Fantasy premier league best strikers over £6.0m – gameweek 5

With the midfield full of high ownership players the striker is becoming a point of differentiation.  Apart from Costa and Rooney only Welbeck has double figure ownership in the chart below.  Last week I gambled on Pelle as my point of differentiation and that luckily worked out well.

Costa

A hat trick in his latest outing against Swansea making it 7 goals and 4 games with him returning in all 4 games.  Its no fluke either as he has the best underlying shooting and creating chances stats of any striker.  The games get difficult though starting with City away but with the ownership and form at the moment he’s impossible not to own.  Mourinho saying he can only play 1 game per week may lead to some rotation though

Man City (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Arsenal (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Man Utd (A)
QPR (H)

Rooney

A goal and an assist against QPR would have been a nightmare for those who sold him the week before.  The bench role of Falcao in that game still means he’s likely to be moved back in to say a number 10 position although the poor form of RVP does raise the previously unthinkable question that RVP may even be sacrificed.  For the moment the form and the high ownership means he is a dangerous player to sell until the roles are properly established

Leicester (A)
West Ham (H)
Everton (H)
West Brom (A)
Chelsea (H)
Man City (A)

Aguero

After the frustration of Stoke he was back on the score sheet against Arsenal reinforcing that the opposition are irreleavnt.  He can score against anyone.  Expensive but a real differential at the moment if you’re willing to invest the cash.

Chelsea (H)
Hull (A)
Aston Villa (A)
Spurs (H)
West Ham (A)
Man Utd (H)

Pelle

2 goals and an assist against the hapless Newcastle team continued a great start to the season.  Again no fluke as his underlying shooting and creating chance stats have been excellent.  He also has great fixtures coming up and is owned by a very low percentage of people.  A great recipe for a differential

Swansea (A)
QPR (H)
Spurs (A)
Sunderland (H)
Stoke (H)
Hull (A)

Adebayor

1 goal and 2 assists in his first 4 games and a 50% return rate it’s been a good start to the season for Adebayor.  He’s also got excellent underlying stats for creating chances and shooting.  Fixtures are a little mixed but if you’re ever going to own him then home to WBA is the time to do so

West Brom (H)
Arsenal (A)
Southampton (H)
Man City (A)
Newcastle (H)
Aston Villa (A)

Balotelli

Despite Rodgers trying to build him up it’s still no goals in 2 games and the Villa game was disappointing from him.  He does have the ability to score though having done it for Man City.  The fixtures are also good so if you’re going to invest this is a good week to with West Ham away next.  GW7 when they play WBA at home is even better.  At the moment though it’s a fixture gamble.

West Ham (A)
Everton (H)
West Brom (H)
QPR (A)
Hull (H)
Newcastle (A)

Welbeck

Has had the chances to score in both the City prem league game and the Champions league game against Dortmund but just added to the reputation of someone with a serious conversion problem. Aston Villa next is a potentially ok fixture but Spurs and Chelsea next isn’t the best which does give you a window to see if things will improve

Aston Villa (A)
Spurs (H)
Chelsea (A)
Hull (H)
Sunderland (A)
Burnley (H)

Bony

Got his first return with an assist coming on as a sub against Chelsea.  That was down to African Nations travelling rather than a loss of his starting place though and I expect him to return this week.  He’s played well and there’s nothing wrong with his shooting stats and to a lesser extent his creating chances stats.  Whether you want him instead of or as well as Siggy is another question though

Southampton (H)
Sunderland (A)
Newcastle (H)
Stoke (A)
Leicester (H)
Everton (A)

Lukaku

Scored against his former club in WBA at the weekend.  His first goal to add to his already gained assist.  Good fixture next home to Palace but then 2 away games to Liverpool and Man Ubited which are trickier

Crystal Palace (H)
Liverpool (A)
Man Utd (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Burnley (A)
Swansea (H)

Falcao

Started as a sub in his first game but that was due to the  travelling from Miami after the Colombia game rather than a general lack of fitness.  In that case there’s a good chance he will start away to Leicester and he will have to play as the most advanced forward.  Great pedigree and scoring record with A Madrid was exceptional.

Leicester (A)
West Ham (H)
Everton (H)
West Brom (A)
Chelsea (H)
Man City (A)
