high.   fixture ease ranking: 10th.  Consistency N/A

Did absolutely nothing in GW1 and with the fixtures turning difficult its a sale for me.  NOTE STORY HE HAS WALKED OUT OF WBA
