fantasy premier league clean sheet tips GW14

Fantasy Premier League

I’m continuing  our fantasy premier league clean sheet tips GW14 article.  Here we rank the clean sheet prospects for each team in GW14 by comparing each teams defence in gameweek 14 compared to the attacking rank of the opponent.  Both attack and defence ranking use a mixture of actual and underlying stats.  We also give you one of the bookies odds for clean sheets and rank them in order to give you another view.  I hope you find it interesting and useful in deciding the lineup for your team.

Firstly here’s the Fixtures:

Ok, we go through each team by the clean sheet rank I’ve given them.  We calculated that in a very basic way.  We’ve compared the rank of the teams defence vs the rank of the opponents attack.  As I said it’s a bit basic and it doesn’t differentiate between home and away or recent circumstances.  Thats why we’ve put the clean sheet odds for GW14 of one bookie as another point of reference. However this time we’ve ranked them seperately as it’s easier to read.  We’ve also given you the rank of those odds for each of the teams.  The clean sheet odds are the amount won for £1 invested.  The odds are of Thursday when I wrote the article.  Hope thats clear.  In ranking the bookies, if the odds are the same for 2 or more teams, I’ve followed my ranking.

Comment

Hope you found that useful.  Reasonable correlation between the bookies odds this week.  Generally though the bookies odds are far less favourable than alot of weeks with only 1 game of odds less than £2.00.  That being Liverpool home to Swansea

Looking at the outliers from the bookies odds where my rank and theirs is different by over 5 ranks.  There are 4

The Bookies rank Man City 2nd in clean sheet odds whereas I’ve ranked them 8th in terms of clean sheet rankings.  The Man City defence isn’t the same without Kompany and this week it maybe also without Joe Hart.  However I have some sympathy for the bookies odds as Southampton don’t have Pelle.

I’ve ranked Watford away to Villa, Everton away to Bournemouth and Southampton at Man City better than the bookies.  Im with the bookies on Southampton.  No chance their with Aguero back.  Watford and Everton I’m leaning towards my view.

Last week there were 2 differences I ranked Chelsea lower than the bookies and the bookies won that despite a late onslaught from Norwich.  However I ranked Newcastle home to Leicester lower than the bookies and comprehensively won that one.

Just a reminder as you can see from the odds that it’s very difficult to predict clean sheets and often there are only 5 or so clean sheets out of 20 teams playing so it’s not a silver bullet.  Good luck with your selections
