Rooney

Great fixtures and will play as the lead striker for Man Utd while RVP is getting back to fitness.  Will have pens and a share of set pieces.  A consistent proven performer in FPL and a good captain option.  Don’t include him at your peril with a 44% ownership.

First 6 fixtures:

Swansea (H)
Sunderland (A)
Burnley (A)
QPR (H)
Leicester (A)
West Ham (H)

Costa

A really good pre-season after being the 3rd top scorer in Spain last season for the Champions Atletico Madrid.  With the wealth of attacking and creative midfielders he is bound to get numerous chances.  Lets also not forget the good fixtures and an excellent preseason.  Consistent selection due to lack of alternatives will see him as the best Chelsea candidate for captaincy.

Burnley (A)
Leicester (H)
Everton (A)
Swansea (H)
Man City (A)
Aston Villa (H)

Sturridge

A really consistent point scorer last season.  Interestingly did his best scoring before Suarez was back into the team so that does point towards it not hindering him.  Will be the focal point of a very attacking team.  ConSistency makes him a good captain option although doesn’t rotate home and away well with Rooney.

Southampton (H)
Man City (A)
Spurs (A)
Aston Villa (H)
West Ham (A)
Everton (H)

Dzeko

Not the most consistent returner and can have off days or months for that matter but when he’s hot he’s hot.  Good value and the most likely player in the short term (even if Pellegrini goes to 1 striker with Silva behind) to hold his place.  When Aguero is fit he’s the most likely partner as his style suits a partnership more easily than JoVetic who likes to drift off the front like Aguero.  Tricky fixtures is the negative but City score no matter who the opposition are.

Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (H)
Stoke (H)
Arsenal (A)
Chelsea (H)
Hull (A)

Giroud

If you think Dzeko can have off days putting the ball into the net then Giroud makes him look consistently deadly.  Like Dzeko when he’s hot he’s hot and has a fantastic creative midfield behind him to create chances.  Wenger started Sanogo in the Community Shield but it’s hard not to see Giroud  starting GW1

Crystal Palace (H)
Everton (A)
Leicester (A)
Man City (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Spurs (H)

Jovetic

With Lamela the star of preseason.  That doesn’t necessarily translate to success but he will at least start until Aguero is fit.  Really shown an ability to finish.  It’s just how long he will start

Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (H)
Stoke (H)
Arsenal (A)
Chelsea (H)
Hull (A)

Adebayor

A player who was fantastic when returning to the team last year. Will have pens if Soldado not on pitch.   Poccetinho though will demand pressing high up the pitch which doesn’t really suit Adebayor’s , shall we say “energy conserving” style.  However assuming he gets over this then he should pick up good chances close to goal from the pressing.  Has some gametime risk against Soldado who has shown a little pre-season form.  Fixtures could be better.

West Ham (A)
QPR (H)
Liverpool (H)
Sunderland (A)
West Brom (H)
Arsenal (A)

Bony

Came into form in the last part of the season when Monk consistently picked him.  Has pen duties.  Also showed an ability to score against any team so doesn’t seem to be that fixture sensitive.

Man Utd (A)
Burnley (H)
West Brom (H)
Chelsea (A)
Southampton (H)
Sunderland (A)

Graziano Pelle

A punt based on good fixtures and a low ownership as a differential.  The negatives are the Southampton team being completely stripped of all it’s key players and having to adjust to a new signing.  Another is how new players to the premier league have struggled especially outside the top 4 challenging teams

Bojan

The only player with 3-5-2 potential in my lineup above.

Sensational preseason form and a player of real pedigree who just has lost his way in previous years.  Will he succeed  if he ever will do it, it’s with these fixtures before the weather turns.  High ownership doesn’t make him a differential though.  Will probably play in the attacking midfield 3 on the wider positions rather than as an out and out striker

Some other 3-5-2 rotation options:

£5.5m Nugent of Leicester to rotate with £5.0m midfielder S Davis of Southampton

£5.5m Agbonlahor to roate with £5.0m midfielder Dorrans of WBA

£5.0m Jutkiewicz of Burnley with £5.0m mid Livermore of Hull
