Fantasy Premier League

Here’s the FFGeek team for the double gameweek 28.  We talk through the transfers, the team selection and the captain choice

Firstly here’s the team.  It really didn’t pan out as I planned it but I’ll talk it through below

Transfers

So I had 2 transfers and in the end I transferred out Walters for Eriksen and Gardos for Dier of Spurs.

It’s funny how things work out in FPL sometimes.  I bought in Puncheon about 5 gameweeks ago when he had 3 very good games coming up and had come off 2 goals and an assist in 2 games.  4 blanks afterwards and I was cursing my inability to get him out of my team due to other issues.  My plan was to transfer him out for Eriksen and Gardos for Danny Rose who was my preffered Spurs defender.  Well then Puncheon came up with a 14 point FPL performance in GW27 against West Ham as a CAM consisting of 3 assists and a monopoly of set pieces.  He also has QPR at home in GW30 and this made me think that there is no way I can transfer him out.  I thought about taking Clyne out and putting Alderweireld in for GW29 but the thought of Clyne playing against his old team Palace in DGW28 and not in my side didn’t sit comfortably.  I also thought about sticking to my plan and just taking a hit to get Puncheon in for GW29.

In the end I didn’t like the idea of transferring out Clyne at home to Palace or Puncheon out with QPR coming up.  I also didn’t like the idea of taking a hit to get him back in for 1 game so I compromised and put Spurs CB Dier in.  He’s played the last 3 after Fazio lost his place.  He’s probably more rotatable than Rose who’s played alot more but possibly not by much more rotatable as Rose has Davies as an understudy.  Dier is also a reasonable set piece attacking threat.  It’s certainly not perfect as I wanted Rose as he will be a big transfer in so not having him for a DGW comes with risk but it seemed the best of the imperfect options

Team selection

The defence and midfield was the real debating point.  Chelsea don’t have the perfect away defensive record but I will always play them home and away.  The same for Arsenal and no question then for Bellerin away to QPR.  Spurs Eric Dier obviously then had to play given he has 2 games.  That takes up 3 defensive positions.  In midfield Hazard, Sanchez and Eriksen were always going to start.  So then it became a choice of Clyne, Puncheon and Van Aanholt for 1 place.  In the end Southamptons home defensive record was the reason for going with Clyne.  The order of subs though was also tricky and in then end I went for Van Aanholt who are away to Hull.  Hull have had some issues scoring although it looks like Jelavic and NDoye will be fit so the PVA vs Puncheon sub order may change.

The Captain Choice

No question for me it has to be Harry Kane.  Going against someone with 2 good fixtures in the form Harry Kane is with everyone else captaining him is just asking for trouble.  There is risk of whether he plays both games but the exit from the Europa League and the loss of the Capital One Cup final means a Champions League/European place is all they have to play for.  Remember Kane sat out the first 9 gameweeks although he did play in the Europa League and the Capital One.  Aguero is my sub.

Thats it good luck to everyone
