fantasy football tips

An ok week but not great.

The good

Aguero did well. Mendy, Mane, Salah delivered goals/KC’s and Robertson a clean sheet. Very happy with those players.

The bad

With Sanchez’s injury I swapped him for Zaha Monday night. This was a bonus game where I wasn’t expecting much but Crystal Palace look good and I’m sure he will deliver during this spell of good fixtures. I wasn’t willing to wait until next Monday night to see if Sanchez played.   It also saves some money and gives me options for future moves. I’ve labelled it bad as I don’t like using a transfer so early.

Van Aaanholt got 0 points but I’m happy with him going forward. De Gea I have no plans to remove and will just hope United’s clean sheets will come. Coady is just a cheap filler who I’ll keep for now.

Jota is a concern as he was taken off at half time for not being able to impact the game and suggestions are he is struggling to adapt to the PL. Mahrez didn’t start which was a surprise as he took most set pieces in De Bruyne’s absence the previous week. Luckily Wolves play City in the early fixture so I can watch and make a decision. Ideally Mahrez starts and I can leave my transfers alone. There are a lot of options that look good right now and feel I need more info before committing.

My week was fine barring one major blunder and that was not captaining Aguero. Suggestions were he may not start which seemed a risk, and for mini league h2h reasons the safer option seemed to be Salah. I have 2 FT now and some big issues.

King has had no shots in his two games, Costa has contributed nothing and was subbed at half time at the weekend. Mahrez didn’t start, Firminho was barely noticeable in last night’s game, Wan Bissaka is suspended for a game and Doherty has some doubts with an injury so my bench could be non existant.

Firminho stays for a week with a home game against Brighton coming up. Wan Bissaka looks such a good option he is staying. I will likely downgrade Van Aanholt when he is back and play Wan instead.

Mahrez>Mkhitarian and Costa > Pedro is one option I’m looking at. Arsenal and Chelsea have some good fixtures now. Pedro has some good stats and appears safe to start too though of course Hazard will be back to playing 90 soon which may limit Pedro’s points. Ideally I’d leave Mahrez another week but it’s the only way to get enough funds to upgrade Costa to someone I want.

Other considerations are King>Ings to save 0.9m. Ings looked good when he came on but 0.9m doesn’t help me upgrade Costa. I could roll the transfer but if Mahrez doesn’t start then I’ll be in trouble with my bench this week. Certainly too early/not enough issues for a wildcard.

Captain this week almost certainly Salah. He has had a number of big chances missed so far so is due a haul. Only bench decision was Fabianski back to the bench and playing Foster this week.

Overall rank not great but it’s early days. 1 transfer used in Otamendi > Laporte due to Otamendi not playing. Eriksen, Aubameyang and Mahrez have yet to return any points which is the main issue. Aubameyang has had good chances to score and will continue to with his fixtures so I’m not too concerned. I will check the City line up on Saturday and if Mahrez doesn’t start I’ll transfer out. With 2 transfers to use before the end of GW4, I don’t need to be precious with them though GW4 looks a good time to get Kane in so Mahrez>Keita would leave me enough for Aubameyang>Kane.
