fantasy premier league – DGW31 – The players that will hurt you the most if they score points

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s a short article to remind you of the high ownership players who will hurt your ranking (whether it will be mini league or overall)  if they score points in DGW 31.   It maybe a statement of the obvious but some of you will find it worthwhile in putting togther your transfers

This may sound obvious but the players that have the highest ownership if you don’t own them will hurt your ranking the most if they score.  Conversley if you don’t own them and choose a low ownership alternative if that player scores points and the high ownership player doesn’t then your ranking will improve.  How you play this depends on your position and how desperate you are to hold on to a lead or catch up.  Remember if youre selling the high ownership players check your selling price vs the buy back price.  That will determine whether you have any chance of buying the player back.  Also remember that some ownerships will be more real than others.  What I mean is that of the 3m fantasy premier league players a reasonable proportion no longer manage their team and have fallen away.  They will own popular GW1 assets such as Mignolet but points for these players will probably not effect your ranking as much

Here’s the players in fantasy premier league that have the highest ownership and the ones with DGW31 fixtures are highlighted:

Suarez  – 49.2%  DGW31

YYT – 43%  DGW31

Hazard – 41.4%

Coleman – 37.7%  DGW31

Lallana – 33.6%

Sturridge – 33.2%  DGW31

Here’s a few words on each that are involved in DGW31 and an alternative if you’re willing to gamble:

Suarez

Anyone who goes into the double gameweek 31 without Suarez is very brave indeed and it would be the ultimate gamble.  Not only is he the highest points per game scorer in fantasy premier league by nearly a third but he will also undoubtedly be captained by virtually everyone in  DGW31.  If you amazingly don’t have him then do what you have to to get him into your team.  If you want an alteranitive either go for his strike partner Sturridge or if you really want to roll the dice RVP/Rooney at 16% and 13% respectively are alternatives with good fixtures to the end of the season.

Yaya Toure

He’s scored 13 goals this season which is twice the amount that he has scored in any season despite not having many shooting opportunities and playing notionally as a CDM. However freekicks and pens have propelled him to the 2nd highest point scoring midfielder behind Hazard.  There are a number of reasons to own him now.  Firstly with Aguero probably injured then he will have pens.  He also was played in an advanced position at Hull and this tactic has increasingly become part of Pellegrini’s armoury.  On the 12 occasions he’s scored he’s got a 3  bonus points 5 times, 2 bonus points twice and 1 point twice.  So in 9/12 times he’s going to get a bonus added on to that goal.  Add to that 3 double gameweeks before the end of the season for Man City, a  fantastic shot outside the box and some brilliant free kicks and you have a compelling ownership argument.

This season he’s never gone more than 2 games without a goal or assist but if you want to take the gamble then Silva at 6.5% ownership is the natural alternative.  He’s crucial to Man Citys attacking creativity and a goal and assist in his last game at Hull could just be the start of getting the returns he’s been very unlucky not to get in the last weeks.

Coleman

He’s the top goal scoring defender this season with 6 goals.  To put that in context thats the same amount of goals as Oscar and Mirallas.  On 4 of those 6 occasions he’s got 3 or 2 bonus points.  Virtually guaranteed to get 8 points everytime he scores it’s going to hurt you when it does with 37% ownership.  The goal against Cardiff was the first goal in the last 7 matches but the bad news is that he’s averaging more shots in the box and chances created since then than before so there’s potentially more to come.

The good news is that the alternative of Distin (5.9%ownership) is considerably cheaper at £5.3m but he’ll only get you clean sheets as he has no attacking returns this season.

Sturridge

Surprisingly low ownership of 33% given that he has scored or assisted in 84% of games this season.  Unlikely to be a captain choice for many but is capable of big point hauls.  Also the easy fixtures for Liverpool in DGW31 make it a big call not to have him involved.

The low ownership alternatives are as for Suarez of RVP and Rooney where the ownership is 16% and 13 % respectively
