Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s our fantasy premier league “ones to watch” for the best midfielders in FPL for gameweek 14.  This is the only “ones to watch” article I’m doing for GW14.  The idea is to help you pick your replacement for Di Maria.  As usual there’s a table of stats plus some narrative on the players prospects as well as the upcoming 6 fixtures

As I said above there’s a table where I’ve ranked the players but there’s a load of stats to help you make your own decision.  There’s also a key below the table to explain the stats and then some narrative on the player plus the next 6 fixtures.

Hazard

2 goals in 4 games isn’t that great form and he comes into this game on the back of a blank against Sunderland.  Unfortunately Chelsea are playing on Wednesday so there’s no chance to check out the team sheet.  You have to think that the full team is playing for the game against Spurs.  Has got good underlying stats and creating chances now as well as shooting.  Good fixtures as well.

Hull (H)
Stoke (A)
West Ham (H)
Southampton (A)

Sanchez

2 consecutive blanks have taken the shine off the previous run of 6 goals and 1 assist in 4 games.  The return of Giroud has probably diluted his striking role somewhat but the fluidity of Arsenal’s movement should still allow his attacking chances.  The WBA game though saw a reduction in the pen box touches and the shots in the box that you would normally look for.  A monitir for sure but lets not forget this is a world class player.  Fixtures are mixed with Southampton as a home game next

West Ham (A)

Siggy

An assist and 2 bonus points keeps his points ticking over as he continues with an excellent run of fixtures. The CAM fulcrum of the attack and the player who dominates set pieces plus an excellent relationship with Bony has  been the reason for this.  He’s certainly belied his lack of underlying stats

QPR (H)
West Ham (A)
Spurs (H)
Hull (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Liverpool (A)

YYT

Talk about coming in from the cold.  Only Sanchez has more FPL points in the last 4 games than YYT.  I wont insult you by talking about lack of very good underlying stats as last year he scored 20 goals with none.  Although I should add his shooting stats aren’t that bad.  Good fixtures to come as well gives him the perfect mixture of form and fixtures

Sunderland (A)
Everton (H)
Leicester (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
West Brom (A)
Burnley (H)

Chadli

Now fit although didn’t play against Everton.  Before his injury he had scored in 2 consecutive games and is the midfield player with the best underlying shooting stats over the course of the season.  With 2 strikers doesn’t have such an advanced role and it’s that which is the possible limitation on his position.  Good fixtures after the Chelsea game

Chelsea (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Swansea (A)
Burnley (H)
Leicester (A)
Man Utd (H)

Oscar

Has been in good form but a little inconsistent in his returns although early sub appearances didn’t help that.  1 assist in his last 3 isn’t exactly on fire and it was a quiet game against Sunderland from him but that wasn’t just him.  However does seem to have a regular spot in the team now although Chelsea playing on Wednesday means we wont be able to check the team sheet for possible rotation.  However as I said for Hazard it’s hard to see him not starting against Spurs.  Does have reasonable shooting stats and the CAM position in the team.  A couple of tricky fixtures but mostly ok

Spurs (H)
Newcastle (A)
Hull (H)
Stoke (A)
West Ham (H)
Southampton (A)

Fabregas

The highest consistency rate of any midfielder.  Unfortunately in those returns is only 1 goal which limits his attraction.  Plays from the deeper 2 of 4-2-3-1 and that prevents him getting shots in the box which is the limitation on his scoring.  He’s become the mirror image of the inconsistent but explosive Hazard.

Spurs (H)
Newcastle (A)
Hull (H)
Stoke (A)
West Ham (H)
Southampton (A)

Sterling

Has the lowest points in the last 4 games and only YYT has lower FPL points per minute.  So the ranking is really the function of good fixtures and faith in his early season form.  It’s now 5 games with only an assist as his return and a wide position which has limited chances compared to earlier in the season and last year when he played at the tip of a midfield diamond.  Underlying stats in the last 4 games have dropped off significantly.

Leicester (A)
Sunderland (H)
Man Utd (A)
Arsenal (H)
Burnley (A)
Swansea (H)

Eriksen

2 goals in his last 2 games followed 3 games of blanks.  The low ranking is really due to inconsistent form in the earlier part of the season.  Again falls into a good category of form and fixtures although probably get the Chelsea game out first

Chelsea (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Swansea (A)
Burnley (H)
Leicester (A)
Man Utd (H)

Downing

2 games without a return follows the 13 point haul at Stoke.  Good next 4 fixtures and a CAM positioning has put him at the heart of the new goalscoring West Ham team.  His underlying shooting and creating chances stats over the last 4 gameweeks have been excellent which gives some pointers to him being a good hold.

West Brom (A)
Swansea (H)
Sunderland (A)
Leicester (H)
Chelsea (A)
Arsenal (H)
