FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE DEFENDER TIPS GW30 – PLAYER RANKINGS DEFENDERS

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

This fantasy premier league defender tips GW30 post is a  player rankings article which I’ve completed earlier than usual due to the horrific season ending Seamus Coleman injury.  It is intended to help you set your defensive lineup or choose a defender for a transfer. We outline the best value and attacking defenders. There’s a table to help you make the choice for your transfer which includes their defensive strength ranking as well as their fixture ease rank and the bookies clean sheet odds for their GW30 fixture.

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE DEFENDER TIPS GW30 – PLAYER RANKINGS DEFENDERS

Firstly there’s alot of international football to play before GW30.  These are often real qualifiers and involve alot of  travel. I have Coleman and personally I’m waiting to Friday at the earliest to make a transfer.  Value implications or not.

GW30 FIXTURES

Here’s this weeks fixtures for reference

THE BEST VALUE AND ATTACKING DEFENDERS

So here’s the table. Effectively I’ve ranked the defences taking into account their defensive stats strength. Added to the table is the rank of easiness of the upcoming next 7 fixtures including DGW34 and the assumed GW35/36 Southampton v Arsenal postponement that are upcoming. Use this link to see the full article on fixture ease. I’ve then given you the best value defender and the best attacking defender. Values are as of Saturday.  Use this link if you’re interested in what the top 10 FPL managers I follow have as defenders

There’s a relatively new column showing which teams have risen and rank from the last week. This gives you a feel of recent form.

There’s a key below the schedule explaining the colours:

GREEN 2 DGWs in the 7 games most likely. 1 in GW35/36 and the other DGW37 is the current thought process.
ORANGE 1 DGW in GW34 confirmed
RED blank GW34
Man Utd will also have an additional DGW (probably GW37) but I’ve concentrated on them as a DGW34 target.
Only DGW34 is guaranteed at the moment. The rest is joining dots. Again, see my recent DGW article

BEST GW30 TRANSFERS

Looking at the optimum combination of strong defence at an appropriate value, good fixtures and good odds then the best transfers for this gameweek in my view are:

Man Utd – Valencia £5.8m

Southampton – Yoshida £4.3m or Cedric £4.8m

If DGWs mean nothing to you

Spurs – Vertonghen £5.5m or Walker £6.4m

COMMENTS AND CHEAPIE WATCH

Man Utd – £4.7m CB Jones is great value for Man Utd. He is a rotation risk with the Europa League still in play and Smalling , Bailly and Rojo all playing CB but doesn’t seem to be a 89th minute coming on as sub risk.  The main risk with Valencia this week is his travelling back from the international break.

Spurs – LWB Davies at £4.7m is outstanding value. Regular starter Rose is supposedly back for GW30 but he has a injury history and that has to be very doubtful.  However I’ve substituted Davies for Vertonghen as the cheap option

Man City – Stones at £4.7m is great value but a rotation risk along with the rest of the defence.  Pep has recently come out expressing his love for Stones.  I personally think that Pep often speaks with forked tongue.

Southampton – £4.0m CB Stephens is outstanding value and at the moment is keeping the more experienced Caceres out of the team. He is an unwelcome Shadow though.  Yoshida at £4.3m looks worth the extra cash

Everton – The big question is whether £4.0m Holgate comes in for the injured Coleman at RB.  I’d also like to see £4.6m Jagielka hold his place for a few games before he can be said to hold the CB spot next to Williams

Liverpool – What is the deal with £4.8m CB Lovren?  On the bench but apparently fit.  Is Klavan really above him in the pecking order?  Only a few games ago Klavan was on the bench with a very small CDM in Lucas taking his place at CB?

Middlesborough – With a new manager at the helm 1 game in only Gibson at £4.9m seems safe. He doesn’t look a value or attacking pick though. I’ve gone with Fabio at £4.3m as the value pick but that comes with risk

C Palace – Attacking LB Van Aanholt is supposedly back for GW30. Worth the extra cash.

Hull – £4.4m CB Maguire is a great attacking option but faces a challenge for his place when Davies and Dawson are back. He has survived Davies returns for 2 games as a back 3 was played in the last game. Dawson’s return seems more uncertain although in theory scheduled for GW30. Robertson is the same price but far more secure

Sunderland – £4.4m Kone is an injury doubt but my preferred pick.  £4.4m RB Jones has started the last 7 and for the most part looks like he is built from the Van Aanholt mold so an acceptable alternative.

WBA – £5.1m Brunt is the attacking option again having returned to the lineup in midfield for GW29.  Either Dawson or McAuley are good attacking options as well

Watford – £4.6m Holebas was dropped in GW29 so I’ve taken him out as the attacking option.
