Fantasy premier league double gameweek 31 – a closer look at QPR

Fantasy Premier League

Here we look at the 2nd part of fantasy premier league double gameweek 31 concentrating on a closer look at QPR.  Well look at the players detailed stats to help you decide on options for your FPL team

Fantasy premier league double gameweek 31 – a closer look at QPR

Background

QPR have a double gameweek courtesy of Aston Villa having their gameweek 33 postponed due to Villas FA Cup semi final.  QPR then obviously have a blank gameweek in GW33 which means unless you want the QPR player who doesn’t have a DGW34 occupying your precious bench spots (if you don’t have a wildcard) then you neeed to get them out.  Before you make a decision to transfer a QPR player do your calculations on how many you need to get out to have a full team fielded in GW33.

Fixtures

Next 6 gameweeks:

Everton (H)
DGW31 West Brom (A)
DGW31 Aston Villa (A)
Chelsea (H)
– Gameweek 33 –
West Ham (H)
Liverpool (A)

The 2 away games aren’t ideal especially for the defensive options.  However Everton and Villa are good attacking options to play against even if WBA aren’t.

Attacking Players

Unfortuantely given the selection changes and personnel there really are only 2 players to consider.  Austin and Philips.  The centre midfield is usually occupied by Henry and Sandro who are CDMs so hopeless for FPL.  Taarabt given he started against C Palace probably puts too much game time risk against forward Zamora and conversley Taarabts dismal performance against Palace probably places alot of gametime risk against him.  It was SWPs first start of the season so no gametime security can be assigned to him.  That leaves Philips as the only realistic midfield option and Charlie Austin as the forward option.

Philips

For his price Philips stats are pretty good.  Certainly the form stat is excellent and the consistency stat could be worse.  Having started the last 6 and played 90 minutes in 5 he looks an option for your 5th midfielder and assuming you have someone benchable for DGW31 a good 5th midfield option.

Austin

2 consecutive blanks after 2 consecutive scoring games has slowed down his interest.  However he was unlucky in both games and in particular showed alot of threat in the Spurs game.  All the above stats are good, season return, form, consistency and 10+ point potential for his price.  He also has pens.  His underlying shooting stats are also reasonably good.

Overall it’s just a case of can you get him out to have a full GW33 team and is it him or Benteke to take the place of the 1 spot assuming you’re sticking with Aguero and Kane.

The defence

Here’s what I said about the defence in my recent article which was more general on DGW31.

No side has conceded more goals or had less clean sheets either overall or away. It’s 32 goals conceded away and only 1 clean sheet. It’s also 1 clean sheet in the last 10 games. If you really want to Yun is the cheapie at £3.9m. GK Green is slightly different giving you save points at £4.5m

My initial view

I’ve got 3 transfers I can get in before DGW31.  I could do 2 DGW31 transfers such as the QPR duo and then transfer them out.  That would leave me with Bellerin, Van Aanholt and Sanchez on the bench for GW33 and have a full team for GW33 plus 3 additional potential players (as the game hasn’t been confirmed yet) for DGW34.  I could also use my 3rd transfer for a DGW31 GK such as QPRs Green or Villas Guzan for a 4th GW33 bench spot

I do have a wildcard though which makes it simpler and the above was more for illustration if I didn’t
