fantasy premier league budget forwards – GW3 “ones to watch”

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

With the increasing popularity of 3-5-2 I thought I would come up with a budget striker “ones to watch” article for those thinking of it.  The idea being that the cheap striker either plays as a reserve for injuries or is rotated home and away with a budget midfielder.  I’ve given a simialr table of stats that goes with the strikers to assist you in making a decision.

Berahino

I’ve gone for Berahino due too his 2 goals and pen duties to date.  He also had fairly solid stats last year.  On the negatives he will play in the attacking 3 players behind the striker rather than and out and out striker.  Also WBA have tricky fixtures and WBA are still bringing in players which may create some gametime risk.  The position of new signing Sebastian Blanco in particular may cause some issues.  Rotate with a Villa midfielder say Richardson or NZogbia

Everton (H)
Spurs (A)
Burnley (H)
Liverpool (A)
Man Utd (H)

Jelavic

Got off the mark at home to Stoke and now the main forward at Hull.  Has some reasonable fixtures on the horizon although a little mixed.  Expensive for a rotation or reserve.

Aston Villa (A)
West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)
Man City (H)
Crystal Palace (H)
Arsenal (A)

Fletcher

Is the lone striker in the 4-1-4-1 system with Wickham shunted out to the wing.  Has had little sucess so far having drawn 2 blanks and been quiet in both games.  This is about 2 good home games and 3 good away games in the next 6 and is something of a fixture and positional punt rather than based on any form.  Little Newcastle midfielder rotation options as all too expensive.

QPR (A)
Spurs (H)
Burnley (A)
Swansea (H)
Stoke (H)
Southampton (A)

Naismith

This is the player really in form with 2 goals in 2 games.  He also has the highest ownership %.  With Barkley injured he will play centrally behind Lukaku and has really staked his claim for the position.  The negative is that the fixtures aren’t the best thats for sure.

Chelsea (H)
West Brom (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Liverpool (A)
Man Utd (A)
Aston Villa (H)

Ings

The Burnley striker has yet to return in the first 2 games and at £6.0m is on the edge of the price for any rotation or bench sitting. He has impressed though with a number of chances and looks like he has the potential to turn things around.  Fixtures are mixed but have some reasonable games in that.  26 goals and 8 assists in the Championship last season for Burnley

Man Utd (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Sunderland (H)
West Brom (A)
Leicester (A)
West Ham (H)

Ulloa

I’ve gone for Ulloa rather than Nugent as he appears to have adjusted far better to the premier league than Nugent.  He’s scored compared to Nugents 2 blanks and has had far more chances.  Not great fixtures unfortunately though.  Roate with a Southampton midfielder such as JWP.

Arsenal (H)
Stoke (A)
Man Utd (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Burnley (H)
Newcastle (A)

Agbonlahor

Playing as the main striker in the absence of Benteke.  Apart from this weekend the fixtures couldn’t be tougher.  No returns to date either. It’s a positional and value play nothing more.  Rotate with WBA midfielder Dorrans or Brunt

Hull (H)
Liverpool (A)
Arsenal (H)
Chelsea (A)
Man City (H)
Everton (A)

Bojan

2nd to Naismith in ownership of the cheapie strikers.  Was left out for tactical reasons against Hull so hard to see him starting away to City.  Also a fitness doubt which won’t help.  Did well against Villa without returning but quiet against Hull.  That was undersandable due to the nature of the game as Hull sat deep with 10 men.  Had a great pre-season but that can only last so long if gametime and form are questionable.  Good fixtures after Man City so he will have every chance to produce.  Rotate with Dyer or Routledge of Swansea.

Man City (A)
Leicester (H)
QPR (A)
Newcastle (H)
Sunderland (A)
Swansea (H)
