fantasy premier league best forwards – GW16 “ones to watch”

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s our fantasy premier league best strikers gameweek 16 article where we outline the best strikers.  There’s a table of stats with a key underneath which gives enough information to help you make a choice over which striker you may want to transfer in as a replacement.  It’s important though to read the narrative with the next 6 fixtures coming up as this is where I highlight their prospects and cautionary factors.

Undlyg stats rank:  I’ve ranked the players according to their underlying shooting and creating chances stats

Leaders in key stats

Minutes per FPL point

  1. Vardy
  2. Ighalo
  3. Lukaku
  4. Giroud

Consistency

  1. Vardy
  2. Lukaku
  3. Ighalo
  4. Giroud

Underlying stats

  1. Giroud
  2. Vardy
  3. Ighalo
  4. Kane

Fixtures

  1. Martial
  2. Kane
  3. Lukaku
  4. Benteke

So no one in all 4 categories.  Vardy, Ighalo, Lukaku and Giroud are in 3.  Kane in 2 and Martial and Benteke are in 1.

Lukaku

Has it all at the moment. Points per minute, consistency and good fixtures especially the next 3.  Only missed out in the underlying stats category and there’s nothing wrong with those.  Has also become a 90 minute player and should have pens possibly even with Baines back in the team after last season.

Norwich (A)
Leicester (H)
Newcastle (A)
Stoke (H)
Spurs (H)
Man City (A)

Vardy

It’s incredible to think of his performance this season.  Has performed in every category beyond any expectations.  Amazing returns, consistency and underlying stats.  Here’s the thing however.  The fixtures now turn and the question is do you want to have 2 Leicester players with these fixtures.  Hard to imagine anyone selling Mahrez after last week.  However Vardy’s returned against Man Utd, Arsenal and Spurs this season.  The Arsernal game saw a 12 point return so a change in fixtures is no change in fortune potentially.  Just to make it trickier he’s still owned by virtually every active FPL manager so if you sell be prepared for a massive ranking drop when he scores.  The only mitigation is that he wont probably be a captain target so that may limit it somewhat.  Despite his all action style he is a 90 minute player

Chelsea (H)
Everton (A)
Liverpool (A)
Man City (H)
Bournemouth (H)
Spurs (A)

Giroud

Despite not being a guaranteed starter for most of the season he started the last 6 since Walcott got injured.  Walcott is the only shadow over him now he has come back to fitness as everything else has been fantastic.  However given Girouds form and the lack of fit midfielders meaning Walcott is needed there  it’s possible that Giroud will continue to start. Away to Aston Villa is a good time to be transferred in.

Aston Villa (A)
Man City (H)
Southampton (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (A)

Ighalo

Has gone under the radar somewhat but stats don’t lie and his are excellent in every category.  Also a good reliable 90 minute player.  However like Vardy the fixtures are about to turn after Sunderland next.  However Ighalo hasn’t been as successful against the better teams as Vardy has.  It’s been a blank against Arsenal and Man City and a goal and assist against Everton and Man Utd. Vardy and Ighalo are the ultimate form vs fixtures test in action.

Sunderland (A)
Liverpool (H)
Chelsea (A)
Spurs (H)
Man City (H)
Southampton (A)

Kane

Would be far higher up the pecking order except for a sluggish start to the season which is making his consistency stats and points per minute stats poor.  However the underlying stats have always been good and now the fixtures are about to really improve.  He also has the history of last season when he was a 21 goal and 7 assist hero.  Hard to ignore given his ownership among the active FPL managers and his captain favourite status for GW16 with Newcastle next.  Also has pens and was on the bench in the Europa League game

Newcastle (H)
Southampton (A)
Norwich (H)
Watford (A)
Everton (A)
Leicester (H)

Martial

This is about one thing and 1 thing only.  Fixtures as stats wise there’s very little going on.  Is at least leading the line rather than playing on the flank.  Lasting the 90 minutes as well.

Bournemouth (A)
Norwich (H)
Stoke (A)
Chelsea (H)
Swansea (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (A)

Beneteke

Stats are okish.  Gametime is still uncertain though.  The injury to Sturridge helps but the false 9 Firmino scenario still remains a risk.

West Brom (H)
Watford (A)
Leicester (H)
Sunderland (A)
West Ham (A)
Arsenal (H)

Deeney

In the shadow of Igahalo early on it’s really all turned around with 4 goals and 2 assists  in the last 4 games scoring in each of those games.  Also has pens.  That run also included a goal against Man Utd.  Another one down to the form vs fixture test.

Sunderland (A)
Liverpool (H)
Chelsea (A)
Spurs (H)
Man City (H)
Southampton (A)

Bojan

Has struggled for starts with injuries and appears no where near a 90 minute player but has shown glimpes of form but still a big punt.  Has alot of talent though

West Ham (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Man Utd (H)
Everton (A)
West Brom (A)
Norwich (H)
