fantasy premier league best forwards GW27 “ones to watch”

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s our fantasy premier league best forwards gameweek 27 article where we outline the best forwards for the gameweek and beyond. There’s a table of stats with a key underneath which gives enough information to help you make a choice over which striker you may want to transfer although I have notionally ranked them. It’s important though to read the narrative with the next 6 fixtures coming up as this is where I highlight their prospects and cautionary factors.

You will remember that GW27 has 4 teams not playing due to the Cap 1 final in Liverpool, Man City, Everton and Newcastle.  You will also see in the article I talk alot about GW30 postponements for the FA Cup quarters.  You may remember in my fixture ease article which affects this that I have assumed Arsenal will win their replay against Hull in the FA Cup and have no fixture in GW30.

Vardy

The Leicester striker has fixtures in both GW27 and GW30.  Ticks all the boxes at the moment.  Season returns and consistency plus form and fixtures.  Good season and recent underlying stats show all this is no fluke.  Has pens.

Norwich (H)
West Brom (H)
Watford (A)
Newcastle (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Southampton (H)

Aguero

The Man City striker has no game in GW27 but a fixture in GW30.  In great form despite a pretty inconsistent start. No one has better underlying stats either on a season or recent basis. Mixed fixtures.  Also has pens.

Gameweek 27 –
Liverpool (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Norwich (A)
Man Utd (H)
Bournemouth (A)

Kane

The Spurs striker is an injury doubt for the weekend after being ruled out of the Europa League with a broken nose.  A slow start to the season has diluted his stats.  However he has very good recent form plus season and recent underlying stats.  Fixtures are ok.  Also has pens which have really helped him this season

Swansea (H)
West Ham (A)
Arsenal (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Liverpool (A)

Costa

The Chelsea striker as a fixture in GW27 but not in GW30.  After a tough start in the Mourinho part of the season he’s shown form more like himself.  That upturn is no fluke either as we’ve seen an excellent upturn in his underlying recent stats as well as his actual return.

Southampton (A)
Norwich (A)
Stoke (H)
– Gameweek 30 –
West Ham (H)
Aston Villa (A)

Giroud

The Arsenal striker has a fixture in GW27 and will lose the GW30 fixture if they can beat Hull in the FA Cup replay.  If the Arsenal striker could get anywhere near his fair share of bonus points he would be in a far better position.  Despite getting 12 goals and 4 assists he’s only got some sort of bonus 4 times and 9 points in total.  Someone like Deeney for example with similar points has 16.  However there’s no doubting Girouds season consistency and his underlying stats both over the season and recently as they are only eclipsed by Aguero.  A couple of negatives though is a  little drop in recent actual returns  and does have the risk of rotation with Walcott sometimes playing as striker.  That seems to have diminshed in the premier league though.

Man Utd (A)
Swansea (H)
Spurs (A)
West Brom (H) GW30
Everton (A)
Watford (H)

Afobe

The Bournemouth striker has no blanks in GW27 and GW30.  There’s only limited data in order to make an assessment but he’s certainly off to a good start.  Does have a reasonable amount of competition for his place though at this early stage but a proven goal scorer at least at Championship level.

Watford (A)
Southampton (H)
Newcastle (A)
Swansea (H)
Spurs (A)
Man City (H)

Lukaku

The Everton striker has no fixture in GW27 or GW30 so it’s an option to leave in your team only if you’re very well covered for those games.  Good season returns and consistency but recent returns have dropped off.  Underlying stats though aren’t any worse than the rest of the season which is encouraging.  Does have pens.

Gameweek 27 –
Aston Villa (A)
West Ham (H)
– Gameweek 30 –
Arsenal (H)
Man Utd (A)

Ighalo

The Watford striker has had a fantastic debut season but has tailed off recently.  Unlike Lukaku though his recent underlying stats have fallen off a cliff especially compared to the rest of the season where they are excellent.

Bournemouth (H)
Man Utd (A)
Leicester (H)
– Gameweek 30 –
Stoke (H)
Arsenal (A)

Deeney

Ighalo’s striker partner for Watford although does play alot deeper and has the pens.  No shooting stats although pens have made up for it this seasoon.  Like Deeney though recent form could be better although has been a reasonably consistent returner over the season.

Bournemouth (H)
Man Utd (A)
Leicester (H)
– Gameweek 30 –
Stoke (H)
Arsenal (A)
