FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE BEST FORWARDS GW6 – “ONES TO WATCH”
So were continuing to base our stats and ratings on a mixture of last years and this years stats. This will be the last week though after GW6 then we’ll start focusing on this seasons stats primarily. So at this stage it’s harder to rank the players than it will be in 5 or 6 games. Here’s some narrative on each players prospects plus the next 6 fixtures:
AGUERO
Back after suspension for GW6. The best striker in the league, great stats, great underlying shooting stats, has penalties and a go to captain option.
Swansea (A)
Spurs (A)
Everton (H)
Southampton (H)
West Brom (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
LUKAKU
After 3 blanks to start with it’s a hat trick and then a goal and an assist in GW5. The underlying stats back this up too. Does have a toe injury although expected to be fit for GW6. 3 of the next 4 fixtures are excellent
Bournemouth (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Man City (A)
Burnley (A)
West Ham (H)
Chelsea (A)
IBRAHIMOVIC
Has returned in 4/5 games and has the underlying stats to back this up but still being sold en masse. That seems to be more about Man Utd and him being a natural target to get Aguero back in. Has pens.
Leicester (H)
Stoke (H)
Liverpool (A)
Chelsea (A)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)
COSTA
Returned a goal or assist in every game and has managed to keep the yellow cards to 3 in his first 5 games. Everyones favourite pantomine villain has been in excellent form but faces some tricky fixtures coming up. Excellent underlying shooting stats show it’s all no fluke
Arsenal (A)
Hull (A)
Leicester (H)
Man Utd (H)
Southampton (A)
Everton (H)
STURRIDGE
There’s no doubting what a quality striker this guy is. However does he suit Klopps high pressing style? Played in the last gameweek as Firmino was injured. If you select him home to Hull it comes with a big big heath warning about gametime. Great underlying stats.
Hull (H)
Swansea (A)
Man Utd (H)
West Brom (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Watford (H)
DEENEY AND IGHALO
I thought I’d do these as a pair to compare and contrast. Ighalo plays the furtherest forward but seems a little wayward in his finishing. Deeney plays behind Ighalo but has pens and seems a more reliable finisher. Neither standout in terms of underlying stats. You make your pick and take your chances
Burnley (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Middlesbrough (A)
Swansea (A)
Hull (H)
Liverpool (A)
BENTEKE
Just 1 goal in his 3 games of this season and against pretty ordinary opposition which is disappointing. If you blank when your team scores 4 thats really not great too. Underlying stats aren’t anything exceptional either. Fixtures are a bit mixed. This is about his undoubted talent and him playing in a team built for his strengths
Sunderland (A)
Everton (A)
West Ham (H)
Leicester (A)
Liverpool (H)
Burnley (A)
DEFOE
2 goals in his first 5 games although coming off the back of 2 blanks. Reasonable underlying stats. Some good fixtures coming up and his ability to finish are the attractions
Crystal Palace (H)
West Brom (H)
Stoke (A)
West Ham (A)
Arsenal (H)
Bournemouth (A)
GRAY
The man who couldn’t stop scoring in the championship has now had 3 blanks after his goal and assist performance against Liverpool. The underlying stats aren’t really helping you hold on to him. A home game to the fairly leaky Watford defence though does help holding on to him but the fixtures apart from that aren’t great
Watford (H)
Arsenal (H)
Southampton (A)
Everton (H)
Man Utd (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
JANSSEN
Although Pochettino doesn’t seem to want to give anything remotely coming close to a time frame for a return it seems that Kane will be out for a while. Although Son could do the job Janssen seems to be the natural replacement at a cheaper price. New to the league but a fantastic record in Holland. Fixtures could be better though after the next good fixture.
Middlesbrough (A)
Man City (H)
West Brom (A)
Bournemouth (A)
Leicester (H)
Arsenal (A)
