FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE CAPTAIN CHOICE GW16

Here’s our fantasy premier league captain choice GW16 article where we look at various ways of assessing the best captain pick for the gameweek. It’s very brief this week.  We look at the fixtures, the bookies odds, the FFGeek poll, any of the top 10 FPL managers we can find and the FFGeek choice. Sorry about the brevity, time is against me.

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE CAPTAIN CHOICE GW16

THE FIXTURES

THE BOOKIES ODDS

Here we look at one of the bookies anytime goal scoring odds. I’ve tried to only put players in who have some gametime security. It’s the return for £1 invested. Odds are as of Tuesday afternoon and remember they assume the player starts and don’t count assist potential.

£1.65 – Kane

£1.70 – Costa and Iheanacho

£1.85 – De Bruyne

£1.91 – Hazard, Son HM

£2.00 – Sanchez

£2.05 –Alli and Ibrahimovic

£2.25 –Carroll

£2.30 – Pedro, Rondon

THE FPL ADVICE POLLS.

Firstly here’s the FFGeek poll:

So Kane over Costa by a good margin

There’s a distinct lack of captain polls this week so I’ll just summarise that the FFGeek poll is a pretty good representation of the others that exist

TOP 10 FPL MANAGERS

Of the 1 manager showing his team he’s going for Kane

THE FFGEEK CHOICE

I normally go with the polls. So Kane it is.

Although Kane seems the stand out option – there is no dembele this week and we all know what that does to his scoring record. Eriksen could be a brilliant differential captain this week – surprised he hasn’t got more votes. Payet another one sure to do well this week.. some interesting stats about them on http://fandueltips.co.uk/the-form-guide-gw16-tips

I went for Iheanacho, short term option but should get a lot more points than the alternatives in that price bracket.

57 minutes in GW15, left out in GW16, no returns, not feeling warm and fuzzy about Iheanacho, especially with the way Nolito has been playing. Would love to think Iheanacho is going to start….

Another poor week for me. Seem to have one great week then 2 bad ones. Down to 284k.

Kane did nothing, Costa did nothing, Hazard didn’t play, Nacho didn’t play, Firminho did nothing, Allen did nothing. Grant and my defense saved me somewhat and Sanchez.

Thinking Firminho to Siggy before weekend, then hope for the rest of my team. Will give me funds to do Allen>Zaha next week. (Are Zaha’s stats decent or is it a flash in the pan? after Chelsea and Arsenal his fixtures improve significantly)

    Thoughts? Other player considerations?

    • Stephen T

I like Zaha going forward, tough fixture vs Chelsea this week and another against Arsenal but then very favorable schedule through GW27. I feel he is a better budget option than Allen, Capoue and Fer right now. Benteke has been the difference maker for Palace, which has helped Zaha. Returns in 6 of his last 8 and his goal last weekend was spectacular! I was looking at moving for Zaha this weekend, but may wait because of the tough Chelsea match.

Maybe wear ham players- great long and short term fixtures and think their gonna turn it around with Carol in team

    • Stephen T

I think if West Ham can turn things around, they have some good fixtures through January with only Man City and Chelsea as tough games through April. Carroll can be a big difference maker if he can stay healthy and feed off Payet’s magic.

  • Danilo

What do you think about Gabriel Paulista as a defender because Mustafi is injured, and Gabriel is only 4.8£? He played last 4 games, so I hope he will continue to play.

    • Simon Garner

I think there are better defensive options. Arsenal aren’t keeping clean sheets at the moment. that may change as they have some excellent fixtures ahead. I’d chose out of Southampton/Spurs/Chelsea for your defenders if you can afford them.

    My current line up
    Lloris(Pickford)
    Koscielny, Cedric, Alonso (Amat, Lenihan)
    Walcott, Payet, Hazard, Sigurdson, Phillips
    Kane(C), Costa (Anichebe)

1 FT & 1.3m in the bank… Whats the ideal transfer for this week??
And also I’m planning to transfer out koscielny. Who is the best replacement for him??
Also what about transferring Baines/Valencia for koscielny…

    • james

I wouldnt transfer baines this week as they are playing LIverpool in the derby and are likely to concede goals plus an added risk of yellow/red cards for defenders in this game.. Valencia seems to be a good attacking fullback option and United have some decent fixtures that lye ahead.. ive just brought in phil jones who is pretty cheap!!

      • FantasyFootballMad

Agree Jones is a great pick, even the busy xmas schedule should be ok for United as their games aren’t as close together as some (Southampton have 3 games in 5 days!!). This week is all about Payet and West Ham for me. Bought him in for Firmino.

Some interesting picks here too http://fandueltips.co.uk/fanduel-top-tips-gw17

Looking to get some feedback on my current team.

    GK: Pickford, (Grant)
DEF: Jones, Azpili, Bertrand, (Lowton) (Amat)
MID: Sanchez, Pogba, Lallana, Siggurdson, (Fletcher)
    FWD: Costa, Kane, Carroll

0.4m in bank , wildcard active.

Cant decide whether to stick with Ibra or go for Kane, swaying towards Kane at the moment but Ibra looks to be coming into form as does Pogba and United have good fixtures. But then again thinking it may be a risk to go without any Spurs cover.

What would you go for out of these three options:
    Ibra + Pogba
    Pogba + Kane
    Eriksen + Ibra

    Thanks in advance.

    • Stephen T

Tough call. I had Ibra to start the season, fed off a great start, but dropped him after GW6. I did buy Kane more recently and have decided to run with him for a few more weeks. Looking longer term, Man U has better fixtures and Dembele’s foot injury could play into the success that Kane has.
