fantasy premier league captain choice GW13
Here’s the fixtures for a bit of context
A mixed set of fixtures. Normally you would go for Chelsea v Norwich but thats a difficult one at the moment
Bookies odds
Here’s the anytime goalscoring odds for those at £2.20 or below for £1 invested. I’ve included Aguero and Bony even though at this stage there’s doubt over who will start
£1.95 – Vardy, Aguero, Kane
£2.05 – Costa
£2.10 – Lukaku, Wickham
£2.20 – Pelle, Bony
FPL advice sites polls
site 1 | site 2 | site 3 | site 4 | |
Lukaku | 33% | 37% | 39% | 53% |
Vardy | 16% | 10% | 7% | 12% |
Kane | 9% | 13% | 11% | 22% |
Sanchez | 6% | 8% | 1% | 1% |
Site 1 is the main FPL advice site btw. Clear winner then
The top FPL managers I follow
Just the two managers this week. 1 is going for Vardy the other Lukaku. Vardy was before the injury update
Basic stats of the top 3
Lukaku Everton fwd £8.6m home to Villa
12 games 7 goals 4 assists. FPL point every 14.1 mins. Consistency return rate (return in a game of a goal or assist) 6 returns from 12 games ie 50%. Reasonable shooting and creating chances stats considering tricky fixtures to date
Lukaku home games to date:
WAT(H) 2-2 90 minutes 0 Goals 1 Assists 0 Bonus 5 points
MCI(H) 0-2 90 minutes 0 Goals 0 Assists 0 Bonus 2 Points
CHE(H) 3-1 90 minutes 0 Goals 0 Assists 0 Bonus 2 Points
LIV(H) 1-1 90 minutes 1 Goals 0 Assists 2 Bonus 7 Points
MUN(H) 0-3 90 minutes 0 Goals 0 Assists 0 Bonus 1 Point
SUN(H) 6-2 77 minutes 1 Goals 2 Assists 2 Bonus 14 Points
So not particularly consistent but not the easiest of options
Aston Villa defence: 12 games 20 goals conceded 2 clean sheets. Underlying defensive stats aren’t as bad as expected considering the goals conceded.
Villa Last 4 away games (most recent at the bottom)
LEI(A) 2-3
LIV(A) 2-3
CHE(A) 0-2
TOT(A) 1-3
So terrible record. Remi Garde though appears less of an idealist that Sherwood appeared to be
Summary: Not a great record but against tricky opposition. Good underlying stats and playing a defence with a bad record albeit with a new manager
Vardy Leicester fwd £7.4m away to Newcastle
12 games 12 goals 1 assist. FPL point every 12.5 mins. Consistency return rate 11 returns from 12 games ie 92% Great shooting and creating underlying stats. Injured and a questionable starter
Vardys home games:
WHU(A) 2-1 90 minutes 0 goal 0 assist 0 bonus 1 point
BOU(A) 1-1 90 minutes 1 goal 0 assist 2 bonus 8 points
STK(A) 2-2 90 minutes 1 goal 0 assist 0 bonus 6 points
NOR(A) 2-1 90 minutes 1 goal 0 assist 3 bonus 9 points
SOU(A) 2-2 90 minutes 2 goal 0 assist 3 bonus 13 points
WBA(A) 3-2 90 minutes 1 goal 0 assists 1 bonus 7 points
So a return in every home game. Only 2 of his 11 bonus points have been at home though which isn’t ideal
Newcastle defence: 12 games 22 goals conceded 3 clean sheets. Underlying defensive stats aren’t good
Newcastle Last 4 away games (most recent at the bottom)
WAT(H) 1-2
CHE(H) 2-2
NOR(H) 6-2
STK(H) 0-0
So not a great record 6 goals conceded in 4 games
Summary: What can you say about Vardy. Against a pretty poor defence. Injury and not playing is the main negative
Kane Spurs fwd £9.4m home to West Ham
12 games 6 goals 0 assists. FPL point every 19.2 mins. Consistency return rate 4 returns from 12 games ie 33%. Very good underlying shooting stats. Great recent form 5 goals in the last 3 including a hat trick
Kanes home games:
STK(H) 2-2 63 minutes 0 goals 0 assists 2 points
EVE(H) 0-0 90 minutes 0 goals 0 assists 2 points
CRY(H) 1-0 90 minutes 0 goals 0 assists 2 points
MCI(H) 4-1 90 minutes 1 goal 0 assists 7 points
LIV(H) 0-0 90 minutes 0 goals 0 assists 2 points
AVL(H) 3-1 90 minutes 1 goal 0 assists 8 points
Kane is all about recent form and good underlying stats
West Ham: 12 games 16 goals conceded 3 clean sheets. Pretty much a lower mid table defensive team. I ranked them 15th overall defence.
West Hams last 4 away games:
MCI(A) 2-1
SUN(A) 2-2
CRY(A) 3-1
WAT(A) 0-2
So the fantastic start defensively away has now finished
Summary: Kane is all about recent form and good underlying stats. The West Ham defence isn’t the spectacular one in the first few games of the season.
The FFGeek choice:
Well I moved away from ususally picking the favourite last week and paid the price. So today it’s back to normal picking Lukaku.
Good luck who ever you choose.
