fantasy premier league – “ones to watch” cheapie midfielders – GW23

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s the 2nd part of my fantasy premier league “ones to watch” for midfielders looking at those under £6.0m.  I’ve tried to rank them on gametime security, form and fixtures but there’s enough information there I hope for you to judge how to slot them into your fantasy premier league team

fantasy premier league – “ones to watch” cheapie midfielders – GW23

1.  Mutch (£4.6m)

Seems to be over his injury issues having played 90 minutes against City in GW22.  A consistent selection by OGS.   A midfielder who likes to get into the box and shoot.  2 goals and an assist in his last 5 and 2 returning games in that period.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Man Utd (A)
Norwich (H)
Swansea (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Hull City (H)
Tottenham (A)

2.  Puncheon (£4.9m)

Has now played 10 consecutive games.   Was taking pens although that may be out of the question after his miss at Spurs.  Really good at getting into the box and getting shots off.  2 goals in his last 5 games and 2 returning matches in that period.  A good time to buy home to Hull next

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Hull City (H)
Arsenal (A)
West Brom (H)
Everton (A)
Man Utd (H)
Swansea (A)

3.  Snodgrass (£5.9m)

This is a punt on my part.  A player who should be returning far better.  Definitely on the expensive side but with set pieces and good underlying stats at the moment improved returns are definitely possible. Only 1 assist in the last 5 though.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Newcastle (H)
Cardiff City (A)
Man City (H)
West Ham (A)
Tottenham (H)
Aston Villa (A)

4.  Januzaj (£5.3m)

Looking better and better each game.  A player who has excellent vision, can beat a man and has a good shot.  Mata will probably mean he will move to the flank though.  started 7 of Man Utd’s last 8 games.  Only 1 assist in his last 5 but shown enough to see that the returns will come.  With Cardiff and Fulham home games in the next 3 now is a great time to buy.  The gametime risk which remains as part of a large squad makes him a difficult bench warmer and more of a rotation option.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Cardiff City (H)
Stoke City (A)
Fulham (H)
Arsenal (A)
Crystal Palace (A)
Gameweek 28 – N/A

5.  Sterling (£5.3m)

Has some gametime risk with Sturridge back but did pass the first test having played 90 minutes against Villa as Rodgers rolled out a 4-4-2.  This didn’t work though so there are still shadows over whether Sterling or Coutinho will consistently play.  2 assists in his last 5 games in 2 returning games in that period.  A few tricky fixtures next.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Everton (H)
West Brom (A)
Arsenal (H)
Fulham (A)
Swansea (H)
Southampton (A)

6.  Ki Sung-Yueng (£4.9m)

Continues to be a consistent selection starting the last 12.  Game against Southampton played deeper than at recent games.  2 goals and an assist and 2 returning games  in his last 5.  Stoke and Hull at home are good fixtures in the next 3.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Stoke City (H)
Newcastle (A)
Hull City (H)
Man City (A)
Arsenal (A)
Gameweek 28  N/A

7.  Sidwell (£5.2m)

A solid if somewhat expensive bench player having started 12 of the 22 fantasy premier league fixtures to date.   A player who really seems to know how to score with 5 goals this season.  Its 2 goals in his last 2 games and 2 returning games in that period.  Fixtures could be better.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Swansea (A)
Southampton (H)
Man Utd (A)
Liverpool (H)
West Brom (A)
Chelsea (H)

8.  Noone (£4.3m)

One of the cheapest options at £4.3m who has started the last 7.  A player with real attacking intent.  Not really shown so far in returns though with 1 goal in his last 5.  Man Utd probably not the best time to buy though

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Man Utd (A)
Norwich (H)
Swansea (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Hull City (H)
Tottenham (A)

9.  Whittingham (£5.3m)

Started every game this year although the new signings need to be monitored for their effect on his gametime.  No returns in his last 5 although does have good set piece involvement.  Man Utd away may not be the best time to buy

Aston Villa (H)
