Wow, what a rollercoaster of a GW. I can’t remember a Saturday afternoon like it! The early kick off wasn’t too great for me although Mendy’s two bonus points without any returns proving further how much of a bargain he is. Bernardo looked a little ineffective although Wolves were superb and subdued City to little attacking threat, Aguero aside. Patricio’s three pointer was very welcome.

Richarlison’s red card and subsequent three game ban has put the cat amongst the pigeons whilst Fraser looked good and was unlucky not to return. Staying with Arnautovic proved a good decision and he was looking very dangerous until his injury which halted his point potential and gives me a headache for next week. Liverpool continued where they left off and Alonso smashed it again.

Another green arrow and decent looking team for the next two weeks although my bench is threadbare at best!

Transfers and captaincy

Richarlison has left a big hole in my midfield and with Everton having back-to-back plum home fixtures I am immediately thinking of a straight swap to Walcott who looked dangerous again. I envisage Arnautovic being out until after the international break although I will wait for the diagnosis as West Ham are home to Wolves on the weekend; a straight swap to Zaha with good fixtures coming up for him could be a good move. I do need to sort my bench out at some point but getting 11 men out is my immediate priority. Wildcarding has briefly gone through my mind but I  want to wait a few more weeks if possible particularly as my starting 11 looks good for the next two weeks.

The polls will again help my captain decision although Aguero at home to Newcastle will more than likely be the outcome.

Liverpool again delivered for me with Arnautovic but they were the only ones this week with City and the rest not doing much. I did my planned Jota to Maddison transfer and although Maddison didn’t return this week, his fixtures are superb for the foreseeable future so I’m happy to have him in as an enabler.

Arnautovic’s injury forced me into a decision and with Crystal Palace having better fixtures and the upper-hand over fixture timing’s in the next few weeks I decided to complete the transfer and move to 4-5-1 which also freed up some budget for future plans. Davies not starting is a pain; if Rose doesn’t leave this week he will probably go for Alonso or Trippier. I don’t have any further transfers planned until the international break when I will reassess.

I transferred in Aguero and Stankovic as the enabler (who didn’t play) for Jota and Keita which didn’t pay off immediately. However I brought Aguero in primarily for the Newcastle captaincy game next week so hopefully it will pay off then. My Liverpool assets again paid off with Arnautovic chipping in before getting injured.

I contemplated bringing in Seri or Jorginho for the Sunday captaincy but as I have Van Aanholt and had used too many transfers for my liking decided against it which was a shame! It looks like I will be finishing the pre-overhaul phase with 8 playing players which is frustrating but I do have the captaincy day covered and many others will be in the same boat so it isn’t all bad. I completed my Salah to Kane © move as planned.

Aguero for Saturday at home to Newcastle and Kane against Watford on Sunday. No transfers planned although my overhaul team planning is well under way.

Robertson, Arnautovic and Salah returned for me in a poor week and I am beginning to get a little concerned with a few players. Sanchez not starting was a surprise. I dodged a bullet in Richarlison thankfully.

Transfers

A lot of players are not doing too well and I still have 3 transfers in hand so I am considering some changes this week. I am considering Arnautovic to Moura and Keita, who isn’t doing much, going for the cheaper and more attacking Pedro who has strong fixtures coming up. I want Kane soon so will be working that out after next week when Aubameyang plays Cardiff.
