PLAYER COMMENTS

Hazard

A player in great form with good fixtures and a double gameweek 37 coming up.  He also one of the few midfielders with penalty duties.  Only negatives are that the underlying stats could be better but that hasn’t affected the returns so far.  Also Chelsea need to have Spurs pushing them all the way to avoid early rotation

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Middlesbrough (H)
West Brom (A) DGW37
Watford (H) DGW37
Sunderland (H)

Sanchez

Run away captain favourite this week with a DGW36 coming up.  There’s no doubting what a world class player he is and he has the underlying stats over the season to match his great returns.  It’s just that recently he’s been dragged down by the Arsenal form malaise.  It’s 1 goal in his last 6 games and believe me he has the underlying shooting and creating chances stats to match that dismal form.

Still you risk not having him at the peril of your overall rank.  He is world class and could explode at any time.  Or if you’re desperately chasing in your mini league you may want to gamble that the ordinary recent form will continue.

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Man Utd (H) DGW36
Southampton (A) DGW36
Stoke (A) DGW37
Sunderland (H) DGW37
Everton (H)

Eriksen

In scintillating recent form having returned a goal or assist in each of the last 5 games.  That’s no fluke as the underlying stats are excellent.  What’s more he also is putting away the “I only shoot from distance” tag and is getting to know the penalty box well.  He also has all set pieces.  It’s just how much of this is sustainable over and above his season stats which are good but not as good.

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

West Ham (A)
Man Utd (H) DGW37
Leicester (A) DGW37
Hull (A)

Dele Alli

Not as involved as Eriksen and the underlying stats aren’t as good whether they are shooting or creating chances.  However this is a guy who practically plays as a striker and is always sniffing around the penalty box for the slightest chance.  With Alli and Eriksen it’s not only about stats it’s about the style of midfielder you want in your FPL team.  Eriksen has far more strings to his bow to get FPL points.  Alli is just always looking to get into the box to score

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

West Ham (A)
Man Utd (H) DGW37
Leicester (A) DGW37
Hull (A)

Pedro

I was a little taken aback about how good Pedro’s stats were when he’s on the pitch.  Thats they key with Willian in such great form too. How much pitch timewill he get?  Thats without factoring in if Chelsea win the league early.  He has started 10 of the last 11 and although can be a subbed early it’s not as bad as you might think.  The gamble is all about how much playing time he will get.  If he starts he will return.

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Middlesbrough (H)
West Brom (A) DGW37
Watford (H) DGW37
Sunderland (H)

Ozil

Ozil is about the only other attacking Arsenal player apart from Sanchez that you can pretty much guarantee will start all 4 DGW games.  He’s just pretty expensive for a guy with pretty ordinary recent form and season returns.  The underlying stats aren’t making the season returns an illusion either.  The recent ones aren’t good especially. He does have pretty much all set pieces apart from some of the direct free kicks.

However given the paucity of options for DGW36 if you are “all in” DGW player then next to Sanchez he’s probably the best pick

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Man Utd (H) DGW36
Southampton (A) DGW36
Stoke (A) DGW37
Sunderland (H) DGW37
Everton (H)

King

£6.2m for an FPL classified midfielder playing as a striker who’s scored 15 goals this season with great fixtures to come.  No DGW, no problem.

Stoke (H)
Burnley (H)
Leicester (A)

Firmino

Liverpool at the moment have everything to play for and Firmino has been a key part of that.  Ok season returns which are a bit disappointing considering the excellent underlying stats.  So far only Firmino, Sanchez and Costa have done the “double double” of 10 goals and 10 assists.

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Southampton (H)
West Ham (A)
Middlesbrough (H)

Coutinho

Hard to choose between him and his Brazilian team mate.  A similar issue to the Alli vs Eriksen picture but no where near as polarised. Seems like he will be fot for this weekend.

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Southampton (H)
West Ham (A)
Middlesbrough (H)

Tadic

He has good underlying stats, penalty duties, some set piece representation and generally plays in a front 3.  For the life of me he just can’t turn that into goals or assists.  Culminating in the missed penalty against Hull.  He has been threatening to explode for sometime but it always seems to be imminent and never happen.

Seems to have the pitch time but with Puel Pep in charge anything is possible especially with Southampton having nothing to play for. Even with 2 consecutive double gameweeks he languishes this low in the rankings.  If you’re a committed DGW gambler he is the only midfielder that recently seems like he’s got pitch time for Southampton.

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Liverpool (A) DGW36
Arsenal (H) DGW36
Middlesbrough (A) DGW37
Man Utd (H) DGW37
Stoke (H)

Sane

The news that Aguero is out at least for this week gives Sane a better chance of pitch time.  He definitely is warming to the premier league and has an advanced position in the City lineup..  Underlying stats though are really no great shakes but he relies on getting close in to score. Great fixtures to come but it’s all about pitch time.  If he gets that with these fixtures he will return.

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Crystal Palace (H)
Leicester (H) DGW37
West Brom (H) DGW37
Watford (A)

Mahrez

Is this really the same guy that last season was linked with Real Madrid?  Terrible returns, recent form, underlying stats and not even the Shakespeare effect has rubbed off on him.  It’s all about his memory and a double gameweek.

DGW37 couldn’t be much worse in terms of fixtures although around it couldn’t be much better

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Watford (H)
Man City (A) DGW37
Spurs (H) DGW37
Bournemouth (H)
