fantasy premier league captain gameweek 17 – a brief look at the options

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s our GW17 fantasy premier league captain choice with a brief look at the options.  Perhaps one of the more difficult weeks I can remember.  We’ll talk through the options and then see who the bookies back

fantasy premier league captain gameweek 17 – a brief look at the options

Lets look at the good fixtures first

Man City v Palace

Aston Villa v  Man Utd

Spurs v Burnley

West Ham v Leicester

So lets look at the following players.  YYT, RVP, Eriksen and Kane, Sakho and Carroll

YYT

Having been suspended from the Champions League it seems he’s unlikely to need significant rest.  He will have penalties with Aguero injured as well as a share of direct free kicks.  His deep starting position is a concern as well as his underlying stats but they were both irrelevant in his 20 goals last year.  Form he definitely has with 3 goals and an assist in his last 6 games and 3 double figure FPL point hauls in his last 5 games.  He’s also scored in his last 2 home games.  Has definitely not been consistent over the year though.

Only 4 teams have conceded more goals away than Palace although the last 3 away games have been quite successful with a clean sheet at Spurs, and only 1 goal conceded at Swansea and Man Utd

RVP

Another player in great form with 4 goals and 2 assists in his last 4 games.  Underlying stats are ok but its been deadly finishing that has rewarded him.  Also will have pens.  Has not been consistent over the season though so you’re relying on pedigree and current form rather than a continuation of the season

Aston Villas defence has been better away and only 6 teams have conceded more at home.  They have not performed well against the big teams at home.  Arsenal scored 3, Spurs and City 2

Eriksen and Kane

Eriksen has 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 5.  However only 2 of his 6 goals have been at home.  He doesn’t really have any underlying stats but relies on his set pieces and his ability to arrive into the box at the right time.  Kane’s form isn’t as strong though with 3 goals and 1 assist in 8 games since he came into the side.  Also very little in the way of underlying stats.

Only 4 teams have conceded more goals than Burnley away.  They’ve conceded 6 goals in the last 3 away including 3 at Arsenal.

Sakho and Carroll

Sakho should start although Valencia has been preferred in the past.  It’s only 1 goal in 3 although it has followed 5 consecutive games of goals.  His shooting stats are excellent.  2 goals in his last 3 games have brought him to FPL managers attention.  Good underlying shooting stats too.

Only 2 teams have conceded more goals away than Leicester.  Their last 4 games away they’ve conceded 2 goals including 3 at QPR.
