fantasy premier league best forwards – GW23 “ones to watch”

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s our fantasy premier league best forwards gameweek 23 article where we outline the best forwards for the gameweek and beyond. There’s a table of stats with a key underneath which gives enough information to help you make a choice over which striker you may want to transfer although I have notionally ranked them. It’s important though to read the narrative with the next 6 fixtures coming up as this is where I highlight their prospects and cautionary factors.

Just to let you know I’ve changed the recent form table shown as “last 6 games”.  It now shows the consistency rate ie the number of games that a goal or assist is returned in the last 6 games played.  I’ve put next to that the FPL points in the last 6 games

Fixt ease:  The ease of attacking fixtures coming up.  Next 6/next 3

Ighalo is in 4.  Aguero, Lukaku and Giroud are in 3.  Kane is in 2.  Rooney Cost and Valencia are in 1

Aguero

Injuries and inconsistency have been his bugbear this season.  Overall returns and underlying stats have been good.  Now looks fit too.  Will probably always be a minutes and rotation risk but can do a lot of damage irrespective of time on the pitch.  Has pens

West Ham (A)
Sunderland (A)
Leicester (H)
Spurs (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (A)

Lukaku

2 very good home fixtures are the attraction here.  However Lukaku has been consistent all season and this year has shown the ability also to get big scores,  Good underlying stats show the season has been no fluke.   Should have pens.

Swansea (H)
Newcastle (H)
Stoke (A)
West Brom (H)
Liverpool (A)
Aston Villa (A)

Giroud

Just keeps on churning out results.  Job share with Giroud when Sanchez comes back is the only risk.

Chelsea (H)
Southampton (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Leicester (H)
Man Utd (A)
Swansea (H)

Ighalo

Hasn’t returned for 3 games and there’s been a drop off in underlying stats over the last 6 gameweeks.  A few games aren’t  necessarily an issue but the fixtures are also pretty mixed and it’s now going to be an interesting time

Newcastle (H)
Chelsea (H)
Spurs (A)
Crystal Palace (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Man Utd (A)

Kane

Good form and good underlying stats which have also improved recently.  Early season slow start which has hampered overall returns and consistency.  Has pens.

Crystal Palace (A)
Norwich (A)
Watford (H)
Man City (A)
Swansea (H)
West Ham (A)

Costa

Incredibly inconsistent this season but finally showing form post Mourinho.  Some trying fixtures in the short term.  No underlying stats though

Arsenal (A)
Watford (A)
Man Utd (H)
Newcastle (H)
Southampton (A)
Norwich (A)

Rooney

Played in various positions this season but finally showing some form leading the line.  Even showing some recent underlying stats

Southampton (H)
Stoke (H)
Chelsea (A)
Sunderland (A)
Arsenal (H)
Watford (H)

Vardy

After a fantastic start it’s now 5 games with only 1 assist.  A reasonable but not catastrophic drop off in underlying stats.  Could get pens after taken off Mahrez.  Man City and Arsenal away in GW25 and GW26 could be an exit point if you haven’t already

Stoke (H)
Liverpool (H)
Man City (A)
Arsenal (A)
Norwich (H)
West Brom (H)

Valencia

A  fixture punt only for the games after Man City

Man City (H)
Aston Villa (H)
Southampton (A)
Norwich (A)
Sunderland (H)
Spurs (H)
