FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE BEST FORWARDS GW2 – “ONES TO WATCH”

It’s very early on in the season and it’s difficult to follow a pattern based on the very limited stats that have been produced. So at this stage it’s harder to rank the players than it will be in 5 or 6 games. However we have notionally ranked them but there’s enough information for you to make your own decision. I’ve decided to keep the number of players to 10. That does tend to mean that the players are at the higher value end.

Here’s the table of stats with a key underneath:

fpl...gw212wForwards

Key:

FPL pts pm: The minutes it takes a player to take earn an FPL point. The lower the better
Consistency: the % of games that a player gets a goal or assist
10+ pts %: the percentage of games that the players has got 10 or more points
Mins per G/A: The amount of minutes played it takes to get a goal or assist
Fixt ease 6/3: The teams rank of fixtures in terms of easiness over the next 6 and 3 fixtures
16/17 pts: The FPL points so far this season

Aguero

Scored with a penalty against Sunderland and it could have been a load more given the chances he had.  Should hold onto penalties given Guardiola’s statements after his 2 penalty misses and hat trick in Bucharest.  That 5-0 win though should see him rested for the return leg which is a major boost for FPL managers and his minutes this week.  Mixed fixtures

Next 6 fixtures:

Stoke (A)
West Ham (H)
Man Utd (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Swansea (A)
Spurs (A)

Ibrahimovic

You can’t deny the goals against Bournemouth and Leicester but it’s hardly been a convincing performance for either Ibrahimovic or Man Utd.  The ghost of LVG still seems to haunt the team with some quite pedestrian passing.  The Bournemouth game would have been interesting if Francis’ mistake hadn’t gifted United the first goal.  Despite the goal the stats were pretty ordinary. However it maybe that he doesn’t need a load of chances to score.  We shall see. Given his ownership of 45% , his pedigree, captain potential and reasonable fixtures he’s a very dangerous player not to own.  Interesting that only 4/10 of the top 10 FPL managers have chosen to own him

Southampton (H)
Hull (A)
Man City (H)
Watford (A)
Leicester (H)
Stoke (H)

Kane

Finished the season strongly although the Euro’s along with the rest of the England team couldn’t have gone much worse.  It was a poor start against Everton and the stats certainly underlined that.  However this was against a very organised Everton team seemingly transformed already defensively by Koeman. There’s also some stories that he may even drop back as a support striker for new boy Janssen.  However it’s very early to judge someone who has such a strong record over 2 seasons.  The next fixture too is a good one.

Crystal Palace (H)
Liverpool (H)
Stoke (A)
Sunderland (H)
Middlesbrough (A)
Man City (H)

Costa

If there were alot of doubts about him after transfer rumours and some disenchantment with Chelsea then that was all put right against West Ham with his late goal and a strong performance.  Really good fixtures coming up.  How the supposed transfer of Lukaku will affect things is the question

Watford (A)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)
Liverpool (H)
Arsenal (A)
Hull (A)

Lukaku

Alot of rumours about a return to Chelsea.  Missed the opening match through injury but expected to be fit for the game away to his former club WBA.  Fixtures couldn’t be much better if he stays at Everton.

West Brom (A)
Stoke (H)
Sunderland (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Crystal Palace (H)

Carroll

Starved of service against Chelsea it was a pretty ordinary start to the season for Andy Carroll.  Feghouli not being fit is a negative given that he must have been bought to provide crosses for the big man.  However there’s some good fixtures ahead and the next one very much so.  On his day he can be  devastating.  It’s just when that day is

Bournemouth (H)
Man City (A)
Watford (H)
West Brom (A)
Southampton (H)
Middlesbrough (H)

Vardy

2 great chances to score which he didn’t take.  However it’s hard to say that after last years phenomenal season that he should be consigned to the has beens of FPL.  Much might depend on the make up of the Arsenal defence and Koscielny in particular for his prospects this week.  Fixtures are a mixture of the great and terrible

Arsenal (H)
Swansea (H)
Liverpool (A)
Burnley (H)
Man Utd (A)
Southampton (H)

Defoe

2 clear cut chances was all Jermain Defoe needed against Man City.  He made a mockery of fitness worries and showed what a lethal finisher he is.  Fixtures are ok.  Should get more chances in a David Moyes lead team than a Big Sam one.

Middlesbrough (H)
Southampton (A)
Everton (H)
Spurs (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
West Brom (H)

Rondon

Last season was pretty ordinary and he is within one of the most defensive minded teams in the premier league.  However his goal and his stats against Palace were really very good.   The fixtures could be a lot worse too and he definitely looks like he has potential as a cheap striker this season

Everton (H)
Middlesbrough (H)
Bournemouth (A)
West Ham (H)
Stoke (A)
Sunderland (A)

Llorente

A good assist for Swansea as well as an excellent performance.  Although he’s 31 and had a pretty ordinary season last year for Sevilla this is a guy who’s played 24 times for Spain and has scored 88 goals and 27 assists in 285 games in La Liga.  So he’s no mug thats for sure.  How much of his performance was down to the Burnley defence is still to be determined but the next fixture is definitely a good one home to Hull.  After that though the fixtures fall apart.

Hull (H)
Leicester (A)
Chelsea (H)
Southampton (A)
Man City (H)
Liverpool (H)
