fantasy premier league DGW34 – the FFGeek team looking back and forward

Fantasy Premier League, ffgeek teams

I’ve had a few people ask me to do an article earlier in the week about possible team plans generally as well as for fantasy premier league DGW34.   So I thought I’d oblige as well as look at the last gameweek and discuss a few relevant transfer decisions in the week ahead.

So a good week and bringing in Kane paid dividends.  Helped by the fact that the other Captain favourite Lukaku lost the prospect of 2 bonus points late in the game somehow.  41% of my score came from the captain which is very high and 17 points or 29% from the defence with 2 of 4 returning.  3 of the front 7 returned a goal or assist is definitely ok.

Bringing in Kane was at a cost.  I used a transfer that could have been used for a DGW34 player and I had to exit Sanchez unless I wanted to take a -4 which I didn’t want to do.  That led to a pretty nervy watching of the Middlesboro v Arsenal game last night.  However Sanchez’s score could have been alot worse. It also cost me on DGW34 options for forwards which I’ll explain later.

It’s funny how FPL can turn.  After Watford lost 3-4 to Southampton and then Holebas was dropped in the next game at Palace I’ve been desperate to get rid of him.  However somehow things turned and they’ve got 3 clean sheets in 3 home games of the 4 played and he’s amassed 21 points.

All the players except for Siggy and the WBA players have played their part in recent weeks though

DGW34 initial thoughts

Before I start here’s the DGW34 fixtures:

I’m planning on wildcarding in DGW36 and then bench boosting in DGW37 so there’s 2 weeks of free transfers effectively.  That’s a bit short term to take a hit in my book although assuming you transfer in a DGW player you get an extra game for the hit.

What it does leave me in a position that there’s no attacking player likely to come in for DGW34.  Of the 5 non DGW34 players Siggy is home to Stoke, King is home to Middlesboro, Lukaku is at West Ham and Kane and Alli aren’t going anywhere on current form.  The Kane transfer meant that I’ve got 3 forwards I don’t want to replace.  That rules out Benteke and Negredo who are probably the best DGW34 options.

Palace, Middlesborough and Man Utd

These are the 3 teams with double gameweeks

Given the above about Negredo and Benteke there’s not much to choose from anyway.  Townsend maybe at Palace maybe who’s got form recently.  I’d either have to get rid of Siggy or take a hit with Fletcher and play the All Out Attack chip.  Neither set the heart racing.

At Middlesboro I’ve got the cash to trade in Fletcher for either of De Roon, Downing or Ramirez.  I’d then play the AOA chip.  However none of them have any form at all.  To make matters worse both Ramirez and De Roon were subbed early last night and both have been left out recently.  What they do have is fixtures.  It’s hard to imagine 2 fixtures better than Bournemouth away and Sunderland at home.  DGW’s are about rolling the dice and taking a chance.  I mean in the last DGW27 who would have thought Stoke LB Pieters would get 14 points when 1 of the games was away to Man City.

I’ve got Ibra who looks like he will be the runaway captain option.  There was alot of “tired” stuff in the papers before his benching in the Chelsea game.  Surely though that had to be tactical.  How can you be tired when you haven’t played a game in 3 weeks??  It would be nice if he missed the Anderlecht game but I can’t see it.  Otherwise in Man Utd it looks difficult to pick someone who is an attacking player that will play 2 games.  Thursdays lineup against Anderlecht will help but surely he will play his best side against Man City in the 2nd DGW34 game.  That means Burnley away maybe the sacrifice (sorry I mean squad! ) lineup.

So in the end I’ll probably go for a Middlesboro defender or Van Aanholt of Palace who’s the high risk high reward attacking defender option.  I’ve got the potential to do De Gea or Rojo/Bailly for Brunt but they are 2 tricky games to load up on defence for.

Anyway what is the week for but mulling over FPL transfers.
