IBRAHIMOVIC

The Man Utd striker only had 8 minutes or so in the win over Chelsea.  This was either due to his much talked about tiredness (after 3 weeks off?) or tactical depending on what you want to believe.  Despite 3 games in a week he is the runaway captain favourite for DGW34 so not having him either comes with alot of downside if he plays 2 games and is successful or alot of upside if he flops and captain someone else.

His form has dropped off somewhat as has his underlying stats although his underlying stats haven’t fallen off a cliff by any stretch.

However, I’m surprised people are transferring him in before the Anderlecht game on Thursday though just from an injury perspective

Fixtures to the end of the season:

Burnley (A) DGW34
Man City (A) DGW34
Swansea (H)
Arsenal (A)
Spurs (A) DGW37
Southampton (A) DGW37
Crystal Palace (H)

KANE

Could have had any amount of goals against a truly awful defensive side in Bournemouth at the weekend.  Great recent form and great underlying stats over the season and recently show that it’s no fluke either

Fixtures to the end of the season:

Leicester (A)
Arsenal (H)
West Ham (A)
Man Utd (H) DGW37
Leicester (A) DGW37
Hull (A)

ZAHA

The Palace RW and CF Benteke the popular choice for Palace for the DGW34.  However it was a disappointing performance by Zaha against Leicester where he didn’t have many chances.  Personally I’m not really that fond of players who tend to play so wide as it means you are focused on assists rather than goals which, to the extent they are finished off others, are out of the players control.  Having said that I have got him myself .  He doesn’t pass that positional test and he has little in the way of underlying stats.  What he does certainly pass is the eye test on most occasions and always looks very advanced and very threatening.

Next fixtures to the end of the season:

Liverpool (A) DGW34
Spurs (H) DGW34
Burnley (H)
Man City (A)
Hull (H)
Man Utd (A)

BENTEKE

3 goals and an assist for the Palace striker in the last 4 games have bought him back on the radar at just the right time for the DGW34.  The good news is that over those last 4 games the increase in his underlying shooting stats has been quite eye opening.  When you consider that those games were Chelsea, Arsenal, Southampton  and a near full strength Leicester then it’s even more impressive.

The issue is that the fixtures are difficult to say the least.  However so were the previous 4 and he will go to Liverpool trying to prove Klopp and alot of others wrong.

Next fixtures to the end of the season:

Liverpool (A) DGW34
Spurs (H) DGW34
Burnley (H)
Man City (A)
Hull (H)
Man Utd (A)

SON HM

It’s hard to describe how good the Spurs CF/AM is.  Again deadly finishing against Bournemouth saw his goal and if others had been so deadly he could have easily had a couple of assists.  Top of the midfield underlying shooting stats tables whether over the season or in recent games.  The current form of the last 4 games with 5 goals and an assist and 42 FPL points says it all.

I sign posted last week that Pochettinos favoured formation of 3-4-2-1 could leave Son on the bench as it has done before this season.  However the fact that Poch stuck with 4-2-3-1 to keep Son in shows how strong his current form is.  That doesn’t mean the formation will continue but it’s a good sign.

Fixtures to the end of the season:

Leicester (A)
Arsenal (H)
West Ham (A)
Man Utd (H) DGW37
Leicester (A) DGW37
Hull (A)

THE SINKING SHIPS

These are the 5 most transferred OUT players so far in the gameweek. The fixture ease is for the next 5 gameweeks to the end of the season and for the next 2 before DGW36. *Alonso’s bookies odds are for clean sheets not anytime goal scoring

COSTA

The Chelsea striker with 2 assists in his last 5 games is a prime target for a  transfer out given that 4 of the top 5 transfers in are strikers.  I don’t think his focus on his running battle with Rojo on Sunday rather than scoring helped the situation either.

His underlying shooting stats over the last 4 aren’t that bad though and some are even better than previous stats which gives hope that it will turn around.  The £1.72 anytime goal scoring odds for the GW34 Southampton fixture is captain potential odds not transfer out odds as well.  However if you want Ibra for the DGW then he is an easy target on form.

Fixtures to the end of the season:

Southampton (H)
Everton (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
West Brom (A) DGW37
Watford (H) DGW37
Sunderland (H)

SIGURDSSON

The theory of the Swansea LAM as the perfect FPL midfielder with an advanced position and all set pieces and pens is really under strain.  5 consecutive blanks and the last 4 FPL points adding up to single figures is only going to result in 1 thing.  He’s just been dragged under by the weight of the Swansea plight and Llorente going missing physically and it appears mentally too on the evidence of the Watford game.

Unfortunately he’s never really produced much in the way of underlying stats even in good times so no help there.  Stoke at home next is normally a game to hold on for and not a transfer out game.  However if you’ve blanked in the last 5 and those 5 includes Bournemouth, Middlesborough, West Ham and Watford then you maybe a little fatigued by hearing that.

Fixtures to the end of the season:

Stoke (H)
Man Utd (A)
Everton (H)
Sunderland (A)
West Brom (H)

MCAULEY

The WBA CB has long been one of the most popular defenders in the top 10k overall ranked teams mainly due to his goal scoring exploits.  McAuley is the top goal scoring defender.  However a blank gameweek next coupled by 2 recent bizarre substitutions off in the 55th and 52nd minute in GW31 and GW32 respectively can’t have helped the situation.  He’s also quite expensive if not returning goals (none in 7) and clean sheets (1 in the last 9)

Fixtures to the end of the season:

Blank GW34
Leicester (H)
Burnley (A)
Chelsea (H) DGW37
Man City (A) DGW37
Swansea (A)

ALONSO

The Chelsea LWB has the highest points per match of any defender.  Only McAuley has scored more goals than him and only 3 other defenders have more assists.  So why sell?  Well Chelsea haven’t got a clean sheet in 10 games, he’s flagged as an injury doubt and he’s also the most expensive defender in FPL.  That combination will do it. The injury flag is related to a virus he had which prevented him playing against Man Utd.  He’s expected to be fit for the home game to Southampton.  That is a good clean sheet prospect ironically.

Fixtures to the end of the season:

Southampton (H)
Everton (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
West Brom (A) DGW37
Watford (H) DGW37
Sunderland (H)

DEFOE

The Sunderland striker has blanked in 8 consecutive games since his 2 goal haul against Palace.  To be fair only 3 of them against Burnley, Watford and West Ham would you have had a strong expectation of scoring.  However I have to commend anyone for holding on so long.  Having done so though the next 2 games away to Middlesborough and then home to Bournemouth look very attractive fixtures.

The underlying stats don’t help as they aren’t good but Defoe has managed to buck them with his finishing ability.

Fixtures to the end of the season:

Middlesborough (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Hull (A)
Swansea (H) DGW37
Arsenal (A) DGW37
Chelsea (A)
