FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE BEST FORWARDS GW4 – “ONES TO WATCH”

So were continuing to base our stats and ratings on a mixture of last years and this years stats. Once we get to about gameweek 6 then we’ll start focusing on this years stats primarily. So at this stage it’s harder to rank the players than it will be in 5 or 6 games. However we have notionally ranked them but the idea is to give you enough information for you to make your own decision. I’ve decided to keep the number of players to 10. That does tend to mean that the players are at the higher value end.

Here’s the table of stats with a key underneath(Prices as of Wednesday)

fpl-gw412wfwds

FPL pts pm: The minutes it takes a player to take earn an FPL point. The lower the betterKey
Consistency: the % of games that a player gets a goal or assist
10+ pts %: the percentage of games that the players has got 10 or more points
Mins per G/A: The amount of minutes played it takes to get a goal or assist
Fixt ease 6/3: The teams rank of fixtures in terms of easiness over the next 6 and 3 fixtures
16/17 pts: The FPL points so far this season

Here’s some narrative on each players prospects plus the next 6 fixtures:

Ibrahimovic

The Man Utd striker has started the season well with 3 goals and assumed penalty duties.  The underlying stats although not top drawer certainly don’t show his start as being a fluke.  The fixtures though aren’t particularly great.  However given his captain popularity and form plus his 60% ownership he’s a dangerous player not to own.

Next 6 fixtures:

Man City (H)
Watford (A)
Leicester (H)
Stoke (H)
Liverpool (A)
Chelsea (A)

Costa

The Chelsea striker has scored twice and added an assist returning in each of his 3 games.  Good underlying stats back this up too.  However, 2 yellow cards have ostensibly prevented bonus points though and this maybe an ongoing issue.  The other negative is the tricky stats that are coming up.  Another obvious Aguero replacement.

Swansea (A)
Liverpool (H)
Arsenal (A)
Hull (A)
Leicester (H)
Man Utd (H)

Lukaku

With no goals ior assists in his first 2 games the Everton’s strikers ranking is about his upcoming fixtures, undoubted ability and underlying stats which are good.  It’s certainly not about current form which has seen a drought continuing from last season

Sunderland (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Man City (A)
Burnley (A)

Defoe

2 goals in his first 3 games for the Sunderland striker show that the proven PL striker still has it as last season showed.  Underlying stats are ok if not wonderful

Everton (H)
Spurs (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
West Brom (H)
Stoke (A)
West Ham (A)

Negredo

There’s no doubting the great start for the Middlesboro striker.  A goal and 2 assists is a pretty impressive first 3 games.  It’s just that there’s virtually no striker in the league who has worse underlying stats.  Although it’s a bit early to say that he’s built on sand it’s enough to at least flag it

Crystal Palace (H)
Everton (A)
Spurs (H)
West Ham (A)
Watford (H)
Arsenal (A)

Rooney

A goal and 2 assists is a pretty good start for the Man Utd number 10 come winger if required.  You can’t really judge his last season stats as he mainly played in midfield.  The continuing emergence of Rashford is perhaps his greatest threat at the moment.  However as a number 10 he should return.  Fixtures are tricky though

Man City (H)
Watford (A)
Leicester (H)
Stoke (H)
Liverpool (A)
Chelsea (A)

Giroud

Would be higher up except for some gametime risk.  Although his total of 13 minutes in 3 games is due to the Euro’s in part.  Sanchez and now Perez plus even Walcott can play as the lone striker.  However with these fixtures he does have the potential to be very dangerous

Southampton (H)
Hull (A)
Chelsea (H)
Burnley (A)
Swansea (H)
Middlesbrough (H)

Benteke

Just the 1 start for 90 minutes which was encouraging.  Although he blanked there’s no doubting his ability to score and some good fixtures coming up could be the platform he needs

Middlesbrough (A)
Stoke (H)
Sunderland (A)
Everton (A)
West Ham (H)
Leicester (A)

Hernandez

A pretty decent start considering the fixtures with a goal and an assist to start in the first 3 games.  The underlying stats are pretty good too.  The fixtures also get better over the 6 .

Burnley (A)
Arsenal (H)
Liverpool (A)
Chelsea (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Stoke (H)

Kane

Just an assist for the Spurs striker in the first 3 games.  Add to that poor underlying stats plus a change in position at times to a number 10 all has to cast alot of doubt on his selection.  However this is a guy who’s scored 46 PL games in his last 2 seasons and has some very good fixtures coming up.

Stoke (A)
Sunderland (H)
Middlesbrough (A)
Man City (H)
West Brom (A)
Bournemouth (A)
