Here’s my fantasy premier league captain tips gameweek 36
fantasy premier league captain tips gameweek 36
This week I’m looking at 3 games to get my captain from
1. Man Utd v Norwich
2. Palace v Man City
3. Arsenal v Newcastle
From those games I’ve come with the following options:
Rooney, Aguero and Ramsey. With Arsenal there are a number of alternatives such as Podolski, Ozil and Giroud. I’ll cover those off with the betting odds. I will also cover Suarez as the most consistent performer in fantasy premier league.
Rooney (Norwich home)
Will he start?
I guess anythings possible with a new manager. However it’s hard not to see him starting. The problem is though whether he will start up top or behind Welbeck or Hernandez. He’s much more dangerous up top.
How consistent is he generally and at home?
Overall he has returned a goal or assist in 61% of his games. That’s the 3rd best for forwards. He’s returned in 7/14 games at home this season which is less than he is away. Thats consistent with the team though who are far better away
How is he against poor opposition at home?
Surprisingly, he’s actually very good. Although the conistency was earlier in the team
Villa – 2 goals
Fulham – blank
Cardiff – blank
West Ham – 2 assists
Stoke – 1 goal and 1 assist
WBA – 1 goal
Palace – 1 goal
Whats his recent home form like?
Mixed but difficult fixtures
CAR(H) 2-0 28 mins – blank
FUL(H) 2-2 – blank
LIV(H) 0-3 – blank
MCI(H) 0-3 – blank
AVL(H) 4-1 – 2 goals
Whats the opposition defence like?
Only Fulham are worse away from home. 40 goals in 17 games.
Here’s there last 5 away games:
WHU(A) 0-2
AVL(A) 1-4
SOU(A) 2-4
SWA(A) 0-3
FUL(A) 0-1
Pretty poor to say the least
Is he an option?
Question over his position but has been better at home than some people think. Also has pens plus share of set pieces and the opposition couldn’t be any better. Only questions are whether he will play up top and the poor United home form.
Aguero (Palace away)
will he start?
Impossible to think he won’t. Question will be how many minutes he gets
How consistent is he generally and away?
Overall 2nd in consistency only to Suarez. At home he’s returned in 6/9 which is less than away but still impressive
Whats his recent form like away?
SUN(A) 0-1 90 blank
WBA(A) 3-2 68 1 goal
SOU(A) 1-1 90 1 goal
TOT(A) 5-1 44 1 goal
LIV(A) 2-3 23 blank
Can’t really complain about that
what’s the opposition defence like
Excellent. 4 clean sheets in the last 5 games. Some of the top 4 challenging sides sides have beaten them like Arsenal and Man Utd have conceded goals against them. There’s also the fact that they are safe from relegation which may make them relax more than ususal. It’s hard to see that with Pulis in charge though.
Is he an option?
He is a top quality striker. 75% consistency with a number of sub appearances is amazing. He also has pens. Reduced minutes are not ideal
Ramsey (Newcastle home)
Will he start?
Hard to see he wont start
How consistent is he generally and at home?
He’s reasonable consistent returning in 57% of his games. At home it’s 50% so not that much different.
Whats his recent home form like?
SOU(H) 2-0 90 Blank
HUL(H) 2-0 79 1 assist
EVE(H) 1-1 67 Blank
CHE(H) 0-0 90 Blank
WHU(H) 3-1 19 1 assist
Surprisingly poor. He did return against Stoke at home and Norwich at home but not Villa which does show a little more faith in home games against lower opposition. Not that convincing though
Whats the opposition defence like away from home?
Overall it’s not too bad. A sort of middle of the table effort conceding 26 goals in 17 games.
Lets look at their recent away form.
CHE(A) 0-3
HUL(A) 4-1
FUL(A) 0-1
SOU(A) 0-4
STK(A) 0-1
They were certainly very poor against Chelsea although they are getting closer to their first choice defence now.
is he an option?
He has had his moments against poorer teams at home but not consistently. Newcastle have been poor recently and it wouldn’t be surprising if there’s isn’t a decent score against them. In that you would fancy Ramsey to return. Does have risk.
Suarez (Chelsea home)
No need for a long winded version here. Suarez has returned a goal or assist in 87% of his games this season. That says alot. I’m going to take a look at how he’s dome against the top sides at home
Everton 1 goal and 1 assist
Arsenal 1 assist
Man City1 assist
So 100% consistency but quite low returns. Especially when you consider that 12 goals were scored.
Chelsea are the number 1 defensive team. However injuries to Cech and Terry are big blows. Add to that the possibilty that Azpilicueta or Ivanovic could be rested for Cole is he really does put out a weakened team and you have a diminsihed defensive force. Still Mourinho is certainly no mug defensively.
So it is a tricky one. Will lots of goals be scored or will Mourinho learn the lessons that others didn’t. If loads of goals are scored will Suarez get a big haul or follow the pattern of the last 2 games.
I think his consistency speaks for itself but it’s certainly not without risk
William Hill Check
Here’s the odds for everyone under £2.00 to score as an anytime goal scorer:
£1.50 – Rooney
£1.73 – Giroud Aguero
£1.91- Hernandez (Javier) Suarez Dzeko
Ramsey is £2.75
I’ve not considered Giroud as I find him too inconsistent. Hernandez and Dzeko are gametime risks. By the way Podolski is £2.25 and Ozil £2.75
I’ve yet to decide who I will put as captain but it will be between Suarez and Rooney. I’ll decide tomorrow
