I’ve amended the format of the spreadsheet again to be more user friendly. Here’s the link to the google spreadsheet if you want to play around with it

Firstly it’s worth me mentioning that gametime wise this is one of the most difficult times of the year to predict.  Chelsea can win the league at WBA on Friday and with the FA Cup Final the week after GW38 we could see Conte freshen up Hazard with some rest.  For that uncertainty I’ve omitted him from the spreadsheet.

As for Spurs they need a point to secure 2nd so I’ve omitted Alli and Eriksen as they are a risk for rest for the remaining games after that due to the huge number of games they’ve played at a high intensity this season.

I’m not saying you should sell them.  I certainly won’t be.  It’s just that in my mind they are questionable as a transfer target this week.

Here’s the spreadsheet:

PLAYER COMMENTS

Sanchez

He hasn’t exactly been in scintillating form.  Last night was his first return in 4 games and his poor underlying stats show that it hasn’t just been bad luck either.  Although he scored last night and assisted the assist for Giroud’s goal it wasn’t exactly a vintage Sanchez performance.  However,  you can’t take the world class player out of him that he undoubtedly is and he’s always capable of a big moment.  Out on the left isn’t really the ideal position and his historic form and underlying stats owe alot to him playing as a striker earlier in the season.  This is about a double gameweek, fairly certain gametime and class is permanent.

De Bruyne

City shouldn’t be able to relax in order to secure a UCL spot. With Aguero fit there is a rotation risk against all the attacking midfielders.  However,  De Bruyne gives them something different than Sane and Sterling.  He has started 8 of the last 9 although this season he has been vulnerable to playing very wide or deeper than you’d want him from an FPL perspective

The leading assister in the PL got back into the frame with a goal and 2 assists in the hammering of an understrength Palace defence.  He’s been playing more centrally in recent games and continues to dominate set pieces which either directly or indirectly got his 2 assists at the weekend.  However, I personally would like alot more goal threat for £10.4m.  Great fixtures though are a big attraction.

Fixtures from DGW37 to the end of the season:

Leicester (H) DGW37
West Brom (H) DGW37
Watford (A)

Sane

Has started 13 of the last 14 PL games and if the choice is between him and Sterling he seems to have the edge in that regard.  Does play wide  but that can be a hindrance as he probably looks like more of an assister and a tap in merchant than a goal scoring midfielder.

How he blanked against Palace is beyond me as he had a hatful of chances.  Alot were coming in from a wider angle which wasn’t ideal.  However plays very advanced.  He’s also been growing into the league and although his returns are a bit hit and miss his underlying stats recently have been very good.  Like De Bruyne great fixtures.

Fixtures from DGW37 to the end of the season:

Leicester (H) DGW37
West Brom (H) DGW37
Watford (A)

Pedro

I think Pedro seems a better minutes option than Hazard given that Pedro’s barely played 2000 PL minutes whereas Hazard is at 2750.  Pedro has been patchy of late though.  1 goal and an assist in his last 3 can’t hide 5 consecutive blanks prior to that.  Certainly his underlying stats have mirrored that wobble recently.  Great fixtures though and a shoot on sight policy are an attraction for the upcoming games

Fixtures from DGW37 to the end of the season:

West Brom (A) DGW37
Watford (H) DGW37
Sunderland (H)

King

Even without the DGW it’s hard to ignore this FPL classified midfielder playing as a striker.  15 goals in the season and 4 goals and an assist in his last 6 says it all.  Underlying stats are very good too,  showing it’s no fluke.

Fixtures from DGW37 to the end of the season:

Burnley (H)
Leicester (A)

Sigurdsson

Even Pochettinho has called him perfect.  Yes the perfect FPL midfielder with an advanced position, set pieces and penalties has squared the circle by now posting really impressive underlying shooting and creating chances stats as he goes on his 1 man mission to save Swansea from relegation.  No one would be surprised  if he continues this with the last 2 good fixtures.  A goal and an assist in his last 3 after going an undeserved 5 game blank sequence.

Fixtures from DGW37 to the end of the season:

Sunderland (A)
West Brom (H)

Ozil

Did get an assist last night for the Sanchez goal although that owed more to Sanchez’s brilliance than Ozil’s pass.  The assist arrested a slide of 3 games with no returns.  While this season he has noticeably got forward his shooting stats are appalling.  He’s still creating chances and at a rate not that far off De Bruyne but his team mates haven’t exactly been gobbling them up.  It’s all a bit of a recipe for disaster.  However he is the only other advanced midfield option for Arsenal and has secure gametime.

Fixtures from DGW37 to the end of the season:

Stoke (A) DGW37
Sunderland (H) DGW37
Everton (H)

Martial

A bit of a punt here and at £9.2m not a cheap one.  However if Man Utd get through to the Europa League final it’s possible that Martial could play the last 3 games as striker.  It’s been overlooked due to his gametime that he actually doesn’t have half bad stats, both actual and underlying, while on the pitch.

There’s no doubt it’s a bit of a gamble if you’re a bit desperate but it could pay dividends.  If United lose tonight in the semi though Mourinho might just throw a full team at the rest of the games which would probably see him sidelined.  Fixtures could be better

Fixtures from DGW37 to the end of the season:

Spurs (A) DGW37
Southampton (A) DGW37
Crystal Palace (H)

Mahrez

The Shakespeare effect, that has been so positive for Vardy, hasn’t really helped Mahrez.  2 returning games in his last 7 and underlying stats that are quite dreadful are hardly a recommendation.  Neither is the fact that there seems to be an argument rumbling over whether he is promised a way out of Leicester at the end of the season.  That could even affect gametime.  This is down to a double gameweek and faith that his undoubted ability  is in there somewhere.  The fixtures couldn’t be much worse but that, ironically, could bring out the best in him.

Fixtures from DGW37 to the end of the season:

Man City (A) DGW37
Spurs (H) DGW37
Bournemouth (H)

Tadic

5 games, no return, 1 assist in his last 9 games says it all.  The recent underlying stats aren’t really anything to write home about either.  This is really about a double gameweek, some set piece responsibility and seemingly the only Southampton midfielder with anything like gametime certainty

Fixtures from DGW37 to the end of the season:

Middlesbrough (A) DGW37
Man Utd (H) DGW37
Stoke (H)
