First it’s important to remember that each player is ranked as a transfer target for this week. So while we generally look at fixtures form and underlying stats a player who’s away to Man City is going to be ranked lower than someone home to Huddersfield for example. If possible a transfer should have a good fixture first up.

Firstly there’s a table of stats. Then there’s a bit of brief commentary on each player.

This is the 3rd player rankings article. I’ve also written a defenders and GKs player rankings article as well as a premium midfielders player rankings article

Ramsey

The box to box Arsenal midfielder has started the season with a goal and 2 assists in his 6 starts.  Does play in the CMs of 3-4-2-1 but able to get into the box and is a goal threat particularly on the counter.  Has consistently disappointed with his finishing,  falling behind or just about equal to his xG in the last couple of seasons.  However he is good value for a player in the Arsenal team with good fixtures over the next few games.

Watford (A)
Everton (A)
Swansea (H)
Man City (A)
Spurs (H)
Burnley (A)

Choupo Moting

The Stoke LAM or Striker has only 2 goals and an assist for his 6 starts to date but he has posted some good underlying stats and is playing in those advanced positions.  After City next he has a good run of fixtures

Man City (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Watford (A)
Leicester (H)
Brighton (A)
Crystal Palace (A)

Richarlison

The Watford LAM has probably been the budget star of the season with 3 goals and 2 assists from his 6 starts.  He’s also posted some pretty good underlying stats and is playing in a very advanced position.  Unfortunately  the next couple of fixtures are tricky before they improve again

Arsenal (H)
Chelsea (A)
Stoke (H)
Everton (A)
West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)

Fabregas

The injury to Kane opens up the possibility of Fabregas coming into the team at least until Kante is back although Kante’s hamstring injury hasn’t been given a time frame as yet.  He does have Drinkwater as a possible rival for his place although he has some short term injuries and alternatively David Luiz could also partner Bakayoko in the CM position.  However Fabregas has already started 5 of the opening 7 games although you may want to classify them as being due, in part, to Bakayoko acclimatising to the premier league.  He’s only got the 1 goal and his underlying stats are ok at best but if you’re willing to take a punt then the next 3 fixtures are excellent.

Crystal Palace (A)
Watford (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Man Utd (H)
West Brom (A)
Liverpool (A)

Tadic

Great fixtures and good underlying stats and penalty duties (at least if Austin doesn’t play) plus some set piece responsibility you wonder why he isn’t essential.  It’s just he can’t seem to deliver. So far this season it’s just the 1 goal in his 6 starts and that was a pen he scored where he did everything he could to miss.  It surely must happen soon it’s just that his record in delivering his underlying stats is a bit mixed to say the least.

Newcastle (H)
West Brom (H)
Brighton (A)
Burnley (H)
Liverpool (A)
Everton (H)

Arnautovic

I’m an Arnautovic fan.  I think he plays very advanced and makes good runs into the box.  He’s started his West Ham career in terrible form and has yet to return in his 2 starts and 2 sub appearances. Some good fixtures coming up though

Burnley (A)
Brighton (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)
Watford (A)
Leicester (H)

Brady

2 assists in 7 starts is a pretty ordinary return and in a fairly defensive minded team you’re not going to get much from.  Does have set piece responsibility which does give him a bit more than the rest but his underlying stats are pretty ordinary.  Some reasonable home fixtures

West Ham (H)
Man City (A)
Newcastle (H)
Southampton (A)
Swansea (H)
Arsenal (H)

Ritchie

4 assists this season is a good start for the Newcastle RAM and he’s posted good underlying stats.  However the possibility of Shelvey diluting those set pieces looks a realistic possibility after the Liverpool game.  Reasonably good fixtures though

Southampton (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Burnley (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Man Utd (A)
Watford (H)

Gross

The Brighton CAM has returned 2 goals and 2 assists in his start to his premier league career.  His underlying stats are pretty ordinary and Brighton are a very defensive team are the negatives.  You’re gambling on his set piece delivery and his advanced CAM virtual support striker positioning.  Fixtures are ok.

Everton (H)
West Ham (A)
Southampton (H)
Swansea (A)
Stoke (H)
Man Utd (A)

Albrighton

The Leicester LM is in for some good fixtures coming up.  Does have some set piece responsibility but just plays too wide for goal threat.  A throw of the dice at best.

West Brom (H)
Swansea (A)
Everton (H)
Stoke (A)
Man City (H)
West Ham (A)
