Aguero or Salah was the question of the week; the answer for me was Aguero. Even off the bench he can grab a goal or two and Salah’s fixture away to an in-form Palace wasn’t as enticing. It paid off in spades and along with Mendy, Richarlison, Arnautovic and Mane gave me a very respectable 97 points to continue my great start. Patricio, Jota and Davies (who has been unlucky) are beginning to look a little stale and Peltier not in the match day squad is a big worry.

Transfers and captaincy

Wan-Bissaka being banned has left me with no bench for next week unless Peltier starts or Quaner comes on but I’m not going to focus any transfers on it as it’s only one week and I want my budget working for me on the pitch. If I have a non-starter and I have to play with 10 for one week so be it, I’m not burning 4 hard earned points for a bench player. I have 2 free transfers and am planning on using them this week to get in Alonso (for Davies) and Fraser (for Jota) who both returned from my watchlist. Their fixtures are great for the foreseeable and Fraser’s low price enables the Alonso move with them both playing in very advanced positions.

Davies has been unlucky but his fixtures stiffen now and with Rose on the bench this weekend he may have a benching or two soon. I was contemplating bringing in Ings for Arnautovic but in hindsight Arnautovic has Arsenal and Wolves next who have both conceded 4 in their first 2 games. I won’t be making my transfers until Saturday morning which means I may lose some value and don’t catch rises but that doesn’t bother me as the game is about points and I want to get the latest information before confirming the transfers; this also gives me the chance to change my mind if other injuries/team news mean I will have other no-starters. My current plan is to bring in Mkhitaryan next week.

Captain-wise will again be Salah or Aguero with Salah just edging it at the moment with a plum home fixture. Again, any late team news may change that.

My City and Liverpool contingent again delivered with Arnautovic also scoring so another decent week. Jota is beginning to look a bit ropey and Alonso is proving difficult to ignore so I may be planning my first changes next week which could be Jota and Davies to Maddison and Alonso. I’m not set on it yet but they both look great value and are very involved. Richarlison again looks good but I don’t have anyone else to leave the team so he will have to wait for now. I can’t get Richarlison in place of Maddison due to the 0.8 price difference.

Another great week with Agueros captain hat trick catapulting me up into the top couple of hundred overall. I did use 2 transfers doing the hokey cokey with Aguero and Salah but this has been justified with the Aguero explosion. Mendy, Richarlison, Maddison and Arnautovic also all returned; I am enjoying riding my good fortune whilst I can! Jota and Keita haven’t done anything yet and one of them (price dependant) may form part of a trade to get Aguero back in on Saturday.

Transfers and captaincy

Aguero came in and went again; I am struggling to maintain 2 premium strikers due to my balanced budget across all positions. As I get to see the City lineup on Saturday I can decide whether I need to bring him in again and also whether potentially Bernardo or Mendy can make way as part of the trade if they are rested. As it will be close to overhaul time I don’t mind shipping one of them out as they will only have one game left. Captaincy will depend on whether Aguero starts; if he does it will probably be him, if not Salah at home to Brighton. My other trade in will hopefully be a United or Spurs player for the Monday night captaincy game.

My Sunday captain will be Van Aanholt as I have no Chelsea players though I am tempted by the Keita to Jorginho switch albeit I want to try and keep transfers back! I have also started to plan my overhaul team in which I will probably leave room for two of Kane/Aguero/Salah for captaincy reasons. Having all three will cripple the rest of my team and the there is plenty of value to be had elsewhere.

Mendy, Robertson, Arnautovic, Mane and Aguero returned for me in another decent week. Keita has flattered to deceive points-wise and Aubameyang again had nothing although his fixtures improve from now. Sanchez has lost two pretty needless clean sheets now which is frustrating.

Transfers

I am tempted to bring in Richarlison particularly following his comments this week about wanting to be the league’s top scorer but I’m not sure if I am just chasing points; his fixtures remain strong for a while yet. I also need to consider getting Kane in from around GW6 as his fixtures turn and the Champions League returns so I need to consider freeing up funds where possible. Maddison and Wan-Bissaka at 1.5m look great value also so I may do something around this though I am undecided still and probably won’t be making any transfers this weekend particularly as Wan-Bissaka has a one game ban. Sun isn’t my strongest game so I will be doing plenty more reading around strategy and transfers over the next week or so.

Good luck everyone for GW3!
