A bit of background

The gameweek is still going so I’m not doing a review at the moment and will do a short one tomorrow.  This is just to tell you about the transfers.

You may recall from my GW21 team article that I had 2 free transfers to use for DGW22.

Ideally I wanted to leave the transfers to tomorrow but there seemed some price pressure going either way  so I decided to do them tonight on the basis that there was little chance of any information before tomorrow’s (January 1) deadline of 11.30 UK time.

So I did the transfers tonight and for once there wasn’t much procrastinating.

The transfers

The transfers are:

Chelsea £10.8m Mid Hazard out and Spurs £8.0m Mid Son HM in

Crystal Palace £4.6m Mid Loftus Cheek out and West Ham £6.9m Mid Arnautovic in

The only debate was whether I should take Richarlison or Loftus Cheek out as I feel Son will be on a short stay and Loftus Cheek as a 5th mid is a potential season keeper.  He was poor I thought v Arsenal and subbed early plus rested/dropped v Man City which helped.  Plus I really like Richarlison so I tried not to over think it

If you’re still debating the Spurs player to add to Harry Kane see my article on the Spurs midfield options

Captain choice

Illness or not,  it’s going to be Harry Kane.  The doubt from the illness has just meant I can’t use the triple captain chip which is a shame as the fixtures couldn’t be much better.  He will be the captain in a huge proportion of teams and any thoughts of anyone else just aren’t worth it.

The lineup issues

The lineup had a few tricky decisions

Christensen vs Kenny vs Richarlison.  I had to pick 1 of 3

I thought given Lukaku won’t be playing and Big Sam will take a 11 man penalty bus park as a brilliant tactical victory over Mourinho that I kept faith with Kenny.  Richarlison returning at Man City seemed a bit of a stretch despite good performances against top teams.  So the order was Kenny, Christensen and then Richarlison.

Rotation often means that the order is pretty irrelevant but necessary thinking
