Fantasy Premier League, fixture ease schedule

Here’s our fantasy premier league best fixtures GW24 article.  This weeks article is a little different.  Due to the uncertainty surrounding the fixtures of GW28 related to the 5th round of the FA Cup we’ve only looked at fixtures up to that date.  We’ve also focused on those teams with that uncertainty and those already removed from GW26

BACKGROUND

The schedule ranks the teams in terms of attacking easeiness.  The team with the easiest fixtures are ranked 1.  The teams with the most difficult attacking fixtures are ranked 20.

Postponed in GW26

Southampton v Arsenal
Man City v Man Utd

These are related to the clubs that are in the EFL final and will have their fixtures postponed.

These are marked in red on the schedule below

Those certain of fixtures in GW28

Bournemouth v West Ham
Everton v WBA
Hull v Swansea

These are the fixtures where both clubs are out of the FA Cup and therefore their fixtures should stand in GW28 while others could potentially be postponed depending on 5th round results

The above teams are in green

THE FIXTURE EASE SCHEDULE

GW26 and GW28 FACTORS

WBA and Everton are probably the clubs to buy early for GW28 whereas the other 4 teams have tricky fixtures.  Man City have the fixtures to be a team to hold on to players even with the blank in GW26 although they are a rotation affected team especially with the Champions League starting on the 15th February for them. Arsenal if you’re holding surplus assets are the team to let players go.  Although I personally are planning on benching Sanchez rather than transferring him out

TEAMS WITH THE BEST FIXTURES

This week is slightly different in that I’m going to concentrate on the attacking players from WBA, Man City, Burnley, Chelsea and Everton

WBA

Guaranteed to play in GW28

Matt Phillips at £5.9m is the teams RAM/CAM and has some set piece responsibility.  Has blanked in the last 3 games and has very little in the way of underlying stats.  Good points per match stats though at 4.9 and he is a 90 minute player generally.  He has returned a goal or assist in 9 of 22 games.

£6.8m forward Rondon is the CF for the team.  Like Phillips though has blanked in the last 3.  He possibly is better placed underlying stats wise although they have dipped recently.   His PPG is 3.8 and he’s only returned a goal or assist in 6 of 23 games.

Here’s the fixtures between GW24-27

Stoke (H)
West Ham (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Crystal Palace (H)

MAN CITY

Have no game in GW26.  Away to Huddersfield in the 6th round of the FA Cup so hard to believe they won’t face a blank in GW28 too.

The problem with Man City is rotation and team selection.  The Champions League starting again on the 21st Feb will exacerbate this.  The striking position is a tricky one.  Even with 2 great performances it’s hard to say that Gabriel Jesus is safe.  Aguero is anything but safe.

In the midfield De Bruyne is the safest option but definitely the most expensive at £10.5m.  He’s been fantastic in his last 2 games and has reasonable underlying stats although mainly assist based.  He also has the best points per match of any midfielder for City at 5.3. He’s been pretty consistent too returning a goal or assist in 12/22 matches

The safest starter of the others is probably £7.7m RAM Sterling has started the last 8 and pretty much played 90 mins or thereabouts in all of them returning a goal and 7 assists in those games.  His overall points per game is 4.9.

Swansea (H)
Bournemouth (A)
BLANK
Sunderland (A)

BURNLEY

Home to Lincoln City in the 5th round of the FA Cup so look certain to progress and therefore having a blank in GW28

The 2 forwards are the only options for me

£6.2m forward Gray only has a PPG of 3.9.  He also may have only scored 1 goal in his last 4 but he was terrific against Leicester, has pens and his underlying stats have improved recently to a respectable level.  He’s pretty much guaranteed 90 mins.

His strike partner £4.5m Barnes has a PPG of 2.9 and again only has 1 assist in his last 4.  He also has been playing well though and again has some underlying stats.  Can be substituted but a good 3-5-2 option having started the last 7

Watford (A)
Chelsea (H)
Hull (A)
Swansea (A)

CHELSEA

Away to Wolves in the 5th round who put out a weakened Liverpool team.  Hard to see Chelsea going out though as with no European fixtures they can afford to put out a decent team.  Likely to see a blank GW28

With the rotation of Willian and Pedro the options stay at Hazard and Costa for me

£10.4m forward Costa (PPG 6.1)  is the form pick and has been very consistent returning a goal or assist in 16/21 games this season.  Great underlying stats too.

£10.2m LAM Hazard has the same 6.1 PPG but isn’t in the same place form wise with 3 assists in his last 5 games.  He’s also seen his underlying stats absolutely fall off a cliff.  To add to the misery the last 3 games has seen him substituted in the 70’s range of minutes culminating with him being off the pitch for the penalty he would have normally taken against Liverpool.  Keeping him would be a faith in his class as a player and the fixtures

 Arsenal (H)
Burnley (A)
Swansea (H)
West Ham (A)

EVERTON

Guaranteed to play in GW28

The 2 attacking options here are £9.6m forward Lukaku who has a PPG of 5.4.  He’s returned in 10/22 games although for the price you’d be hoping for 50%.  Underlying stats are ok without being fantastic but he is the attacking focal point of the team

The next option is £7.0m mid Barkley (PPG 3.7).  He plays centrally although I’d like him to be closer to Lukaku than he sometimes is.  Has some set piece responsibility.  He also seems to have got over the Koeman wobbles and is pretty much a 90 minute player now.  He does have some ok underlying stats too.  The problem is that he’s only returned a goal or assist in 7 of 22 games.

I have considered Mirallas but he is just too substitutable.  Against Stoke for instance he was taken off after 68 minutes

Bournemouth (H)
Middlesbrough (A)
Sunderland (H)
Spurs (A)
