fantasy premier league best midfielders GW12 – “ones to watch”

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s our fantasy premier league best midfielders GW12 article where we outline the best midfielders.  There’s a table of stats with a key underneath which gives enough information to help you make a choice over which midfielder you may want to transfer in.    It’s important though to read the narrative with the next 6 fixtures coming up as this is where I highlight there prospects and cautionary factors.

10+ point %:  The % of games 10 FPL points or more are scored

Fixt ease:  The ease of attacking fixtures coming up.  Next 6/next 3

Undlyg stats rank:  I’ve ranked the players according to their underlying shooting and creating chances stats

Leaders in key stats

Minutes per FPL point

  1. Mahrez
  2. Deulofeu
  3. De Bruyne

Fixtures

  1. Deulofeu
  2. Wijnaldum
  3. Mane

Consistency

  1. Mahrez
  2. Payet
  3. De Bruyne

Underlying stats

  1. Sanchez
  2. Coutinho
  3. Mane

Last 4 games points

  1.  Ozil
  2. Wijnaldum
  3. Sanchez

So all players are in 2 tables except Payet and Coutinho

Sanchez

The Arsenal attacking midfielder has not returned in the last 2 but always capable of a big points haul and has the best underlying shooting stats of any midfielder.  3 very good fixtures sandwiched between 3 tricky ones but fixtures seem to mean very little to Arsenal

Spurs (H)
West Brom (A)
Norwich (A)
Sunderland (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Man City (H)

Mahrez

There’s no amount of superlatives that you can give to the Leicester midfielder and just when people started to doubt he gets a 2 goal 15 point haul against one of the clean sheet leaders in WBA.  Superb underlying stats and the only 1 of the above to have shooting and creating chances stats in the top 15.  It’s just the fixtures are looking a little mixed after the next 2

Watford (H)
Newcastle (A)
Man Utd (H)
Swansea (A)
Chelsea (H)
Everton (A)

Ozil

The Arsenal CAM is the man of the moment with an incredible 1 goal and 7 assists in his last 5 games.  Playing in that position in an Arsenal team on fire he’s in a great position to keep returning.  Only shadow is that although he’s top of the assist table stats he has little in the way of shooting stats

Spurs (H)
West Brom (A)
Norwich (A)
Sunderland (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Man City (H)

Mane

The Southampton attacking midfielder is playing in an advanced midfield position with excellent shooting stats and the shower that is Sunderland next makes him a good prospect

Sunderland (A)
Stoke (H)
Man City (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Spurs (H)

Deulofeu

The Everton RW caught the eye with a 2 assist and goal 13 point haul against Sunderland when he was lucky to play against Van Aanholt an LB with little interest in defending.  Has actually returned a goal or assist in 3 of his 4 starts (the consistency stats include sub appearances).  Has real pace and great fixtures ahead.  No underlying stats though is the watchout as well as the depth of Everton midfielders in the squad which means he’s not immune from gametime risk.

West Ham (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Norwich (A)
Leicester (H)

De Bruyne

The Man City midfielder didn’t start against Sevilla in the Champions League which is a good sign for rest and playing time for GW12. Has been playing on the flanks though rather in the centre even after Silva is injured and this seems likely to stay with Silva on the way back.  Underlying stats though are a little disappointing.  No shooting stats was perhaps accepted given his assist based record but even the creating chances stats are some way off say Ozil.  Despite this has been very consistent.  Fixtures are a little mixed

Aston Villa (A)
Liverpool (H)
Southampton (H)
Stoke (A)
Swansea (H)
Arsenal (A)

Payet

The West Ham midfielder has been very consistent returner and only Ozil has better creating chances stats.  Fixtures are on the turn though which is the risk

Everton (H)
Spurs (A)
West Brom (H)
Man Utd (A)
Stoke (H)
Swansea (A)

Coutinho

The Liverpool attacking midfielder has had great shooting stats during the season without returning but that finally happened with a 2 goal FPL 14 point haul against Chelsea.  Fixtures are a bit mixed

Crystal Palace (H)
Man City (A)
Swansea (H)
Newcastle (A)
West Brom (H)
Watford (A)

Wijnaldum

There’s no doubt of the quality of the Dutch International Newcastle midfielder even though his stats are largely based on the 4 goal haul against Norwich.  No underlying stats so it’s a gamble on good fixtures and that the quality will shine through again

Bournemouth (A)
Leicester (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)
Spurs (A)
Aston Villa (H)
