fantasy premier league 2nd wildcard – a few short words on ownership, the template, Villa and DGW34 captains

Fantasy Premier League

I thought it might be worth a few words on the fantasy premier league 2nd wildcard focusing on ownership, the template, the Villa effect and DGW34 captains just to give you some reflection on the current state of play if you’ve activated your wildcard

fantasy premier league 2nd wildcard – a few short words on ownership, the template and DGW34 captains

Ownership

In putting your wildcard team together it’s worth having in the back of your mind those players who are highly owned and will not be in your team.  The problem with highly owned players is that should they score highly they will affect your rank massively.  So worth factoring that into your decsion.  Below then is a table of highly owned players  and their ownership in the top 10k and overall.  The top 10k ownership comes from the excellent site FPL discovery.  Defence is a little hard to do as individuals so I’ve just group the high ownership ones by team.  We also look at current transfer levels and whether they are being transferred in or out or whether it’s broadly neutral/minimal

The template

So the players with high ownership, double gameweeks that aren’t being sold are effectively the Arsenal defence and Payet.  Also Lukaku to some extent.  All in my mind essential for the up coming DGWs.

Players with high ownership, double gameweeks that are being sold are Ozil.  More about that later

Players with high ownership, double gameweeks that are neutral on sales are Man Utd and Aguero

Players with high ownership and no double gameweeks that are being sold: Kane, Vardy, Spurs Def

Players with high ownership and no double gameweeks that aren’t being sold:

So lets look at the most transferred out players so far this week:

Butland
Firmino
Vardy
Ozil
Kane

The players the most transferred in:

Lukaku
Barkley
Coutinho
De Bruyne
Sanchez

So what does this mean?

For me the key high ownership players are –  Lukaku, Payet, Arsenal defence

High ownership where transfers out are reducing the risk – Kane, Vardy, Ozil and Spurs def

High ownership single gameweekers without any transfers out – Leicester defence, Mahrez and Alli

The rest – Aguero and the Man Utd defence

So for my team Lukaku, Payet and Arsenal are in no matter what.  Vardy has already gone as have the Spurs defence.  Ozil and Kane are now in the thinking about it section due to the ownership dip.

The Leicester defence is staying but Mahrez and Alli have already gone.  Leicester are grinding out results and Alli to me is a manageable risk.

Aguero in double gameweeks is definitely staying and the Man Utd defence is staying hopefully with Villa and Palace at home in DGW34.

The DGW34 captain issue

Without a real standout captain option for the good home games that United have,  Arsenal home to WBA and Palace suddenly becomes the focus of a captain option.  Unfortunately there is no captain polls available for DGW34 Sanchez’s points and Ozil’s 4 blanks are making me wobble on Ozil.  I could possibly try and keep them both but that sounds a bit ambitous

So who are Villa playing

Chelsea’s so called “experimental” teams 4-0 demolition doesn’t mean that the exit of Remi Garde has changed things.  Worth a quick look to see who they are up against

Gameweek 33 Bournemouth (H)
Gameweek 34 Man Utd (A)
Gameweek 35 Southampton (H)
Gameweek 36 Watford (A)
Gameweek 37 Newcastle (H)
Gameweek 38 Arsenal (A)

So Man Utd, Watford, Newcastle and Arsenal are all DGW teams with a bit of extra incentive

The resulting dilemmas

So for me the main dilemma is the Ozil/Sanchez question.  Realistically to do it I would have to sell Kane or maybe Bellerin at a push.  Kane would probably be sold for Mitrovic or maybe Martial.  Kane being sold in  numbers makes me more relaxed about that.  At the moment I’ve already missed the first Sanchez price rise and with Ozil and Kane not looking like theyre going anywhere price rise tonight (FPL statistics is the site btw) tonight there’s more time to cogitate.

I did tweak the team a little with Lennon coming in for Hoolahan who was just a placeholder.  Lingard doesn’t look a price risk so he comes in for placeholder King.  S Taylor replaces Placeholder Smith but Taylor shouldn’t make the DGW so he’s just another placeholder.  Hope that makes sense!

Here’s the team.  Hope the wildcards going well
