Aguero (WBA H)

Will he start?

He should do given the opposition and the fact that they have nothing to play for apart from the league.

Whats his consistency like overall and at home?

Overall:  Excellent.  Returned a goal or assist in 15/23 games which is an excellent 65%.

At home: Not as good.  He’s got 7 goals and 2 assists in 10 games but 4 were against Spurs.   He’s only returned a goal or assist in 5/10 games which is 50%

How has he performed against lower good defensive opposition at home?

Not great:  I’ve put WBA as a comparison to the best defensive teams.  Against Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal where he’s got 2 goals in those 4 games and returned in 2/4 games.

Whats his recent home form like?

Nothing special

ARS(H) 0-2   90 minutes 0 goals 0 assists 1 point
HUL(H) 1-1   90 minutes  0 goals 1  assist 5 points
NEW(H) 5-0 59  minutes  1 goals 1 assist  9 points
LEI(H) 2-0    84 minutes   0 goals 0 assists 2 points

Whats the opposition defence like away?

Since Pulis took over it’s 6 clean sheets in 9 games.  Only big team they’ve played though is Spurs where they lost 3-0 at home

Here’s their last 4 away games:

EVE(A) 0-0
BUR(A) 2-2
SUN(A) 0-0
AVL(A) 1-2

So pretty good although the opposition was on the whole some of the most ordinary attacking teams.

Summary

Been excellent over the season but recent form not so great, his home form is also questionable as is his form when City play 2 strikers.  Whats more he is up against a strong defensive team although 1 that hasn’t been tested with Pulis against the top attacking sides away from home.  To add to the difficulty a hard game against Barca midweek chasing the ball and missing a pen can’t have helped him.   Aguero has pens though

Kane (Leicester H)

Will he start?

Yes out of Europe so no midweek game

Whats his consistency like overall and at home?

Overall:  Excellent 13/21 (62%)

At home:  Not as good having returned in 5/11 games at home (45%) although the goal/assist total is very good at 6 goals and 3 assists so when he has scored he’s scored big

How has he performed against lower placed opposition at home?

Not so good.  Blanks against Stoke, Palace, Sunderland and Swansea but 1 goal each in games  against Burnley, and West Ham

Whats his recent home form like?

Mixed 2 incredible performances.  2 blanks

SUN(H) 2-1 90 minutes 0 goals 0 assists 2 points
ARS(H) 2-1 90 minutes  2 goals 0 assists 12 points
WHU(H) 2-2 90 minutes  1 goal 0 assists 4 points
SWA(H) 3-2 75 minutes 0 goals 0 assists 2  points

Again seems good away and good at home against the better opposition

Whats the opposition defence like away?

Over the whole season terrible:  Only Newcastle, QPR and Burnley have conceded more goals away.  2 clean sheets away only 3 teams have less.  No team has conceded 2 goals or more on more occaisions away than Leicester.  However a new back 5 system seems to have helped them and saw a clean sheet against Hull.

Against the big teams away Man Utd 1-3, Chelsea 0-2, Liverpool 2-2, Arsenal 1-2, Man City 0-2

Here’s the last 4 away games:

MUN(A) 1-3
ARS(A) 1-2
EVE(A) 2-2
MCI(A) 0-2

So new system or not it’s still at least 2 games conceded against all the teams above although the fixtures couldn’t have been be worse

Summary

There’s no doubting he’s been a star this season but away from home and against the better teams at home has been his strength and he hasn’t performed against the lower placed sides at home.  However although Leicester have performed well recently and there are some signs that the 5 man defence has helped them it’s hard to see them as anything other than a poor defensive side.  It just depends whether you believe that is enough to over rule what appears to be an issue for him although the data set would hardly satisfy any mathematician

The Bookies choice

Here’s the bookies choice for anytime goalscorer with a maximum of £2.20

£1.76 – Aguero

£1.90 – Kane

£2.08 – Giroud

£2.16 – Bony, Dzeko and Jovetic

£2.20 – Pelle

Giroud certainly is an option  if you want to move away from the 2 favourites

Other FPL advice sites

The main site was pretty evenly split between Kane and Aguero.  This site has a good correlation with what the leading and active managers will do if you’re looking at it from the defensive point of view

Of the other sites I looked at 3.  2 had Kane in their team as Captain 1 had Aguero.  The one that had  captain poll had Kane at the lead.

The top 10 FPL managers I follow

1 had Kane and the other Utkarsh @Zophar 666 had Aguero.

The FFGeek choice

I’m going to go with Kane, neither him or Aguero are perfect choices but the Leicester defence and City chasing Barca around midweek made it for me.

Thats it.  Good luck for the gameweek
