Here’s my fantasy premier league captain tips gameweek 27
Firstly here’s the options in my mind:
RVP (QPR A)
Back to his best with a goal and assist in his game against Everton despite a relatively low involvement in the game. He’s returned in 19/23 games he’s started an incredible 83% consistency better than anyone in the league. Here’s his record away against captain qualifying teams
South 15 points
New 4 points
Aston V 5 points
Norwich 2 points
Reading 6 points
Swansea 4 points
Wigan 16 points
Fulham A 5 points
Consistent and has returned in every game except 1 in 8. Only 2 big scores though. Overall he’s returned in 19/22 times he’s started and incredibly only not against Southampton in his last 12. I would be surprised if he doesn’t play tonight against Reading in the FA Cup so it seems unlikely that he wont play against QPR and if anything will be rested against easier home games to come.
The QPR defence I’ve rated lowly on stats in my article on the best defences (link at the bottom of article) however they have kept 3 clean sheets in a row in the last 3 games by playing very deep and very defensive. The Swansea game was a bit of an aberration as before that away they had only conceded 5 goals in their last 5 away games . So it may not be that straightforward for Utd but I expect them to come out at a fast pace looking for an early goal and if they get this then it may be a very different game
Walcott (Villa H)
Returned in 12/15 games he’s started for an impressive 80% consistency. 2nd only to RVP in this way. See link to my article at the bottom of the page “looking for Mr consistency”
Here’s the captain qualifying home games
Sun H 3 points
Fulham H 8 points
Tottenham home 12 points
Swansea Home 2 points
Newcastle Home 26 points
West Ham 11 points
Stoke H 6 pointd
That’s 5/7 but all of the 4/5 are big returns. Returns in all but the Man City game in his last 9.
Only played a cameo in the Blackburn FA Cup game on the weekend but will play on Tuesday against Bayern which is at home. Should still play against Villa though now they are out of the FA Cup as I cant see Wenger taking chances with the top 4 place.
The Villa away defence is an absolute nightmare, the worst for underlying stats in the league. 19 goals conceded in their last 5 away games and in Joe Bennett he has an opponent who is one of the worst LBs I’ve seen in the league Coupled with a manager who thinks the best form of defence is to have both FBs practically at the opposing penalty area there should be loads of space for Walcott to gain either a goal or an assist. If Arsenal score early anything can happen as well.
Bale (West Ham A)
You cant ignore the man in form at the moment. Lets start with his away games against captain qualifying teams
Newcastle 2 points
Reading 11 points
Southampton 10 points
Fulham 2 points
Villa 21 points
Sunderland 1 point
QPR 6 points
Norwich 8 points
WBA 11 points
That’s returns in 6 of 9 games with 4 of those 6 being double digit returns. It’s also an incredible 4 goals and 34 points in his last 3. There’s also no doubt he will play. Has a lower overall consistency rate than the other 2 though at only 55% but can really pull big scores out of the hat.
I’ve rated the West Ham defence the 10th best home defence in the league and while they can produce tight performances they aren’t immune to the better teams scoring relatively heavily. They’ve lost 3-2 to Liverpool and 3-1 to Arsenal. They also have plenty of issues with the defence and the best news of all is that such is the state of their injuries that Demel may even end up marking him which is definitely good news
Summary
I’m going for the 2 consistent players as my preferred choices although its very close:
1. Walcott
2. RVP
3. Bale
That’s it for my fantasy premier league captain tips gameweek 27. Good luck whoever you go with.
