Here’s our fantasy premier league best midfield transfers GW13 article where we rank the choice of midfielders as transfer targets for GW13. I’ve concentrated on a simplified table of stats, plus some narrative on the top 10 ranked players and their prospects. We also give the next 6 fixtures for each player. Hopefully this will help you make you choice of transfers for GW13.

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE BEST MIDFIELD TRANSFERS  GW13 – “ONES TO WATCH”

Here’s the table of stats. As I said in earlier articles I was concerned that the table of stats had become a little cluttered and hard to read so I’ve replaced it with a simplified version. The headings are self explanatory. The fixt ease column shows the easiness ranking of the next 6 and 3 fixtures. Use this link to see the full fixture ease article. Also if you want to see the midfielders the top 10 FPL managers I follow have in their team click here .Prices are as of Wednesday.  The table of stats has 23 players but the narrative concentrates on the top 10 midfielders only.  You can also view the full table of stats for all 23 players with lots of additional columns of stats as a google spreadsheet with the link below.

Here’s the link to the google internet spreadsheet for the full stats tables with alot more info:

Here’s some narrative on the top 10 players.  Not feasible to do all 23 unfortunately

FIRMINO

The Liverpool FPL midfielder is playing as a striker or false 9 if you want to use the term.  Blanked against Southampton missing a gilt edged chance but still had lots of opportunities to score.  He had returned a goal or assist in his last 3 matches prior to that.  Very good underlying shooting and creating chances stats.  Good fixtures with Sunderland at home next

Next 6 fixtures:

Sunderland (H)
Bournemouth (A)
West Ham (H)
Middlesbrough (A)
Everton (A)
Stoke (H)

COUTINHO

It’s my view that for GW13 you should have at least 1 of the 2 Liverpool midfielders here.  Coutinho may not play as a forward like Firmino.  He’s the more creative player with set piece responsibility although he is excellent at getting into advanced areas.  Also has great underlying shooting and creating chances stats.  Like Firmino returned in his last 3 before the blank at Southampton.

Sunderland (H)
Bournemouth (A)
West Ham (H)
Middlesbrough (A)
Everton (A)
Stoke (H)

HAZARD

The Chelsea LAM is now the top FPL point scoring midfielder even after blanking in GW12 against Middlesboro.  That was preceded by returning in 4 consecutive games though.  Very good  underlying stats.  Especially those for recent matches.  There is a reasonable point split between home and away although on such a small data set it’s hard to know if it will be a continuous pattern.  One of the few midfielders to have penalty duties.  The next game on the face of it is difficult.  However with Alderweireld injured and no LB Vertonghen could be forced to move left leaving a very unfamiliar CB partnership.  That may make it less daunting

Spurs (H)
Man City (A)
West Brom (H)
Sunderland (A)
Crystal Palace (A)
Bournemouth (H)

MANE

The Liverpool AM stretches opposition defences through his speed and is therefore vital to Liverpool for that function.  He’s a little more inconsistent but does have the ability to score big.  He’s returned in 5/11 games which is slightly less than Firmino and Coutinho but of those 5 games 3 have seen double digit FPL point hauls.  His underlying stats are reasonably good but not at Firmino and Coutinho level.  Don’t get me wrong he’s a strong FPL asset.  Most midfielders compared to Coutinho and Firmino would have deficiencies.

Sunderland (H)
Bournemouth (A)
West Ham (H)
Middlesbrough (A)
Everton (A)
Stoke (H)

DE BRUYNE

The Man City midfielder is the chief creator and set piece taker for the side.  He has great underlying creating chances stats but not so great shooting stats.  Thats shown up in his 2 goals and 9 assists in the season to date.  However that has seen him return in a very consistent manner.  He’s returned an assist in each of his last 3 games and overall in 8/11 games which is the best of any midfielder.  Next fixture is away at Burnley.  At home they seem the mirror image of the shambles at WBA and Southampton but how real that is over the long term will be interesting.

Burnley (A)
Chelsea (H)
Leicester (A)
Watford (H)
Arsenal (H)
Hull (A)

SANCHEZ

Like Firmino the Arsenal LAM is playing as a striker.  However he does have Giroud pushing him for the starting place all the way.  Blanked in his last 2 games albeit against Man Utd and Spurs.  Didn’t help himself against United by continually dropping deep either.  Does have reasonably good shooting stats although they have fallen off in recent matches.  Very good fixture next though but he does demand a healthy bank balance

Bournemouth (H)
West Ham (A)
Stoke (H)
Everton (A)
Man City (A)
West Brom (H)

WALCOTT

Doesn’t have the points per match stat that Sanchez has but betters him in consistency of returns and underlying shooting stats.  He’s also far more bank balance friendly.  Does play wide while Sanchez plays centrally but when Sanchez drops Walcott tends to occupy that central space.  The main problem has been some injury talk although he did come on in the UCL last night.  However baby delivery drama with his wife is the thing to monitor as he could possibly be excused playing duty on the weekend depending on timing

Bournemouth (H)
West Ham (A)
Stoke (H)
Everton (A)
Man City (A)
West Brom (H)

SIGURDSSON

The Swansea CAM is everything you want in a midfielder.  A CAM, sometimes false 9, with set piece duties and penalties now it seems.  Also in a team that made 8 changes at the weekend he’s an oasis of selection consistency and 90 minute appearances.  The only negative is that he plays for Swansea who aren’t a consistently winning side.  However even given that he’s displayed some pretty good consistency stats returning in 50% of his games.  Playing for Swansea means that picking his time is crucial and this now maybe it.  Apart from Spurs in GW14 it’s a pretty good run of fixtures to come.  Underlying stats are mixed but that’s always been the case

Crystal Palace (H)
Spurs (A)
Sunderland (H)
West Brom (A)
Middlesbrough (A)
West Ham (H)

OZIL

Like Mane for Liverpool not the favoured choice for Arsenal at the moment.  Similar to De Bruyne he’s a set piece and assist based player and has very little shooting stats.  However unlike De Bruyne it’s only 2 assists this year and even the creating chances stats have fallen away somewhat from previous years high levels.  However he is the CAM with set pievce duties and he does have 3 good fixtures next.  What is more noticeable though this season is his desire to get into the box and shooting positions and that could see an upturn in fortunes.  Certainly Wenger has given him encouragement to do this in the press.  A cheaper alternative to Sanchez if you’re concerned about the Walcott situation

Bournemouth (H)
West Ham (A)
Stoke (H)
Everton (A)
Man City (A)
West Brom (H)

STANISLAS

He may look a strange choice in the top 10 best midfielder transfers, especially with Arsenal next and the ongoing fixtures but here are a few facts.  Only Hazard has a better FPL points per match record so far this season.  No player in his price range has better consistency returns stats.  Only Hazard and Pedro in mids have better last 4 games FPL points.  No midfielder has better shots on target per minute stats.  I’ve put some minimum time criteria into those stats but they are facts.

He also has set piece responsibility and maybe pen duties although these could be with Callum Wilson.

Arsenal (A)
Liverpool (H)
Burnley (A)
Leicester (H)
Southampton (H)
Chelsea (A)
