Here’s the table of stats with a key underneath if you haven’t seen it before.  The ranking after looking at the stats in detail has seen some interesting chances from my imaginary wildcard article

Sanchez

Only 1 returning game in his last 4 (although that did bring 19 points) is the only shadow over some fantastic stats.  The best return per minutes, the highest % 10+ point scores and one of the best for consistency.  He also has incredibly high ownership and as you will see from the 10 FPL managers who own him that includes the top players as well as the general ownership.  He’s also lethal at home and his next game is home to Aston Villa.  If you don’t own him and don’t intend buying him then you are some sort of mad thrill seeker in my book.  Hopefully will be rested against Brighton this weekend in the Cup to erase and rotation worries for the 2 home games especially.  Fantastic underlying shooting and creating chances stats.

Next 6 fixtures:

Aston Villa (H)
Spurs (A)
Leicester (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Everton (H)
QPR (A)

Oscar

Oscar is an interesting one.  Stats wise he totally deserves his place.  Better returns per minute than Hazard, slightly more consistent and in better form.  He may not have the overall creating chances and shooting stats than Hazard but he does have better shooting stats.  In fact over the season only Sanchez has better shooting stats.  He also has excellent central positioning and is cheaper.  However the one big disadvantage is gametime.  He is more prone to rotation than Hazard.  In fact he’s only played 90 minutes 6 times in his 18 appearances.  He also has been rested over the festive period.  He’s esepcially at risk in the bigger games which is why he may not play against Man City next.  What has tended to happen is that Fabregas is pushed up to a CAM and Mikel partners Matic for more defensive solidity as Fabregas has had some mishaps defensively against the better teams.  Also has far lower ownership than Hazard accross the board so is a big ranking risk if you sacrifice Hazard.  Was rested against Liverpool in the Capital One.

Man City (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Everton (H)
Burnley (H)
Leicester (A)
West Ham (A)

Hazard

Feels like I’ve talked about him enough in the Oscar caption.  Potentially big scorer and captain option every home game with big ownership across the leading pack and the general playing population.  Growing in consistency from last season and a dangerous player not to own.  Also has pens

Man City (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Everton (H)
Burnley (H)
Leicester (A)
West Ham (A)

Di Maria

This is all about fixtures and potential.  Potential through ok underlying stats and some big scores early on.  We haven’t seen this translated into recent returns and he has been shunted around position wise in a team that has been misfiring attacking wise.  However all things being equal, a player of his quality playing striker against a run of lower placed opposition has to have appeal.  Here’s LVG’s thoughts “I tried him as a striker as we needed pace in that position. We must stretch the pitch.”

Leicester (H)
West Ham (A)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)
Sunderland (H)
Newcastle (A)

Silva

1 assist in his last 3 after his purple patch recently.  Had his supply blocked out successfully by Arsenal and this could be a blue print for others as well as lead to Pellegrini going back to strikers especially when he’s added Bony to the team.  Hasn’t been as consistent this season as in the past but probably has better underlying stats so the potential is there.  Aguero back to fitness can only help.

Chelsea (A)
Hull (H)
Stoke (A)
Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (A)
Leicester (H)

Cazorla

Incredible performance against City last weekend has bought him back into focus.  Also has pens while Arteta injured and good set piece representation.  Has also finally started to show some underlying stats.  Has started slowly this season which distorted his consistency but has had 6 returning games in his last 10 which is a very high 60%.  Means you probably have to take a big step of having Sanchez and Cazorla in your team

Aston Villa (H)
Spurs (A)
Leicester (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Everton (H)
QPR (A)

Chadli

In the shadows last weekend as his midfield partner Eriksen stole the show with another late goal.  Another in the Oscar mould in has great shooting stats but doesn’t create chances.  Doesn’t play as centrally though.  Very tricky next 3 fixtures

West Brom (A)
Arsenal (H)
Liverpool (A)
West Ham (H)
QPR (A)
Swansea (H)

Tadic

Another fixture play as although his recent form has been good,  his consistency has been poor and he’s not for the faint hearted.  Does create chances but has little shooting stats.  Has also had some gametime limitations recently being rested and subbed.  Should be safe in the short term with Mane away at ACON and his importance in creating chances for the team.

Swansea (H)
QPR (A)
West Ham (H)
Liverpool (H)
West Brom (A)
Crystal Palace (H)

Fabregas

The most consistent returner in terms of the % of goals and assists of any midfielder.  However largely playing in a deep position so shooting stats and chances aren’t as good which has limited his returns. However set pieces and understanding with Costa kept him ticking over.

Man City (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Everton (H)
Burnley (H)
Leicester (A)
West Ham (A)

Sterling

After his couple of week break over the festive period he came back in fantastic form in scoring against Chelsea in the Capital One.  Has been playing as a striker and unless there’s some big name signing looks like he will continue as this.  Has great shooting stats but has suffered from what I’ve called the Welbecks in being unable to put the ball into the net.

West Ham (H)
Everton (A)
Spurs (H)
Southampton (A)
Man City (H)
Burnley (H)
