QUESTION BARCLAYS FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE

Q  Green/Davis

Mariapppa,Rangel,Clichy/Clyne,McCarthney

VDV,Michu,Guthrie,Hazard(VC)/Noble

Ageuro,Torres(C),Rooney

What are your thoughts?

A Here’s my suggestions regarding your team

GK.

Davis and green are the best £4.5m rotation. You will have seen from my draft 2 team that I’ve opted for DeGea and a benchwarmer at £4.0m as I think the extra £1m total outlay will give a better return with United last year posting 19 clean sheets. The Lindegaard risk is one I’m willing to take for this potential greater return

DEF

Since my first draft team Ive got a little nervous about Mariappa and if I had to choose a safe £4.0 defender now for Reading it will be Gorkks but its not without risk. Theres no one certain for the Reading back line at the moment you just have to hope for the best

Rangel – The last 2 pre-season Swansea defensive displays have made me shy away from a £5.0m investment in the Swansea back line. I’ve upgraded to Hibbert of Everton. Everton I thought overall last year were the 4th best defence based on all stats. He’s not without risk and hopefully I wont see Neville in his position come Monday night but I didn’t have the cash for Jagielka who’s the safest option at £6.0m

Again Ive shied away from Clichy even with the positive noises coming out about 4-4-2. I’ve gone for Zabaleta which is a bit short term when Richards comes back but the whole 3-5-2 and the Kolarov business just made me too nervous and I just didn’t have the cash for Lescott at £6.5m

McCartney was injured when I last looked so I went for Demel at RB. He should be safe.

I would go Tierney instead of Clyne, its a shame as he’s a real attacking prospect but I wouldn’t double up on the Saints defence

Totally ok with your midfield and your forwards

good luck with the season

QUESTION BARCLAYS FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE

Q  Great article again, liking the sleeping giant category, my whole team is in your selections. Though I am considering a punt on Podolski as my 3rd striker. I like the guy’s style

A  Jack, thanks for the comments.  My only issue with Arsenal is that they have the one of the worst opening 6  fixtures and Im using that as a way giving me the time to assess the new signings and the implications of life after RVP.

QUESTION BARCLAYS FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE

Q  Thoughts on my team?

Federici/Vorm (Thinking of playing Fed as he’s got DGW)

Rangel-Zabaleta-Kaboul (Clark, Tierney – should I play Clark instead of Kaboul/Rangel this GW as AVL face WHM which is the easiest fixture amongst the three?)

N’Zogbia-Dyer-VdV-Hazard (is Pienaar a better option than N’Zog? Just wondering.. but as you’ve stressed on AVL’s easy fixture list I think I’ll stick to N’Zog!)

Tevez-Torres-Bent (ofcourse, I have 2.5m in the bank for Rooney come GW2)

A  Here’s my thoughts

I think the federici Vorm combination at a total outlay of £11.0m is a little expensive and for that you could get Hart and a £4.0m benchwarmer which to me would get better returns. Ive shied away from the Swansea defence without Rodgers there and with 2 dodgy pre-season performances.

Same comments for Rangel. I also don’t personally like doubling up on GK and defence it just limits the rotation

Kaboul isn’t certain to play as faces competition from Gallas Dawson and even caulker. Unfortunately for security you need to upgrade to walker BAE or Vert all at £1m dearer.

Clark should be good for attacking returns but Im very nervous about villas defence under lambert. Norwich only had 3 clean sheets last year and only the relegated teams conceded more goals so Im staying away. I would stick with a spurs clean sheet out of that 3 myself.

No issue with your midfield. I think Pienaar is the safer option than NZog and if I had to choose I would go for Pienaar especially as you have Villa coverage through bent who I think will be on fire in the early part of this season.

Hope that gives you some ideas

QUESTION BARCLAYS FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE

Q Hi,

Please could you provide feedback on the following:

de Gea

McCartney
Ferdinand
Lescott
Kilgallon

Noble
Hazard
Silva
Santi Cazorla

Torres
Aguero

A Heres my comments

MCCartney is injured but expected back for the 18th. Im changing horses to deael for a bit more security at the same price

Killgallon Im just not sure who’s going to line up at CB for Sunderland. At the moment theres Cuellar killgallon and Bramble for 2 spots with brown coming back on the 25th. If I had to choose it would be Cuellar but its not safe choice

Silva only question is whether he will play as he’s had limited game time unfortunately in reverse the same could be said of Nasri who is the ready made replacement and at best a short term fix. if you want a City midfielder then you’ll need to downgrade to YYT who Im not a fan of FPL wise. However you havent got bale or VDV and to me one of them is a must have.

Carzola – Arsenals fixtures are terrible and Im leaving them for the moment. I would personally leave him out and put a striker in Heres some suggestions Jelavic Graham Cisse QPR Defoe

hope that helps

QUESTION BARCLAYS FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE

Q  Hi guys, great site, seriously marvellous effort.

My team after 8 million changes looks like this, however I’m feeling a little uneasy.

degea (ruddy)
lescott hangeland fabio (clark walker – tot might not keep a clean sheet)
nzog VDV guthrie ramires (michu)
torres (C) tevez bent

not sure whether ramires and hazard is overkill in gw1, otherwise il go vdv over eden.

any advice would be wonderful, thanks again.

A I wouldn’t put a £4.5m keeper behind De Gea. My reasoning, although it is a personal preference,  is that GKs aren’t injured that much and although their is a rotation risk there’s the Champs league, FA Cup and Carling cup as rotation options for SAF.  I wouldn’t criticise anyone for the safer option its just that Im hopng that I would only use the reserve once or twice a season which doesn’t seem good use of funds.  I would rather put the £0.5m in the security of Jagielka over Hibbert or Lescot over Zabaleta

With Clark you’re relying on attacking returns. Lamberts Norwich last year only had 3 clean sheets and pre-season hasn’t given any indication that there will be a change at Villa

I would definitely have 1 of VDV or bale, either of them is a must have in my mind with fixtures and form of last season.

Are you upgrading to Rooney or RVP for GW2

cheers and good luck
