fantasy premier league DGW36 transfers – the bandwagons and sinking ships

bandwagons and sinking ships, Fantasy Premier League

Here’s our fantasy premier league DGW36 transfers article where we outline and give a view on the most transferred in players so far in the gameweek (the bandwagons) and the most transferred out (the sinking ships). There’s a table of stats on each as well as some narrative on their prospects and their upcoming fixtures

THE BANDWAGONS

These are the 5 most transferred IN players so far in the gameweek. The fixture ease is for the next 3 gameweeks to the end of the season . See our latest fixture ease article. The fixtures also take into account the double gameweeks.

ATGS odds are for DGW36 games.  I’ve used returns on a per minute basis.  FPL mins per point means how many minutes does it take to earn an FPL point.  The lower the better obviously.

Jesus

There’s no doubt that the Man City forward’s record is phenomenal since he came to the premier league even though he’s only played 300 minutes or so.  He certainly looks an excellent finisher.  Positionally he’s looking to be central and the furtherest forward as well.  My only cavaet is that apart from 9 minutes against Spurs his opponents have been West Ham, Swansea, Bournemouth and Middlesborough.  So you can make a case that he’s yet to be tested in the premier league.

What he does seem to have though is the ability to finish and City do create chances so that would suggest he will be successful in the longer term.  In any case the fixtures continue to be very good

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Crystal Palace (H)
Leicester (H) DGW37
West Brom (H) DGW37
Watford (A)

Sanchez

The Arsenal LAM and occasional CF seems like he will be the overwhelming captain favourite despite some pretty ordinary form recently to say the least.  He’s only scored 1 goal in his last 6 and his underlying shooting and creating chances stats are down quite significantly so it’s not just bad luck.  What makes it worse is that while over those 6 games they did play Man City and Spurs the other 4 games were pretty good fixtures.

I do think though that it’s a little unfair to compare his recent stats to that of the whole season given he played large parts of the season as a striker.  However if you look at those recent time frames against say Alli or Hazard he is down against them.  Although not hugely significantly.

However the fact is that I can present as many stats about him and Arsenals dip in form that you want and it will probably justify that £11.5m just isn’t worth it.  Thats all very well and good but am I  really going  to go into a double gameweek with him as an overwhelmingly captain favourite without him.  His and Arsenals form are very questionable but he is world class and he can rack up a big score against anyone.

Maybe if you’re desperate in a mini league you’ll gamble against him.  Who will be your captain though?  Ozil or Gabbiadini? Or will you just gamble that a single gameweeker like Jesus or Costa/Hazard will outscore him.

Costa

Back in the bandwagons section despite blanking when Chelsea scored 3 goals against Everton.  It seems that the goals against Southampton, a good fixture this week and a DGW37 are enough to repair the faith lost by 1 returning game in 5 before the Southampton game.

The underlying stats hadn’t really dropped off that much in his barren spell so he still looks like a good option for this week and the DGW37.  Fantastic fixtures

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Middlesbrough (H)
West Brom (A) DGW37
Watford (H) DGW37
Sunderland (H)

King

The Bournemouth FPL midfielder playing as a striker has to be the cheapie of the season. Over the period of 14 games since he came into the team and started he’s got 12 goals and 1 assist. His underlying stats are good too although they don’t warrant this return which is the only negative

No double gameweek but the fixtures are very very good

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Stoke (H)
Burnley (H)
Leicester (A)

Hazard

The Chelsea LAM is one of the few midfielders who takes pens.  He is also in great form with 4 goals and an assist in his lasT 6 games.  In addition the fixtures and the double gameweek coming up are a major attraction.  Personally I’d like his shooting stats to be a little better but that’s being fussy.  His returns stand up for themselves

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Middlesbrough (H)
West Brom (A) DGW37
Watford (H) DGW37

THE SINKING SHIPS

These are the 5 most transferred OUT players so far in the gameweek. The fixture ease is for the next 3 gameweeks to the end of the season . See our latest fixture ease article. The fixtures also take into account the double gameweeks.

Lukaku

The Everton striker is the leading goal scorer in the league.  He’s also 2nd only to Sanchez in total FPL points.  Next up is an away game to Swansea followed by a home game to Watford.  Surely he’s in the wrong column?  He’s a bandwagon surely?

Ahh it’s a double gameweek and Lukaku has only 1 game.  Throw in a 2 game blank before this week and his price tag of £10.3m and you’ve got a recipe for a sinking ship.

I also sold him btw.  It was not an easy decision though with those fixtures.  Josh King at £6.1m without a DGW is one thing.  A player taking up £10.3m of funds is quite another.

Coutinho

It’s only when you see his stats on a per minute basis that you realise how good they are.  This is no fluke either.  His underlying stats are very good too.  No double gameweek and the sight of a possible injury preventing him playing in DGW36 is a recipe for transfers out.  Interestingly the talk is that the injury isn’t serious although I have to say that didn’t appear to be the case for me (I am no doctor though).

A tricky one as selling him can get you close to a DGWer such as Alli and Eriksen

Zaha

The Crystal Palace winger is in his 2nd 4 game blank spell in the last 13 matches.  He was keeping the returns ticking over in the first part of the season but Big Sam seems to have presided over a drop in returns.  However it hasn’t seen a drop in underlying stats so there’s hope for the future.

However anyone without a DGW who has blanked 4 in a row is getting sold lets face it.  He was one of my first to go in my wildcard.  There aren’t better exit points either than Man City away

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Man City (A)
Hull (H)
Man Utd (A)

Benteke

No double gameweek, a blank at home to Burnley when he was an outside captain choice and Man City away next makes this a nailed on transfer out.

His form is good though.  5 goals and an assist in his last 7 games have been the result of much improved underlying shooting stats.  However 2 blanks and the Burnley game especially make it difficult to hold him against DGW assets

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Man City (A)
Hull (H)
Man Utd (A)

Valencia

The problem with the Man Utd RB has nothing to do with his form or with the Man Utd defence.  It’s to do with the fact that he’s not played 3 of the last 6 games due to the Europa League. Mourinho has also stated that the player cannot play every game.  Given his cost and the fact that United play a EL semi final this week and the next then it’s difficult to see him playing both DGW37 games.

Maybe if he doesn’t play on Thursday against Celta then it could be different.  However I can’t see that happening.  He was another of the first to go with my wildcard update. The fixtures could be better too.

Fixtures from DGW36 to the end of the season:

Arsenal (A)
Spurs (A) DGW37
Southampton (A) DGW37
Crystal Palace (H)
