bandwagons and sinking ships, Fantasy Premier League

Here’s our fantasy premier league best transfers GW7 article where we analyse the GW7 bandwagons and sinking ships. These are the most transferred in and out players so far in the gameweek. There’s no selection on my part it’s a function of what FPL managers are doing. There’s a table of stats, some narrative on their prospects and the next 6 fixtures they face.  Some of the stats are new as we now only look at 16/17 stats

THE BANDWAGONS

Key:

Pts Per Match: FPL Points per match
Consistency %: the % of games that a player gets a goal or assist
Fixt ease 6/3 games: The ease of the next 6 and 3 fixtures (6/3) coming up. The lower the better fixtures
Last 6 points: the points from the last 6 FPL games
ICT PM: The ICT scores per match. These are taken from the FPL website and are there to represent the players underlying stats. I is influence, C creativity and T threat. The underlying stats that will reprsent the possibiltiy of a goal or assist
Anytime Goal Scorer Odds: The anytime goalscoring odds for the next match from 1 bookie. Its £’s return for £1 invested

AGUERO

The Man City forward returned after a 2 game PL suspension with 2 goals against Swansea.  That makes it 5 goals in his first 4 games.  Fantastic underlying shooting stats back this up.  Also has pens.  A great captain option who is essential in my mind

Next 6 PL fixtures:

Spurs (A)
Everton (H)
Southampton (H)
West Brom (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
Crystal Palace (A)

SANCHEZ

The Arsenal midfielder playing as a central striker has 4 goals and 3 assists so far in his first 3 games.  The underlying stats show this is no fluke.  Classified as a midfielder but playing as a striker.  Arsenal have 4 great fixtures coming up too.

Burnley (A)
Swansea (H)
Middlesbrough (H)
Sunderland (A)
Spurs (H)
Man Utd (A)

LALLANA

The Liverpool midfielders goal and 2 assists in the drubbing of Hull make it 3 goals and 3 assists for the season so far.  It’s some turnaround for the player who is one of the deeper midfielders in the Liverpool lineup.  I have to say that despite his impressive ICT scores on the FPL site I’m not convinced that they are as compelling as say Coutinho’s underlying stats despite what it says.  Great fixtures but opposition seems to mean nothing to Liverpool in their free scoring mode at the moment anyway.

Swansea (A)
Man Utd (H)
West Brom (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Watford (H)
Southampton (A)

COUTINHO

The Liverpool attacking midfielder also bagged a goal and 2 assists against Hull making it 3 goals and 3 assists for the season so far.  Shoots from anywhere but getting a surprising number of shots off in the box at the moment.  Great underlying stats and a good share of set pieces.

Swansea (A)
Man Utd (H)
West Brom (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Watford (H)
Southampton (A)

RASHFORD

The Man Utd forwards poachers goal against Leicester makes it 2 goals in his only 2 starts this season.  He’s got a total of 3 though, getting another in 1 of his 2 sub appearances.  The Martial injury and the lack of pace in the Man U team gives him a real place in the side.  Still starts off rather wide though for a striker but great value for a Man Utd forward.  Fixtures are a bit mixed though but the next one is very tempting

Stoke (H)
Liverpool (A)
Chelsea (A)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)
Arsenal (H)

THE SINKING SHIPS

These are the 5 most transferred out players so far this gameweek

DE BRUYNE

Totally injury related as the Man City playmaking midfielder is out with a hamstring injury until GW9.  Has been in great form.  Could make it easier for Nolito to fit into the side although they do play different positions

Next 6 premier league fixtures

Spurs (A)
Everton (H)
Southampton (H)
West Brom (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
Crystal Palace (A)

IBRAHIMOVIC

Interesting to see the Man Utd striker who is the player that is the most transferred out (at least not one related to an injury) probably has the best anytime goalscorer odds of any player in the league for the GW7 fixture and will be a popular captain option.  However with Aguero and Sanchez in such top form a blank in a 4 goal win is going to get you transfers out.  However it’s worth reiterating that he’s got 4 goals and 1 assist so far in the first 6 games.  He’s returned a goal or assist in those first 6 games. He also has pens and time off to rest from everything else except the premier league.  Looking at it like that it’s a transfer out which defies logic.  These stats are no fluke either.  His underlying stats are excellent as well.  However it’s difficult to have Sanchez, Aguero and Ibrahimovic and FPL managers are choosing the first 2 in spades.  However only the weekend’s game will tell if the 145k managers so far having done it are right.

Stoke (H)
Liverpool (A)
Chelsea (A)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)
Arsenal (H)

HAZARD

The Chelsea LAM may not have the form that Ibrahimovic has. He has blanked in his last 3.  He may have ok underlying stats but not anywhere near as good as Ibra.  He may also be playing a little wider than you’d like someone to be for the price.  However what he does have is a good fixture.  Away to Hull and he also has pens.

Hull (A)
Leicester (H)
Man Utd (H)
Southampton (A)
Everton (H)
Middlesbrough (A)

NEGREDO

It doesn’t matter who you are.  If you blank in 4 consecutive games you are going to get sold en masse.  Negredo was always defying the underlying shooting stats and playing in a pretty defensive orientated team.  It seemed only a matter of time before it caught up with him

West Ham (A)
Watford (H)
Arsenal (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Man City (A)
Chelsea (H)

IHEANACHO

You’d think that scoring 2 goals and 3 assists in 160 minutes of football would guarantee you a place in the starting side.  However when Aguero is the man you have to shunt out there’s no chance.  You’re waiting for injury and rotation.  Thats the real bad side to this for FPL managers.  If you can cruise past Man Utd without Aguero then you can do so against one of the lower placed teams quite easily.  That maybe a nasty consequence we face as the games start coming thick and fast

Spurs (A)
Everton (H)
Southampton (H)
West Brom (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
