The ten top FPL managers

Of the 2 I know both are going for Aguero

Some basic stats

Aguero (Spurs H)

Aguero overall:   Mins per FPL point 12.5. Consistency 9/18 returns 60%. In his last 6 games 50 points and returns in 5/6 games.

Last 4 home (most recent at the bottom):

SOU(H) 3-1 63 mins 2 points
EVE(H) 0-0 90 mins 2 points
CRY(H) 4-0 84 mins 16 points
LEI(H) 1-3 90 mins 6 points

The Spurs defence

Spurs defence away from home 12 games 10 goals conceded 3 clean sheets. So in goals conceded they’re 1st away from home but in clean sheets about 11th.  Only once have they conceded more than 1 goal away from home and only 3 times all season.  In all 3 of those games they conceded 2.  Underlying defensive stats are good though.

However Vertonghen is injured which may affect their stability as new CB Wimmer is new to the league.  It will also be interesting to see who the FBs are as the less experienced Trippier and Davies have started recent games although neither are new to the PL.  To be fair to them though neither of the 2 more experienced players in Walker and Rose are known for the defensive stability

last 6 games away for the defence most recent at the bottom:

WBA(A) 1-1
SOU(A) 2-0
WAT(A) 2-1
EVE(A) 1-1
CRY(A) 3-1
NOR(A) 3-0

Lukaku (WBA H)

Lukaku overall Mins per FPL point 14.2 Consistency 14/25 returns 56%. In his last 6 games 21 points and returns in 2/6 games.

Here’s the last 4 home games with the most recent at the bottom:

STK(H) 3-4 90 minutes 13 points
TOT(H) 1-1 90 minutes 5 points
SWA(H) 1-2 90 minutes 2 points
NEW(H) 3-0 45 minutes 1 point (went off injured)

The WBA defence

The WBA defence away from home 12 games 14 goals conceded 4 clean sheets. So in goals conceded they’re 7th away from home and 6th equal in clean sheets

With McAuley injured and Dawson and Evans both doubts that represents a significant drop in their defensive resolve.

Last 6 games away for the WBA defence:

WHU(A) 1-1
LIV(A) 2-2
SWA(A) 0-1
CHE(A) 2-2
SOU(A) 0-3
NEW(A) 0-1

Summary

So it’s form over fixtures if there ever was a choice.  With Aguero you’ve got recent form, quality and great underlying stats but against a pretty tight defence albeit with 1 significant absentee.  With Lukaku you’ve got a pretty  good fixture and slightly wavering form although over the season he’s been pretty consistent.  He faces a defence that could be significantly weakened and has been inconsistent at best.

The FFgeek choice

It’s Aguero for me.

Good luck whoever you choose
