I’ve gone for captains from the 2 games that really matter.  Liverpool v Newcastle and Man City v West Ham.  The picks I’ve made are Suarez, Dzeko and YYT

Suarez

Will he start?

Definitely. No injury issues.  Still a very outside title chance to play for

How consistent is he generally and at home?

Overall very consistent.  Returns a goal or assist in well over 80% of his games.

At home he’s nearly perfect returning in 12/13 games.  Only game he didn’t return was home to Chelsea

How has he performed against poor sides at home?

I took the 6 worst sides away from home.  He’s played against 5 in Cardiff, Fulham, Norwich, Hull, and WBA.  His average FPL points per game were incredible at  15.8 points

Whats his recent form like?

Here’s his last 5 home games:

SWA(H)  1 assist
SUN(H)   1 assist
TOT(H)   1 goal and 1 assist
MCI(H)   1 assist
CHE(H)   Blank

Pretty ordinary in the context of his season.

Whats the opposition defence like? 

Over the season a mid table away defence.  It’s recent form thats the issue

Here’s the last 5 away games:

HUL(A) 4-1
FUL(A) 0-1
SOU(A) 0-4
STK(A) 0-1
ARS(A) 0-3

So not too bad against some of the poorer attacking sides but the Southampton and Arsenal result says alot.

Summary

Very consistent and can destroy poor teams at home.  Newcastle are in woeful defensive form with nothing to play for.  The score could be anything.  Suarez has not been the force he recently has been but he can explode at any time.  Doesn’t have pens but has the major share of direct free kicks

Dzeko

Will he start?

Fairly certain to start.  Pellegrini has recently been playing with 2 strikers irrespective of Silva playing or not and Dzeko has been in great form.  Aguero if anyone is more likely to be on the bench

How consistent is he generally and at home?

Overall he’s returned a goal or assist in 47% of his games this season.  Thats distorted though due to his sub appearances.

At home if you just count games started then he’s returned a goal or assist in 6 games and blanked in 3 games.  He’s blanked in 5 sub appearances.

How has he performed against upper middle of the table opposition?

Not really enough data due to sub appearances to do this

Whats his recent form like?

Here’s his last 5 home games:

SOU(H) 4-1 64 minutes   1 goal and 1 assist
SUN(H) 2-2 22 minutes  Blank

Pretty inconsistent but thats what you get with Dzeko.

Whats the opposition defence like?

Over the season a good away defence.  7 clean sheets.  Only bettered by Southampton and Chelsea.  23 goals away in 18 games.  Only bettered by Chelsea Everton and Man Utd.

Recent form also good.  Only 5 teams have conceded less goals in the last 6 games.

With Big Sam in charge you can expect a big bus being parked.

Can be beaten by a decent score by good teams.  Arsenal scored 3 as did Man Utd.  Liverpool scored 4

Summary?

In excellent form but not that consistent.  Opposition will park the bus and are good defensively although can struggle against top opposition.  No penalty, set piece or free kick duties

Will he start?

With City going for the title he will undoubtedly start

How consistent is he generally and at home?

The most consistent returning midfielder with 65% of games returning a goal or an assist.  Incredible at home returning in 13 of 15 home games.  Only didn’t return against Liverpool and Chelsea at home.

How has he performed against similar upper middfle of the table opposition?

Teams with similar overall away rankings are Spurs, Swansea and Villa.  He’s averaged 8 points per game in those games

CHE(H) 0-1 blank
STK(H) 1-0 1 goal
FUL(H) 5-0 3 goals
SOU(H) 4-1  1 goal
AVL(H) 4-0  1 goal 1 assist

Pretty impressive

A very consistent performer.  Brilliant at home and in great form.  Will have pens when Aguero is off the field which will possiblybe for part of the game.  Opposition are good defensively and will park the bus but have struggled against better opposition
