Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s our fantasy premier league DGW37 player rankings defenders article which is intended to help you set your defensive lineup or choose a defender for a transfer. We outline the best value and attacking defenders. There’s a table to help you make the choice for your transfer which includes the teams defensive strength ranking as well as their fixture ease rank and the bookies clean sheet odds for their DGW37 fixture.  This time we’ve also added in GKs

This article was written before the Southampton v Arsenal match on Wednesday.

The best value and attacking defenders plus GKs

So here’s the table. Effectively I’ve ranked the defences based on their defensive stats strength. Added to the table is the rank of easiness of the upcoming next fixtures from DGW37 to the end of the season. Here’s the link to the full fixture ease article. I’ve then given you the best value defender and the best attacking defender. Values are as of Wednesday.  The bookies clean sheet odds aren’t out yet for the 2nd game apart from Chelsea v Watford.  Therefore I’ve just added the win odds in italics

Here’s the link to the google spreadsheet if you want to view it interactively

The first thing to note is some of the teams who could soon have nothing to play for could rotate players making selection difficult.

Transfer suggestions

For those not using their wildcard and not just putting in the DGW37 players, looking at the optimum combination of strong defence at an appropriate value, good fixtures and good odds then the best transfers for this gameweek in my view are:

GKs, £5.5m De Gea (Man Utd), £4.7m Caballero (Man City) or £5.3m Cech (Arsenal)

Defenders £5.8m Monreal (Arsenal)

Comments and cheapie watch

Man Utd – With Mourinho concentrating on the Europa League selection is uncertain to say the least.  If they lose on Thursday that could change things and the likes of Valencia could play the remaining games.

Chelsea and Spurs – Both teams should play their first team in 1 game at least.  After that it’s uncertain.  You could go for Alonso out of fear that if he is played twice he could run riot given the fixtures and the fact that he looks like a winger most of the time.

Arsenal – Holding at £4.0m offers an intriguing cheapie option.  Mustiafi is fit so he could replace him despite some very positive reviews.  The other option is £4.7m cheapie Gibbs who’s playing as a very advanced LWB.  The risk here though is that Mustafi plays with Holding and Monreal moves to LWB.  Both holding and Gibbs also rely on Wenger staying with a back 3.  It’s had success so  I expect him too.  The situation is further complicated by the fact that Koscielny is an injury doubt for tonight’s game.

Watford – £4.6m Holebas is a doubt but at least offers a bit more of an attackign option if fit.

WBA – £4.4m Evans is an injury doubt so I’ve omitted him

Middlesboro – With them being relegated I’ve removed them over doubts of who will play if rotation occurs
