Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s our fantasy premier league best forwards for GW1.  There’s a table of stats plus some narrative on each player as well as the first 6 fixtures

fantasy premier league best forwards for GW1 “ones to watch”

Here’s the table of stats with a key underneath.

I’ve left out a number of players that are either a gametime doubt due to selection or injury.  Injury includes Sturridge,Defoe, Lukaku and Sakho.  Gamtime risk or not fit for GW1 includes Giroud (match fitness), Rashford (Ibrahimovic) Batshuayi (formation), Janssen (Kane), Musa (Okazaki), Llorente (Baston) and Carroll (Ayew, formation)

Also the new players don’t have FPL points to analyse which is why I’ve analysed everyone on a goals and assists per minute basis. A couple of the players I didn’t analyse last year also don’t have consistency stats.

fpl...gw1fwdstats

FPL pts pm: The minutes it takes a player to take earn an FPL point. The lower the better
Consistency: the % of games that a player gets a goal or assist
Mins per G/A: The amount of minutes played it takes to get a goal or assist
Fixture ease: The ranking of fixture easiness on the basis of the first 6 and 3 fixtures

Aguero

No narrative needed for the Man City forward.  The best striker in the league bar none.  High ownership and captain propensity makes it a very dangerous game to not have him.  Will have pens.

Sunderland (H)
Stoke (A)
West Ham (H)
Man Utd (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Swansea (A)

Ibrahimovic

The Man Utd striker has a fantastic record for PSG and for Sweden.  It’s just his age and adjusting to a far more competitive league.  Despite the goal in the community shield it was a pretty immobile performance.  Alot of unknowns for the price.  Like Aguero he has a high ownership and likely to be a captain favourite so risky not to own.

Bournemouth (A)
Southampton (H)
Hull (A)
Man City (H)
Watford (A)
Leicester (H)

Kane

A great finish to the season but a disappointing Euro’s for the Spurs striker.  Has shown some life in pre-season.  Does have good fixtures and has pens plus 2 proven years in the premier league as a top goalscorer.  Will take pens.

Everton (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Liverpool (H)
Stoke (A)
Sunderland (H)
Middlesbrough (A)

Vardy

Unbelievable season last year for the Leicester striker.  It’s just the price hike and whether he can repeat it with the additional demands of the Champions League.  May get pens.

Hull (A)
Arsenal (H)
Swansea (H)
Liverpool (A)
Burnley (H)
Man Utd (A)

Costa

The Chelsea striker hasn’t had a great pre-season what with the transfer rumours which are now focusing on Serie A clubs.  Is a proven goalscorer though and there’s some good fixtures in the first 6.

West Ham (H)
Watford (A)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)
Liverpool (H)
Arsenal (A)

Negredo

Despite being regarded as a bit of a flop his raw stats aren’t too bad and he’s at a pretty kind price.  Fixtures aren’t too bad and he has played in the league before with an impressive 9 goals and 5 assists at a goal or assist every 123 minutes.  The question is whether Middlesborough will be attacking enough to support a decent goal haul.

Stoke (H)
Sunderland (A)
West Brom (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Everton (A)
Spurs (H)

Gray

The Burnley striker is the pre-season form guy with 9 goals in pre-season.  This hasn’t been a great indicator of actual season returns.  His Championship form has been good without being exceptional and players have made the step up successfully in recent years.  Being new to the league always carries some risk though.  Should be on pens.

Swansea (H)
Liverpool (H)
Chelsea (A)
Hull (H)
Leicester (A)
Watford (H)

Rooney

The stats of last season aren’t relevant given he played alot of his time in midfield.  He’s a proven goal scorer it’s just that he will be playing behind Ibrahimovic and my preference is to have the forward leading the line

Bournemouth (A)
Southampton (H)
Hull (A)
Man City (H)
Watford (A)
Leicester (H)

Rondon

The WBA striker had a pretty ordinary record last year and he plays in a fairly defensive team.  This is all about fixtures which are good

Crystal Palace (A)
Everton (H)
Middlesbrough (H)
Bournemouth (A)
West Ham (H)
Stoke (A)

Wickham

Wickham again is about fixtures primarily rather than proven form.  He can score in patches though so worth a gamble in good fixtures.  The Benteke to Palace rumours are getting stronger though and that would end him as an option

West Brom (H)
Spurs (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Middlesbrough (A)
Stoke (H)
Sunderland (A)

Long

Likely to lead the line for Southampton with a pretty decent record from last season.

Watford (H)
Man Utd (A)
Sunderland (H)
Arsenal (A)
Swansea (H)
West Ham (A)

Wilson

Had a good start to last season with Bournemouth before a serious knee injury.  Will be interesting to see how he reacts.  Should have penalties.

Man Utd (H)
West Ham (A)
Crystal Palace (A)
West Brom (H)
Man City (A)
Everton (H)

Deeney

The Watford striker does play deeper than his strike partner Ighalo but finished last season stronger and should have pens.  Tough fixtures.

Southampton (A)
Chelsea (H)
Arsenal (H)
West Ham (A)
Man Utd (H)
Burnley (A)

Ighalo

Faded badly in the latter parts of the season after a strong start.  Remains to be see whether he can get back to last years early season form

Southampton (A)
Chelsea (H)
Arsenal (H)
West Ham (A)
Man Utd (H)
Burnley (A)

Berahino

The WBA striker had a pretty poor season last year and constantly surrounded by transfer rumours.  Does have pens and good fixtures

Crystal Palace (A)
Everton (H)
Middlesbrough (H)
Bournemouth (A)
West Ham (H)
Stoke (A)

Hernandez

The Hull strikers stats weren’t far off Grays in the Championship but his fixtures to start with aren’t easy.  His record when last in the premier league at a goal and an assist every 263 minutes was pretty ordinary.  Does have pens and the advantage that given the state of Hull’s defence they will have no alternative but to attack

Leicester (H)
Swansea (A)
Man Utd (H)
Burnley (A)
Arsenal (H)
Liverpool (A)
