Here’s his stats from League 1 in France plus his Champions League stats and comparisons with the top Premier league forwards:
His International stats for Sweden are 116 games and 62 goals which is a pretty impressive strike rate of 53%
Certainly the League stats are incredible. How much they have to be taken with some caution because of PSG’s dominance in a weaker league is the question. There’s an obvious dip in the Champions league but it’s worth noting that in this years Champions League he scored 3 goals in the 4 games against Chelsea and Man City which is a good sign.
The Prospects
It’s seems pretty certain that come GW1 he will be leading the line for Man Utd as the forward most likely in 4-2-3-1.
The question with Ibrahimovic is quite simply how good will a 34 year old be in the premier league be after playing in a weaker league in a very dominant side. How much do you take into account his stats considering the above. He also had a very poor Euro’s which doesn’t help
There are a number of non on the pitch reasons to sign Ibrahimovic. Ibrahimovic is a strong ally of Mourinho from his Inter Milan days. That will be important in the dressing room. He also has the same agent as Pogba and Lukaku. An agent that Sir Alex never got on with as you can imagine. That is another intangible. Lastly he is a Galactico and a great marketing tool.
However what is a footballing reason is Mourinho’s need to have a focal point for his attack (see Costa and Drogba from Chelsea) and Ibrahimovic can play that role. Man Utd will also be a far more direct attacking team than the turgid possession based team under LVG. The purchase of the 32 assist Mkhitaryan should also see that he will get plenty of chances.

- He will undoubtedly come with a hefty price tag in FPL.
- The stats are incredible and there’s no doubting his world class status.
- He is a 34 year old coming to a new league so even with his class and proven stats there is risk as to whether he will be successful coming from a poorer league and a team that dominated it.
