fantasy premier league best midfielders – GW24 “ones to watch”

Here’s the table of stats with a key underneath if you haven’t seen it before.    I’ve removed Sanchez as he’s injured for GW24 and doubtful for GW25.  I also haven’t included Fabregas due to injury concerns

Silva

Hasn’t really been that consistent this season despite playing centrally behind the striker and recent form of a goal and an assist in his last 4 isn’t all that flash either.  What we do have is great fixtures and a player who will probably still play centrally in an advanced midfield role at least until Bony returns.  Some great fixtures are  a big attraction though and the return of Aguero also gives him a more consistent finisher of chances created

Hull (H)
Stoke (A)
Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (A)
Leicester (H)
Burnley (A)

Oscar

Does have a few gametime issues especially in more difficult games when Fabregas is played further forward as the CAM instead of Oscar to allow 2 proper CDMs.  However has a real ability to  get into the box and his CAM position has seen him only behind Sanchez in underlying shooting stats.  A blank in GW27 but could have a DGW in GW28 if Leicester are beaten by Villa in the FA Cup 5th round.  In fantastic form even despite his blank against City.

Aston Villa (A)
Everton (H)
Burnley (H)
– Gameweek 27 –
West Ham (A)
Southampton (H)

Hazard

Stats are just a little behind Oscar and does come from a slightly wider position. More secure in gametime though and also has pens.  More rounded underlying stats as shoots and creates chances.  High ownership among the leading FPL managers and all other managers plus the ability to score big makes him a dangerous player not to own

Aston Villa (A)
Everton (H)
Burnley (H)

West Ham (A)
Southampton (H)

Cazorla

Started the season slowly but recent form has been nothing but sensational.  Also has that central attacking position that allows creativity and goal chances.  Also has some excellent fixtures and is probably a natural replacement for Sanchez if you’re thinking of selling.  Little in the way of underlying stats but does have pens.

Spurs (A)
Leicester (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Everton (H)
QPR (A)
West Ham (H)

Di Maria

Kept the scoreboard ticking over with an assist against United but in the form, fixture and consistency equation it’s strong on fixtures and not much else.  Underlying stats aren’t too bad and does have set pieces but this is all about faith in the quality that is undoubtedly there and some great fixtures

West Ham (A)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)
Sunderland (H)
Newcastle (A)
Spurs (H)

Eriksen

The highest in % of 10+ point returns but among the lowest in consistency says it all about Eriksen.  Has no underlying stats but has set pieces and the ability to get into the box at the right times.  Also one of the few players to be able to really threaten from outside the box.  Blank in GW27 but DGW28

Arsenal (H)
Liverpool (A)
West Ham (H)
– Gameweek 27 –
GW28 Swansea (H)
GW28 QPR (A)
Man Utd (A)

Sterling

After a goal against West Ham and then a goal against Bolton in the Cup it would be ironic if he suddenly found his shooting boots when Sturridge returned and Sterling has to now move away from the striker position.  However will still play in an advanced position it’s just how wide he will be.  Over the season he still has good underlying stats.  On form and consistency he looks good, the fixtures not so much.

Everton (A)
Spurs (H)
Southampton (A)
Man City (H)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)

Walcott

Dont look at the current stats they don’t give a true picture due to sub appearances to date.  Just remember that this is a guy in the last 3 years who’s returns per minute are 11.9 and 11.8.  Thats better than anyone on the table and his goal against Villa and advanced position shows what he can do.  He  also has his best friend and the master of the through ball Ozil back in the team and these 2 will be lethal.  A gamble as there are so many more popular options but if you’re prepared to through caution to the wind to catch up you could do worse.  Not enough data to assess underlying stats as yet.

Spurs (A)
Leicester (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Everton (H)
QPR (A)
West Ham (H)

Chadli

Not currently starting due to time off with his father passing away.  Also fixtures could be better but this is a player with one of the best sets of shooting stats and can be explosive in an advanced attacking position on his day.  Blank in GW27 but DGW28

Arsenal (H)
Liverpool (A)
West Ham (H)
– Gameweek 27 –
GW28 Swansea (H)
GW28 QPR (A)
Man Utd (A)

Tadic

No consistency and 2 games without returns after showing some form with 2 goals in 2 games.  Creates chances but little in the way of shooting stats and with Pelle misfiring it’s no surprise that he isn’t returning.

QPR (A)
West Ham (H)
Liverpool (H)
West Brom (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Chelsea (A)
