FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE DOUBLE GAMEWEEKS – DGW34 ANNOUNCED

Fantasy Premier League, fixture ease schedule

Here’s another fantasy premier league double gameweeks article as DGW34 is announced.  We take a look at the  fixtures and give some initial views on player suggestions

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE DOUBLE GAMEWEEKS – DGW34 ANNOUNCED

THE POSTPONED GAMES

I started the FPL calendar to track the postponed games as a result of the EFL Cup and FA Cup fixtures so I’ve gone back to that to revisit them. Here’s a reminder of the fixtures and how they came about

EFL Cup final postponements

These were in GW26 and were the result of Man Utd v Southampton’s games being postponed for that final:

Southampton v Arsenal
Man City v Man Utd

FA Cup quarter final postponements

These were in GW28 and were:

C Palace v Spurs
Middlesborough v Sunderland
Arsenal v Leicester
Southampton v Man Utd
Chelsea v Watford

FA Cup semi final postponements

These were taken out of GW34

Chelsea v Southampton
Leicester v Spurs
Man City v WBA
Arsenal v Sunderland

DGW34 NOW

Here’s how DGW34 looks after the postponements on the FPL site:

fantasy premier league double gameweeks. DGW34 fixtures

So that means a DGW for:

Man Utd ( Burnley A, Man City A)

C Palace ( Liverpool A, Spurs H)

Middlesborough (Bournemouth A, Sunderland H)

WBA have no fixture

WHAT FIXTURES ARE LEFT?

I’ve put strikethrough on the fixtures that are now in DGW34

Southampton v Arsenal
Man City v Man Utd

FA Cup quarter final postponements

These were in GW28 and were:

C Palace v Spurs
Middlesborough v Sunderland
Arsenal v Leicester
Southampton v Man Utd
Chelsea v Watford

FA Cup semi final postponements

Chelsea v Southampton
Leicester v Spurs
Man City v WBA
Arsenal v Sunderland

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

So it seems that the remaining fixtures apart from Southampton v Arsenal will move in to GW37 as that is the only game not affected by midweek European games. I’m personally not sure where Southampton v Arsenal will go.  The theory seems to be GW35 or GW36.  I’m not quite sure why it couldn’t be earlier.  The confirmation of when the fixtures will be is just before GW32 on April 7th ish.

DGW37 in this case would look like this.  (This is dot joining btw)

Bournemouth v Burnley
Crystal Palace v Hull
Everton v Watford
Man City v Leicester
Middlesbrough v Southampton
Spurs v Man Utd
Stoke v Arsenal
Sunderland v Swansea
West Brom v Chelsea
West Ham v Liverpool

Additional fixtures:

Southampton v Man Utd
Chelsea v Watford
Leicester v Spurs
Man City v WBA
Arsenal v Sunderland

DGW37 teams

Southampton (Mboro A Man Utd H)
Man Utd (Spurs A Southampton A)
Chelsea ( WBA A Watford H)
Watford (Everton A Chelsea A)
Leicester ( Man City A Spurs H)
Spurs (Man Utd H Leicester A)
Man City (Leicester H WBA H)
WBA ( Chelsea H Man City A)
Arsenal (Stoke A Sunderland H)
Sunderland (Swansea H Arsenal A)

DGW34 PLANNING AND PLAYER SUGGESTIONS

Personally I’m in the camp of 2nd wildcard GW36 and bench boost DGW37. It does hold risk with teams resting players with nothing to play for at the end of the season but it’s a strong DGW compared to DGW34.  Arsenal and Southampton in GW35 or GW36 could mean an earlier WC with the team set up for that DGW and DGW37 too.  Personally I think deal we should just deal with DGW34 first.  To me it’s not worthy of a WC on the facts at the moment.  In fact it’s a bit of a disappointment.

Then if you agree with me and are not wildcarding for DGW34 then it’s case of bringing in players from those 3 teams with a DGW34.  You have 5 transfers to use.

Man Utd

The Europa League 2nd leg quarter is on the Thursday before GW34. United are home to Anderlecht.  Rotation is going to be a risk

Ibrahimovic is likely to be the captain choice for the DGW so getting him in would be sensible.  He has proved to be the main man and the least rotatable for the premier league.

Midfield is the rotation minefield so at the moment I’m thinking this is an area to avoid unless there is more clarity in the weeks to come

Valencia and De Gea are probably the least premier league rotatable but the Man City fixture makes it a trickier DGW from a clean sheet point of view

Middlesborough

This is even more difficult with an interim manager at the moment.  A shame as good fixtures.  Ideally you would want more time to see his preferred lineup.  It’s hard to know if Negredo or Gestede will be the first pick at forward and whether they will dilute each others minutes no matter who is first choice  In midfield only Ramirez is worth looking at. Defence is all over the place due to injuries and chopping and changing but to me worth a gamble.  Gibson looks the only  cert at the moment but he’s quite expensive given the team.  However this should become clearer.

C Palace

In a direct contrast Palace are easy to pick player wise but have terrible fixtures.  Up front Beneteke has the potential but has been hopeless recently.  In midfield Zaha is undoubtedly the pick.  In defence there’s only one choice and thats breaking out the piggy bank for Van Aanholt.  He should be fit

Getting the order right will be tricky as the 3 best picks in Ibra is suspended.  Zaha has Chelsea next and Van Aanholt is injured.  You may want to carry over a transfer or just decide on a minimal DGW.  I need to give this more thought.

Now I’ve just sat here this evening trying to think the logic through and I may have missed something so please shout if you think there’s anything incorrect. I would see that as very helpful
