Fantasy premier league – catch up Questions and Answers 8/11/2013 part 2

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s the 2nd and final part of my fantasy premier league questions and answers on 8/11/2013

Q1

How is Boruc and Clyne a buy? Do you really think the saints will do well against Arsenal (A) Chelsea (A) Aston Villa (H) Man City (H)? Lol, I doubt. Saints are a “sell” at this moment.

A1

hi thanks for the comments.  I don’t think they could be a sell before a home game to Hull, that would be a very risky strategy.  I agree that the 3 games you mention are difficult and are unlikely to be clean sheets but so was Liverpool A supposed to be.   I think Villa H is certainly a clean sheet possibility and at the moment I think any side outside those 3 are clean sheets possibilities given the form shown.  Given the minimal carrying costs and the rising prices I think they are still worth buying.  Cheers

i have used my wildcard this week as I have decided to take a risk and revamp the team investing heavily in the strike force. I have read your comments about Lallana (who i got in a couple of weeks ago to take advantage of rising value). If i were to transfer him out for Januzaj 5.1m (or another cheapie) where could i reinvest the extra money of 1.3m? my team is as follows:
boruc
tomkins zabaleta clyne (subs: turner, baker)
ozil ramsay silva lallana (sub: morrison)
aguero suarez rooney
no funds available
i can still use my wildcard so can make as many adjustments as possible.

A2

I would probably strengthen your defence. I wold definitely introduce a spurs defender Walker if you want to play it safe and dawson if you want to take some gametime risk. there is also value in Everton say Distin
hope that helps
thanks and good luck for fantasy premier league GW11

Q3

Hey,
Great articles. Keep up the good work.
I was wondering if you can have a look at my fantasy team and suggest any changes. I have 2 free transfers this week with 0.2 in the bank. Given the rate at which Man City has been scoring I feel like I should have some representation up front. But your article on GW11 fixture ease schedule ranks MCI pretty low in the list for the next 6-8 weeks. So I don’t know if this is the best time to bring Aguero/Toure/Silva, etc. in or perhaps someone from WestHam/AVL. Anyways, see what you think. Any advice on transfers and starting 11 will be highly appreciated.
Boruc, McGregor
Fonte, Terry, Sakho, Ridgewell, Baines
Januzaj, Amalfitano, Ozil, Ward-Prowse
Sturridge, Lukaku, Suarez
Thanks

A3

Hi thanks for the comments, I’m not sure who your 5th midfielder is but youre quite light there. Personally would keep both Sturridge and Suarez for the Fulham game and look to insert Aguero by reducing either Terry or Baines to say Dawson or Rat. I think coverage of Aguero or maybe Silva as a cheaper version is fairly essential. Irrespective of the opposition i think city will score goals
Hope that helps

Q4

Boruc
Terry, Zabaleta, Lovren, Fonte
Whittingham, Morrison, Y.Toure
Suarez, Sturridge, Aguero
Subs : Mignolet, Baines, Barkley, Diame
Will Zabaleta get any returns in the next couple of games or should I offload Barkley first? I have no funds available. Looking to free some funds to invest in my rather cheap Midfield.

A4

Before I answer your question I think for fantasy premier league  GW11 you should play Baines and Barkley ahead of Morrison and Whittingham.  Yes I think Manchester City will get defensive returns.  here’s their fixtures:

Sunderland (A)  Tottenham (H)  Swansea (H)  West Brom (A)  Southampton (A)  Arsenal (H)

I would sell YYT maybe even for Silva although check any injury doubts.  If you wanted to sell a defender, you could even sell lovren after the Hull game as you have 3 Saints defenders which is a pretty high exposure.  I would probably sell Zab before Terry if you didnt want to sell Lovren.

Q5

My Team:
Boruc
Coleman Ivan B.Turner Dawson Moxey
Ozil Ramsey Michu Barkley Brady
Aguero Suarez Lukaku
I have to remove michu but who should i get? I was thinking hazrd for Chelsea cover but Silva seems good as well. Any suggestions??

A5

Silva is definitely my top choice.  Then Hazard.  See my fantasy premier league midfield “ones to watch” article at the bottom of this page

Q6

I have two transfers this week. I have about 1 million in the bank. I have Soldado, Suarez, and Lukaku up front. In midefield, I have Hazard, Ramsey, Morrison, Janujasz, and Michu. My ideal transfers would be Michu for Silva and Soldado for Aguero but I can’t afford that. Should I transfer Michu out for someone cheap (who?) and get Aguero? Or get Silva, keep Soldado at home to Newcastle and possibly get Benteke or Giroud next week?

A6

I would definitely get Aguero in.  Amalfitano R Morrison and Kasami are the best options.  Cabaye or Lallana if you have more cash.  Hope that helps.  See my midfield “ones to watch” article at the bottom of this page

Q7

Whats peoples thoughts on Phillippe Coutinho? I’m thinking about getting him into my team soon.

A7

Hi here’s my comments from the previous fantasy premier league Q and A

I did think about him. There’s no doubt that if you’re a believer this is the game to buy him. Personally I didnt think that, although he provided some creativity when he came on and worked with Suarez drifting left, he was a bit rusty and over hit alot of thru balls. I wasn’t sure he would start and I thought if he did he would play left rather than centrally. I just cant see him playing 3 such attacking players centrally. Add to that his poor start to the season and I didn’t think he warranted inclusion. On the positive side though he did show alot of quality last year and does have 2 excellent strikers to finish off any chances created so although its the punt now is the time to do it. cheers

Q8

Would it be worth taking a -8 point knock this week considering the following changes
out: oscar, bowery and yaya toure
In: hazard, benteke and el hamdi
my current team ive picked for the week:
Boruc (reserve:harper)
turner dawson colemen (reserve rosenerie & faye)
ozil rasmey silva yaya oscar
aguero surez (reserve bowery)
No funds available
Villa’s got 3 good fixtures ahead so im thinking bring in benteke especially considering bowery has got no chance of getting points. to free up funds i must sell either yaya or oscar for this aquisition as they are both valued at 9mill
If i bring in el hamdi from villa i bank 0.1mill which gives me the option to bring in hazard for oscar/yaya depending on who i choose to sell above.
My analysis is that hazard looks more threatening than oscar and im afraid his value will rise after this gameweek making him not an option for the future based on my funds.
I do not want to have 3 city players in my team as yes it paid off last week resulting in me getting 96 gameweek point but city is not going to win 7-0 every week and silva & aguero are most threatening
So for better long term investment would a -8 knock this week be justified or should i just be contempt with my current team and see how it pans out?

A8

Hi Unfortunately you’re speaking to the wrong person regarding 8 point hits in fantasy premier league. It would take circumstances such as a double gameweek or an injury crisis for me to take such action. While I agree having 3 City players even with their form isn’t risky, away to Sunderland is a fixture which should generate some goals for City and I personally would be loathe to sell YYT or Oscar before their upcoming fixtures. However if you feel strongly about Benteke then I would transfer out YYT rather than Oscar as 3 players is overkill even for City. Pick one of the cheapies you like in Amafitano, R Morrison, Januzaj, Kasami. I wouldn’t take a hit to go from Hazard to Oscar, the difference doesn’t warrant the risk.
