fantasy premier league DGWs – the checklist for this weekend

Fantasy Premier League

If you’re like me and thinking that you will activate your wildcard on Saturday for GW33 then this is a checklist for the things you will want to look at before making that decision and then others over the week to come.  We’ll be looking for these things over the weekend and then posting the results

fantasy premier league DGWs – the checklist for this weekend

The situation is slightly complicated as I’ve made the unfortunate decision to go out on Saturday night but I’m hoping I can get this on paper and put out a wildcard team at the same time.  As you know my team value is a rather pathetic £102.7m so alot will be looking for value.  Remember a good value player is value for a reason and almost always goes with gametime or returns risk. So if you are swimming in cash and can pay for the certainty of Bellerin at £6.3m instead of Gabriel at £4.3m then do that.  But if you’re not…

Here’s my very simple schedule teams with a double gameweek  guide as a point of reference.  Apologies if you’ve seen it a hundred times

Anyway here’s the checklist in no particular order

  1.  The Liverpool defence

You’ll probably know by now that I believe that if there’s any truth any regression whatsoever then the excellent Liverpool underlying stats have to get clean sheets eventually.  It’s just who of value will be in the starting lineup.  I don’t really want Mignolet in goal if I can help it.  I’d rather have Moreno £4.6m, Lovren £4.8 or Sakho £4.7m.  Then I could potentially go for GKs Robles at £4.3m and £3.9m  Darlow at a far cheaper price.  The game against Spurs has to be the first team line up surely.  I’ll be looking at the defensive lineup for Liverpool with interest

2.  Gabriel

The £4.3m Arsenal CB defender is just too good value to ignore.  To be considered he must start against Watford.  That doesn’t mean he’s still not rotatable but it does at least give the opportunity to roll that dice

3.  Roberto Firmino

The  £8.3m Liverpool attacking mid is one of the key Liverpool attacking players for the DGWs given Sturridges injury record and Coutinho’s inconsistency.   Given Liverpools great DGW schedule even checking on Milners starting position (admittedly his recent returns are good)  is on the agenda.

4.  Aaron Lennon

Those considering the cheaper route into Everton’s midfield will want to at least see that the £5.6m Everton midfielder starts given the rotation possibilities in that midfield and with Mirallas back from a ban

5.  The Newcastle GK and defence

It seems £3.9m GK Darlow will start but needs checking.  I really don’t want to pay £4.8m for a Newcastle defender but with £4.4m Coloccini and £4.2m Dummett out but back in the next week or 2,  the picture is very cloudy.  This maybe an over the whole week monitor thing.

6.  Man City – Mangala, De Bruyne and Silva

The Man City trio are the other possibilities for Man City presence apart from Aguero given other form and rotation considerations.  The form and recent betting bothers of Demichelis has to put the £5.3m CB Mangala in the best spot to partner £6.5m Otamendi.  £10.2m mid De Bruyne should play some part in the City team against Bournemouth.  Given his excellent (if somewhat spasmodic) form before an injury his minutes and position and how it effects the hopefully CAM position of £9.9m Silva will be under scrutiny.  We also get the PSG UCL game to also make an assessment

7.  The Arsenal striker and Ozil v Sanchez

Welbeck starting this weekend surely ends any reason to start Giroud.  If Welbeck at £7.3m starts then that does have the potential to add another cheapish striking option to the mix although one that will surely continue to have rotation risk

Despite significant minutes for both during the international break and a whole lot of travelling by Sanchez it would be a surprise if they both don’t  start against Watford.  These performances may determine our decision of who to run with given questionable recent form of both players

8.  The WBA defence

To have any chance of representation in the DGW mix after no clean sheet against the toothless Norwich team surely a clean sheet against Sunderland has to be a pre-requisite.  Also the only value is £4.3m Olsson and has to start for them even to be considered given the fixtures for me.

9. West Ham – Lanzini, Antonio and a striker

£4.9m Lanzini and £5.4m Antonio are 2 of the better cheap mids to add to the DGW mix.  Hopefully both start and with CB/RB Tomkins back Antonio can move into a midfield position rather than RB.  Also who will start upfront, Sakho, Valencia or Emineke and will it mean anything due to rotation.  The situation is complicated and even distorted by Valencia’s international break exertions and arrival back.  Sakho would be the best option for going forward.

10. Man Utd – Lingard and Rojo

The £4.3m mid of Lingard is the perfect cheap 5th midfielder for value and to keep some sort of traditional cheap midfield structure.  If he starts as a number 10 so much the better.  It’s essential that Rojo starts against Everton for him to be considered.  Shaw starting the slow road back to fitness could cause some issues further along in the gameweeks.

11.  C Palace – The Striker position

2 double gameweeks are an attraction for any player.  The lack of a credible cheap striker for GW34 means that even goal shy Palace are under srutiny.  It seems that it will be either Wickham or Adebayor who will lead the line.  Unfortunately injuries are likely to cloud the assessment of who is the most likely to be take the position for 2 double gameweeks.

12.  Kane and Mahrez

The 2 biggest risks to leave behind with the GW33 wildcard.  How they perform may well influenec our position on them

Hope that helps and I hope to be back with the first batch of observations on Saturday
